So it's fallen down to you, the organiser, to sort out the family holiday, the weekend break or to book the accommodation for a wedding or some other special occasion? We hope you like our farmhouse and find it easy to read through. Any questions please email us;

WHERE IS THE FARMHOUSE? Down a private driveway, away from roads and neighbours, on a family farm with stunning views of the Black Mountains, a few minutes drive from the busy village of Ewyas Harold in Herefordshire.

WHICH ARE YOUR CLOSEST TOWNS? Ewyas Harold is conveniently located mid way between Hereford, Abergavenny, Monmouth, Hay on Wye and Ross on Wye. They are all about 15 miles away (roughly 30 minutes).

WHAT IS THE FARMHOUSE LIKE? It is a pretty stone cottage that offers clean, light accommodation that comfortably sleeps six adults, plus a small infant. It has three bedrooms, a large bathroom, lounge, snug, breakfast room and kitchen. For your comfort there is a woodburner, free wifi, flat screen TV with DVD player, CD player, hair dryer, as well as the usual kitchen appliances which include a large separate fridge and freezer, microwave, washing machine and electric oven. From the cottage there are lovely views of the mountains and farmland, in which the guests are invited to wander to enjoy the wildlife, fresh air and wonderful surroundings. Please come and enjoy the south facing patio area which is ideal for taking in the stunning mountain scenery and, if you are very lucky, spotting the red kites!

WHAT'S THERE FOR CHILDREN? The farmhouse is an ideal retreat with children. It is a safe place to let your children roam freely. Younger children can play in the wooden tree house, ride on toys, use the reading books and indoor toddler toys. Whilst older children can enjoy the tyre swing, play in the shallow stream, wander the fields and build mud pies. Why not bring their bikes, so they can enjoy bombing about the farm? And whilst they are being occupied mums and dads can sit back, relax and enjoy the views! Baby essentials, such as a high chair and travel cot as well as any extras for example a baby carrier, if requested in advance.

WHAT CAN WE DO IN THE LOCAL AREA? There is something for all ages. From our grounds you can pretty much walk in any direction onto a footpath and walk as far as you want. There is also a large common 5 mins away, where you can wander with the dog or take a bike. We have a local ice cream farm that has a playground, nature trail, zip wire and sells wonderful home made ice creams. You can also pony trek, quad bike, paintball, canoe, climb and much much more. We have many good pubs and restaurants nearby, The Temple Bar in Ewyas Harold, The Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch Escley, The Crown Inn at Longtown just to mention a few. If you are celebrating a special occasion by not book yourselves into our neighbours unique French restaurant Toi et Moi, over the field ( but please do this before you arrive, there are only 6 tables and they get booked up quickly ).

WHERE CAN WE GET PROVISIONS? We are only a few minutes drive from Ewyas Harold, which is a good sized village with a village shop, family run butchers, fish and chip shop, doctors surgery, two pubs selling food most nights and a children's playground.

Just a thought...why not place a supermarket shop on line before you arrive, to be delivered at the beginning of your stay, or even better, arrange for it to be delivered, before your stay and we will put it away in the kitchen cupboards for you (just please email us first to check we will be in). Postcode HR2 0JH. Tesco works well.

We love Middle Cefn because of its stunning views and its peaceful location. Great for everyone, children, grandparents, dogs etc who wish to get away from it, without being isolated, as its within easy access of village life and only 25 minutes from the M50.

The Heart of England/Peak District

Where "England meets Wales", a great location convenient for exploring both of these fantastic country's. A private location with stunning rural views of the Black Mountains, a great place to get away from it all but close enough to a busy village for all your holiday essentials and a variety of exciting eating places.

Ewyas Harold

The area is easily accessible, being 25 minutes from the M50, which makes it an ideal base for exploring Cheltenham, Worcester, Cardiff and Ludlow as well as the nearby Cathedral city of Hereford (12 miles) and other attractive market towns like Hay on Wye (17 miles), Abergavenny (12 miles) and Monmouth (14 miles).

The buildings are nestled on a hillside just over 2 miles from the village of Ewyas Harold. In the centre of the village are two country public houses (serving food ), a small local butchers, a well equipped village stores and a fish and chip shop. Closer to the site, there is an licensed French restaurant, Toi et Moi, serving outstanding seasonal food on Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunch times and evenings (booking essential).

There are many walking and cycling opportunities locally. Within walking distance of the farmhouse is Ewyas Harold Common, a great open area to explore either on foot or on bike, at all times of year. Or why not experience paintball for the first time (for 12 years olds and over) on our farm? There are lots more things to do, such as the walking on the Offa Dyke Path, climbing/canoeing in the wonderful Wye Valley or pony treking in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, all within easy driving distance.

A great time to visit: During the ten days at the end of May when Hay-on-Wye (30 minutes away by car) hosts a renowned literacy festival. On a weekend in September during Abergavenny's wonderful food festival. At Christmas & New Year when the log burner is lit and you can see snow on the mountains. In spring when the baby lambs are bouncing in our fields and the birdsong is at it's best. In the summer when you can enjoy a family BBQ with the back drop of the wonderful Herefordshire countryside. Middle Cefn Farmhouse is a great place to stay in any season!!

"Fantastic House"

We had a great stay at October half-term, despite the weather. The house was wonderfully equipped, exceptionally clean and very cosy. It was great having the 2 sitting rooms as we could escape from the children watching the television. The boys also loved the garden and spent a happy time sploshing around in the rain exploring. We enjoyed exploring the local area and had a lovely walk into the village. We also visited Hay on Wye, the Black Mountains and Hereford. Lisa was extremely helpful when we were booking and really friendly during our stay if we had any questions. We hope to return to this lovely cottage soon.

"Excellent accomodation. Cosy and inviting with lots of lovely finishing touches."

The accomodation had wonderful views and we also enjoyed trip to Hay on Wye. Plenty of local walks also. We would definately re-visit during the summer months. The owners also provided us with a travel cot and high chair and were extremely helpful during our visit.

"Fantastic value accommodation in the midst of beautiful countryside"

We spent a long weekend at Middle Cefn during July this year. The accommodation, which is set amidst beautiful Herefordshire countryside, was of a high standard (in terms of cleanliness and decor) and was fantastic value for money. We were warmly welcomed and the Briggs' were very helpful in answering all our questions, which added greatly to our stay. We just wished we could have stayed longer.
