The West Country region
Bussells Farm nestles in the beautiful Exe valley between Exeter and Tiverton. This is the ideal position to explore and experience all that Devon has to offer.
A five mile trip through the country lanes and reach Crealy Park, easily the best childrens' play park in Devon!
To the South lay the beaches of Exmouth and Torbay and beyond to Plymouth with its fabulous harbour and old town Barbican.
Travel West and you soon reach Dartmoor and its beauty, peace and tranquility. Something for everyone, with Bussells as the perfect base.
In the immediate area is the lovely Devon countryside with its many small villages and local pubs. Ideal for walking or riding. Two miles away across the fields, is the National Trust property of Killerton House with a great programme of summer events. Four miles away, over the hill, is the ancient city of Exeter, the Cathedral, the Quay, the restaurants, and shopping!

"There are better options"
As a regular TA reviewer I was swayed by the reviews on Bussells but I have to say I was disappointed. At over £1000 for a week there are better options in Devon. My main issue was with the cl… More
Oh dear. I'm really sorry that you didn't like the cottage...or indeed anything at all. I'll try to clarify one or two things that you've mentioned, but of course at the end of the day you didn't like us and for that I'm very sorry indeed.
1. You came over on Monday evening to tell me that the cottage wasn't clean enough. I was a bit disconcerted when you said that you'd brought all your own cleaning products with you, but each to his or her own. I really didn't need any prompting to have the cottage re-cleaned - I was just taken aback a bit when you described with some morbid pleasure (I felt) what a bad TripAdvisor review we were going to get. Although these reviews are important, what is more important to us is giving you a good holiday - it really was unnecessary to use TripAdvisor as some sort of stick with which to beat us. Most people usually review a property after their holiday, but again, each to his own.
2. We use Hederol washing up liquid. It's quite expensive but it comes in a 5 litre container so we use smaller bottles in the cottages.
3. The TV is a 24 inch set. It's a JVC and has no plastic surround so it looks a bit small, but I assure you there are much smaller ones available. The DVD, by the way, is the slot at the side of the TV.
4. The games room has a full-sized table tennis table, a pinball machine, a table football set (arcade size) and a pool table. There wasn't room to install a roller coaster.
5. The pool was a bit green. I wasn't lying about it being a common problem - you can call Pool & Spa on 01392875111 for confirmation. To fix it would have put the pool out of action for a day so I thought it best to let people swim. I fixed it on Friday night with a chlorine shock. It's now as clear as a bell.
5. We only have three dogs. Thrusty died three weeks ago. I wonder if your information came from our web site rather than from actual experience?
6. Sorry about the narrow lanes. It's a countryside thing.
Once again I do apologise for the problems you appear to have experienced. It's been so refreshing to read such a carefully considered and reasoned review, and we will certainly be taking all of your concerns on board.
