Worzel Cottage adjoins Scatterbrook Farm on the borders of Devon and Somerset and is modern and airy accommodation with 2 double bedrooms (an extra bed is available if required). There is a spacious and well equipped kitchen and lounge/diner with a wood burning stove. The property also has central heating. There is a pretty patio area for guest's use during their stay. We are open all year round.
There are excellent walks straight from the cottage and farm along the River Barle to Dulverton and the small Exmoor village of Hawkridge. We offer a peaceful relaxing holiday with excellent views from the farm, lots of wildlife nearby including Exmoor ponies and wild red deer. We have lots of wild birds visiting the garden and you may well see our friendly chicken looking for her breakfast in the morning. We have horses and sheep on the farm. Walking, horse riding, bird watching, mountain biking and exploring are just a few of the attractions on offer here.

The West Country region
Exmoor National Park has plenty to offer to visitors to the area. Beautiful countryside, heather moorland, pretty valleys, thatched cottages, rural villages, coastal and inland attractions.
Amongst the many popular places to visit are Dunster Castle and its medieval village, several National Trust properties, the rural towns of Dulverton and South Molton. Lynton and Lynmouth are a must for all visitors also Tarr Steps, Dunkery Beacon, Snowdrop Valley and Selworthy. Exmoor red deer and Exmoor Ponies and lots of wildlife. The country town of Dulverton is just 2 miles from the cottage and has a wealth of traditional and unusual shops for you to explore and find that special gift to take home. Exmoor National Park offers both moorland and coastal areas to explore. We have the Coleridge Way, South West Coastal Path and a wealth of bridleways and footpaths.

"heating and eletric"

We were shocked by this review, with regards to the heating complaint, it was August and almost a mini heatwave with the temperatures averaging over 70s all week.
Our own website clearly states that we have the electricity on a very low tariff, on a coin meter, (most people only have to pay £2 or £3 per week, depending on how much cooking they do) What our guest forgot to mention, is that we kindly allowed her to bring in 5 more members of her family plus their dog on several occasions, for whom she cooked for on our electricity, so I am not surprised she had to add a little towards it.
We strongly dispute the comment about the cleanliness of the bathroom, which we leave spotless, also may we comment on the remark of "needs updating" it is believed that our lovely cottage was built in the 1890s
and we want to keep it with a cosy cottage appeal and feel that the most modern of furniture would not suit it. Many of our guests have mentioned that our clean settee is very comfortable and that they snuggle into it, and we fully intend to keep it that way.
We always ask all our guests if everything is alright for them, as it absolutely means everything to us that it is,and to date, we have never had one verbal complaint, we work very hard to please everyone, especially with the price, we do not charge 5,6,7, or 8 hundred pounds a week, like many do, and feel that we give great value for money in every respect. It is a sad day for us when we receive lower than 5 stars but
will always strive on to make sure that we do. Tessa and Chris.

The Owners are very accommodating and make you all very welcome.
They were informative about the area and of the many local scenic walks one of which we enjoyed alongside the river.
Should you wish they will introduce you to a local farmer who will show you around his farm and his animals and allow you to feed some of them. This was particularly appealing to our Grandson. We also saw some of the wild deer.
Don't forget to ask where 'Jack' is? Jack is an old retired horse and loves polo mints and is close to the property.
A great break for us all.
