The village nestles under Porlock Hill featuring a one in four hairpin bend! and is ideally placed for exploring the Exmoor countryside whether by road, foot, horseback or off road safari.
It has pubs, restaurants, exceptional fish and chip takeaway and a variety of shops offering everything from local produce to art and antiques and its own Tourist Information Centre which offers an abundance of information.
Within 5 miles is the seaside resort of Minehead home of the West Somerset Steam Railway on which you can take a step back in time and experience the age of steam and the medieval village of Dunster where a medieval castle sits majestically above the village.
A 12 mile drive across the coastland edge of the moor with its dramatic coastal scenery and wealth of wildlife including red deer and Exmoor ponies brings you to Lynton and Lynmouth with their vernicular water powered railway.

"great little cottage"
Although it is bang in the middle of Porlock this lovely little cottage is very peaceful and quiet.Plenty of room for the two of us and the courtyard out the back was handy for storing our mountain bi… More

"Quite cosy, but..."
