The Heart of England/Peak District

Where "England meets Wales", a great location convenient for exploring both of these fantastic country's. A private location with stunning rural views of the Black Mountains, a great place to get away from it all but close enough to a busy village for all your holiday essentials and a variety of exciting eating places.

Ewyas Harold

The area is easily accessible, being 25 minutes from the M50, which makes it an ideal base for exploring Cheltenham, Worcester, Cardiff and Ludlow as well as the nearby Cathedral city of Hereford (12 miles) and other attractive market towns like Hay on Wye (17 miles), Abergavenny (12 miles) and Monmouth (14 miles).

The buildings are nestled on a hillside just over 2 miles from the village of Ewyas Harold. In the centre of the village are two country public houses (serving food ), a small local butchers, a well equipped village stores and a fish and chip shop. Closer to the site, there is an licensed French restaurant, Toi et Moi, serving outstanding seasonal food on Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunch times and evenings (booking essential).

There are many walking and cycling opportunities locally. Within walking distance of the farmhouse is Ewyas Harold Common, a great open area to explore either on foot or on bike, at all times of year. Or why not experience paintball for the first time (for 12 years olds and over) on our farm? There are lots more things to do, such as the walking on the Offa Dyke Path, climbing/canoeing in the wonderful Wye Valley or pony treking in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, all within easy driving distance.

A great time to visit: During the ten days at the end of May when Hay-on-Wye (30 minutes away by car) hosts a renowned literacy festival. On a weekend in September during Abergavenny's wonderful food festival. At Christmas & New Year when the log burner is lit and you can see snow on the mountains. In spring when the baby lambs are bouncing in our fields and the birdsong is at it's best. In the summer when you can enjoy a family BBQ with the back drop of the wonderful Herefordshire countryside. Middle Cefn Farmhouse is a great place to stay in any season!!

"Fantastic House"

We had a great stay at October half-term, despite the weather. The house was wonderfully equipped, exceptionally clean and very cosy. It was great having the 2 sitting rooms as we could escape from the children watching the television. The boys also loved the garden and spent a happy time sploshing around in the rain exploring. We enjoyed exploring the local area and had a lovely walk into the village. We also visited Hay on Wye, the Black Mountains and Hereford. Lisa was extremely helpful when we were booking and really friendly during our stay if we had any questions. We hope to return to this lovely cottage soon.

The accomodation had wonderful views and we also enjoyed trip to Hay on Wye. Plenty of local walks also. We would definately re-visit during the summer months. The owners also provided us with a travel cot and high chair and were extremely helpful during our visit.

"Fantastic value accommodation in the midst of beautiful countryside"

We spent a long weekend at Middle Cefn during July this year. The accommodation, which is set amidst beautiful Herefordshire countryside, was of a high standard (in terms of cleanliness and decor) and was fantastic value for money. We were warmly welcomed and the Briggs' were very helpful in answering all our questions, which added greatly to our stay. We just wished we could have stayed longer.
