In Dordogne you find hills and valleys, forests with wild boar and deer in an unspoilt countryside dotted with villages and farms. Experience the local weekly market - try the famous Perigord food including duck, foie gras, confit de canard, truffles, cepe mushrooms, walnuts and even caviar from the Dordogne river, not to mention the baguettes, wine and cheese!
Châteaux with war machines, Museums, Roman remains, horse riding, canoeing and fishing rivers, Water sports lake with wake boarding, - all on our doorstep. It is a region bursting with places to see and things to do, indoors and out. The scenery is simply beautiful - many say like the prettiest parts of England before industrialisation and tarmac. Dordogne is only one day's drive from the Channel ports, and the climate is just so much sunnier and warmer! Famous places like Brantome, Sarlat, Domme, Bergerac, Pompadour and Jumilhac-le-Grand are all within easy reach.
The Excideuil / St Martial d'Albared area

Guestbook for La Petite Maison
1. Brill hols! Phil Lancaster, UK. Review Submitted: September 25, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010.
We had a lovely holiday and are returning in 2011. The house was superb, the huge pool a real treat with a 7 year old, and our dog loved it as well. The grounds are spacious with lovely views. Richard and Luisa were excellent hosts, around and friendly but never 'in the way' of our family holiday. We're already looking forward to another three weeks here next summer!

2. great base! Moss, Ireland. Review Submitted: September 11, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010.
lovely quiet location on large site but only 650 yards from supermarket and loads to do within 30 min drive. clean property with good layout and facilities, lovely walking and cycling routes immediately adjacent. We were a family of 2 adults and 3 older children and really enjoyed our stay here. The swimming pool is very large and the diving board was a great hit. There are also ping-pong tables and bikes available for use. Richard and Luisa helpfull with hints and tips. would recommend caves at Tourtoirac (15 mins drive), lake at Rouffiac (20 mins) for kneeboarding, wakeboarding etc, Perigueux (30 mins) for beautiful old town, Gallo-Roman museum and shopping, Carnac (10 mins) for canoeing on the Isle and velorail. Had a great break here and lots of thanks to Richard and Luisa.

3. Lovely long stay in the Cottage. Rob and Liz Stewart, UK (now France!) 2009.
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely petite maison. The setting is beautiful and so convenient for all the relaxing walks around the vibrant market town of Excideuil. The pool was warm and such a good size; it is seldom a private pool allows a proper swim.
Many thanks Rob and Liz
