About the home

• Pres de l’eglise is located in an historic hamlet and, as its name suggests, is adjacent to the picturesque local church. It is situated just five minutes’ walk to the beautiful Betineuc, an area of lakes with walks, cycling, fishing and a small beach suitable for children. The hamlet is set in quiet and peaceful countryside, yet only 1.5 km from Evran. Evran is a beautiful town on the River Rance with a church, locks and river walks and excellent amenities including Saturday morning market.
• The property is accessed through a dual-oak tree entrance. Three french windows lead you from the living/dining room to the front, side and back garden with a patio area, open vistas and 14 fruit trees. Children will enjoy seeing the nearby cows goats and chickens. With four double bedrooms, the house is ideal for family and friends. It is within easy access to the picturesque town of Dinan with its famous aqueduct and riverside restaurants and Lehon, a local gem.

• The ground floor consists of a large, airy hall, a light and spacious lounge/dining room, a separate free-standing kitchen with centre island/breakfast bar, the first of the 4 double bedrooms, and a spacious shower room and wc.
• The garden and patio area can be accessed through the lounge/dining room's three French windows and from the kitchen glass panelled door. Ideal for alfresco dining.
• The first floor has three large bedrooms: one kingsize, one double (both with dual aspect) and one with three single beds. A travel cot is available. There is also a spacious bathroom and separate w.c. on this floor.

Further details outdoors:
The house is set in 1500 sq metres of ground bordered with oak trees, fir trees and bushes. The front and one side of the house has sufficient space for parking six cars.The back garden has fruit trees, and patio with garden furniture. There is plenty of space for children to run and play. However the garden area is not secured by fencing so small children should be supervised.

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region

Côtes-d'Armor lies on the Northern coast of Brittany, it has a a beautiful rugged coastline with steep cliffs and sandy beaches and is dotted with quaint, medieval towns.
Dinan, a medieval, bustling and picturesque major town is just a short drive. Original architecture and town walls, medieval squares, cathedral, shops and restaurants. A magnificent Aqueduct spans the River with riverside restaurants and gift shops.
Lehon is a gem. With castle, ruined abbey, humped-back bridge over the river, riverside walks to Dinan under the aqueduct, outside heated swimming pool, tennis courts and restaurant.
So much more – beautiful beaches, Cancale (the oyster capital), St Malo (excellent aquarium), Dinard, Combourg, Dol de Bretagne (huge Saturday market) and of course Mont St Michel.

The Evran / St Andre Des Eaux area

The hamlet and surrounding St Andre Des Eaux commune has a population of approximately 200 people. It is primarily agricultural. The local church, adjacent to the house, opens once a month for services and for weddings/baptisms. There is a 15th century church ruin, the Mairie and a bar/restaurant from which you can order bread and fresh vegetables.
The Tour de France runs through St Andre Des Eaux and a variety of local festivals are held throughout the year.

The entrance to the Betineuc, is just five minutes walk from the house. The Betineuc is an area of outstanding beauty with lakes, nature walks, cycling with picnic areas, benches to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and, if you feel energetic, free circuit training apparatus around the lakes. A 20 minute walk along the side of the lakes will take you to a man-made lake with a sandy beach where children can build sand castles and swim, and a cafe serving drinks and snacks in the summer.

“What a wonderful gite” What a lovely gite. Light, airy and so comfortable. It was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, sipping a glass of wine on the patio whilst waiting for dinner to cook. Morning trips into Evran for croissants, pain au chocolat and other pastries from one of the excellent boulangeries and later into Lehan, Dinan or further to Cancale for excellent lunches and evening meals. The children particularly enjoyed saying good morning to the cows. We will definitely reccommend this gite to friends and hope to come back ourselves soon. To secure your booking we require a £250 deposit (per booking week) with the balance payment due 6 weeks prior to your stay.

At the same time (6 weeks prior) we will also ask for a £150 security deposit in case of major breakages/damage/ additional cleaning/loss of key/ excess use of central heating etc. This £150 will be repaid in full upon return of key and inspection of property, thank you for your understanding.

We accept payments via cheque or bank transfer.
