"A Wonderful Holiday"

We spent two weeks at Yew Tree Cottage with our two very young boys, aged 3 and 2. It was a real home-from-home; very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. The children settled quickly and enjoyed the games and puzzles in the toy box and we had peace of mind with the plastic plates and bowls provided!

There was plenty of room for us all and the cottage is beautifully presented. The parking did not present any problems during our stay and our older son enjoyed strolling down to the post office with me to buy fresh eggs.

The area around Timberscombe is stunning. There is so much to see and do and we spent many happy hours at Dunster Castle, just a few minutes away.

Organizing the holiday was a breeze thanks to being able to correspond with the owners via email. They always replied very promptly and I did not have the usual last minute worries about what 'equipment' to take for the children due to their thoroughness and thoughtfulness.

Overall, a very happy and relaxing holiday was had by all at Yew Tree Cottage, and I would recommend it highly.

"What a great place!"

I had a lovely stayed at Yew Tree Cottage for a 6 day at Easter 2013. Great place, the rooms are spacious, clean and well-decorated, character sitting room and the kitchen is well equipped. Although the cottage has no designated parking space I never had a problem to find a room in nearby car park opposite the church/ / pub. Great location - for short or long circular walk. Highly recommended.

"Modern yet cosy, perfect weekend away!"

Me and my brother decided to take our mother away for a long weekend and we are extremely glad we chose Yew Tree Cottage for our stay. The property has been renovated to a brilliant standard. The playstation was certainly a nice touch, had great fun playing Tomb Raider. The only thing I would say is that there could be an extra mirror or in the bedrooms as the only mirror provided was in the bathroom above the sink. Apart from that everything was perfect!

The pub which is a stones throw from the cottage was lovely, especially after a long tiring day of walking and driving. One thing people may need to be aware about is the lack of mobile phone reception. We didn't have any reception in the cottage or village.

I will definitely be recommending this cottage to my family and friends!

Mobile reception varies by network. We get a strong signal with Vodafone but we are aware that other networks may not be as good.

"Fantastic cottage to spoil yourself in"

We have just spent a long weekend at this traditional cottage, renovated sympathetically and with every modern convenience. The weather was bitter, but the log fire and toasted toes were more than compensation. The furnishings, bedding and towels provided are top quality and the owners have successfully anticipated everything you might need for your stay. Although the stunning views from the kitchen windows across to Dunkerley Hill and Exmoor I suspect come compliments of mother nature.
Can totally recommend the local pub (30 yds away), where they are very welcoming, serve really good food and have a variety of beers, lager & cider on draught. Everyone in this village is very friendly and stops to chat and give advice about walks out from the village itself (so car is not required). Although there is no designated parking with this cottage it is really not a problem as there is plenty of parking across from the pub, or up the lane from the cottage next to the Methodist church.
Never been to this area before, but the scenery for walking and this cottage has helped to sell us on a return visit.

"A lovely stay in the country"

We stayed at Yew Tree Cottage from Dec 24th - Jan 31 2012. The cottage is lovingly decorated with many modern conveniences. The huge electric oven and stove top was excellent for cooking our Christmas meal.

Pros: Quiet (except for the noted enthusiastic bell ringer, but it was very pleasant), Close to the town of Minehead and the village of Dunster, sequestered from the bustle of city life, modern conveniences (great bathtub), comfortable beds, lovely wood burning stove

Cons: Parking. We didn't have to park far away, but as it was a heavy holiday time of year, parking was difficult to find sometimes. And no internet. But that is a personal preference :)

"Wonderful period cottage in beautiful location"

My partner and I stayed in the cottage for a short Christmas break and we were both delighted with it. Very quaint, period cottage with all the facilities we needed; very comfortable beds, fantastic kitchen, heated bathroom floor (!) and best of all: a wood burning stove! Pictures don't quite do justice to how well it's decorated. There are lots of lovely touches. Maps, games, and a welcome basket as well. The local area is stunning - Exmoor, the sea and the next door village of Dunster is really gorgeous (Timberscombe itself is small but pretty and quiet). The cottage itself is opposite a church with lovely, haunting bells that ring sometimes, and a pretty yew tree, and views of Exmoor. All in all highly recommended!

"Peaceful, quiet, a great place to get away from our busy world."

Yew Tree cottage is the most fantastic "get away from it all" place that we have stayed at in recent years. Cottage is beautifully presented with all modern appliances and incredibly spacious, plenty of room for both myself and my wife and our two teenage children. Our stay was typical of many british summers with the weather being changeable, but even on those times when we could not get out we were more than comfortable, cosy inside playing games or catching up with the Olympics.
Timberscombe village is small but the village pub was welcoming as were the many other places close to the village that you can eat at, or enjoy a lovely cream tea.
Many local beauty spots are close by and can easily be driven to in a short time, as were many of the local walks.
