The C16th Farmhouse is a two-storey stone-built cottage, converted from a former farm (Town Tenement) in the peaceful village of Challacombe within the Exmoor National Park. The Farmhouse is very spacious with a separate dining room, farmhouse kitchen, sitting room and laundry. The sitting room has an impressive stone inglenook fireplace with a log burning stove & bread oven, an original stone floor, and a 32" widescreen TV. The spacious dining room has a large oak dining table, a sofa and a second TV.

The Farmhouse kitchen is well equipped and also has a traditional Rayburn for hot water & slow cooking, a dishwasher and a stable door out to a private enclosed garden with a picnic table and stone built-in BBQ. There are three bedrooms, a double, a twin, and a king-sized double (or twin utilising a ziplink bed) and a bath-room and separate shower room, both with WC's. There is also a large utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and downstairs WC.

Beside the cottage are large three acre wildlife grounds, ideal for families and dogs. There is a large wild-flower meadow, several lawned and wooded areas, a fruit and vegetable garden, a wildlife pond, lots of birds and butterflies and a delightful walk up and around Humphrey's Hill.

The cottages and grounds are very child friendly. We can provide a cot, high chair, fire guard and stair gate (if required) and within the grounds is a large play area with two towers linked with a bridge, including swings, a slide, climbing board, climbing ropes and fireman's pole.

The village of Challacombe is very friendly towards visitors, has excellent local walks and is in an ideal central location from which to explore Exmoor, the sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde, and the rocky coves of the North Devon & Somerset coast.

Within 300 yards is a pub with award-winning food and real ales, and a shop, with delicious cream teas and home-made cakes.

The Farmhouse is one of five holiday cottages at Exmoor Cottage Holidays and has recently been renovated and double-glazed.

Challacombe is a peaceful friendly village within the Exmoor National Park. There is an award-winning pub in the village, and a shop and post office. Challacombe is surrounded by walks on all sides, perfect for dogs, and within 5 miles is a large lake (Wistlandpound), ideal for trout fishing and with an easy circular walk.

Challacombe is an ideal base from which to explore Exmoor and the north Devon and Somerset coast - within half-an-hours drive are the wide sandy beaches of Woolacombe & Croyde; the seaside resorts of Instow and Ilfracombe; the charming villages of Lynton and Porlock; the medieval towns of Dulverton and Dunster; scenic attractions Tarr Steps and The Valley of Rocks and the whole of Exmoor, with its amazing scenery and wildlife. With so little light pollution at night, Exmoor National Park is the first Dark Skies Reserve in Europe.

The Black Venus is very well known for it's food and hospitality - we are very lucky to have it so close...no need to drive. The local shop is great too - grocery deliveries on arrival day can save a load of hassle.
