The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol enjoys a temperate climate and is mostly sunny all year round. The area has many places of interest and history. The white villages buit in Andalucian Style are certainly worth a visit. Ronda is a charming historic town about 45 minutes drive from the coast. Gibraltar is steeped in History and now only takes 30-40 minutes drive. Why not visit Seville or Cadiz or Granada about 2-3 hrs drive or take an overnight bag and stay the night. Take the train to Ronda from Ageciras . Another great day out is a day in Malaga, take an open top bus city tour and visit some of the great museums (Picasso) in the old square. Closer to home for the children animal Safari at Selwo hills, Water world at Fuengerola, and many more atractions, details can be found in brochures in our apartment.
The location enables the famous port of Puerto Banus to be reached in just 15 minutes by car, yet is quiet and relaxing. Glamorous and famous Marbella is only 15 minutes drive as are many well known beaches along the Golden Mile.
The Estepona / Benavista area
Las Palmeras de Benavista El Pilar located between San Pedro/ Estepona offer a great holiday destination. Its white andalucian houses, and natural beaches still hold the charm of old Spain. There are also great beach bars to visit on the beaches all along the coast. The Old Town of Marbella has great shopping in the little narrow streets and breakfast or lunch in Orange Square is not to be missed. Puerto Banus with all its fine Yachts and high life is an experience not to be missed. Watch out for the rich & famous. Try an al fresco lunch at Estepona Port, visiting the local Sunday market at the Marina. San Pedro with many charming little streets, used to be a fishing village, now its a busy bustling shopping town only 6 kms. from the apartment and have lovely beaches and great reataurants.
Details of all local Markets and Attractions can be found in our Visitors folder in our Apartment.

My wife, daughter (15) and I booked to stay at this 2 bedroom apartment for 1 week in August 2011. We were sent keys to our UK address so when we arrived at the apartment on the first day of our holiday, we were on our own. Before opening the front door, The alarm bells were ringing when reading a notice for residents in the communal hall, which mentioned about lack of funds for maintenance due to non payment from residents and outstanding debts etc. The complex building is not modern (I would say about 20 years+ old?). This wouldn't be a problem if they place was maintained. The apartment looked run down too from the outside. We opened the front door and immediately noticed a horrible strong smell of urine! The front door opens into the main lounge with the kitchen leading off. We had a look around the apartment and noticed that the smell of urine was coming from one of the bedrooms as the stench hit you even more when entering the bedroom. The bedding was very old fashioned and looked as though it was probably the original bedding used when the apartment was first built all those years ago. This was in keeping with the rest of the apartment though. Old, neglected furniture, grubby sofas (cane furniture), window blinds held up by rope in one of the bedrooms. There were cobwebs in the lounge area so the cleaning was non-existent. The bathroom had a part used bar of soap in the sink. The "welcome" pack book dated back to 1996 (probably when the apartment was first rented out?). How do I know this? Well, the pack starts with a hand written letter from the owners welcoming to their apartment, with many alterations to the welcome letter (it used to have a barbecue, but it had been crossed out) and advertisements for things to do and places to visit all in pesetas dating back to 1996! In its day, this was probably a nice apartment, but a total lack of up-keeping! The booking agreement that we had listed a property management company in Spain who look after the apartment. We telephoned the property management company and spoke to a Spanish lady to tell her about the stench of urine and the general unclean state of the apartment and she informed us to contact the owner in England instead as it was not their problem! My wife then rang Yvonne Levitt and explained that we had spoken to the property management company and we had been advised to ring her. She told her about the stench of urine and that we had identified that it was coming from one of the bedrooms. She replied that this wasn't possible as she was the last person to stay a few weeks earlier and no-one had stayed since. She asked my wife to smell in the wardrobes, smell the bed linen and smell the pillows/cushions and was getting very stand-offish. My wife then broken down in tears and we identified that the urine smell was coming from a cushion on the chair in the corner of the room. Yvonne asked us to remove the cushion and put it outside on the patio as she would arrange for the cleaner to come tomorrow to clean and see to it. My wife asked if the apartment had been cleaned and Yvonne Levitt replied that she had the same cleaner for 15 years and trusted her and never had a problem. Yvonne was getting very uptight, defensive and rude and said "What are you trying to say about my apartment?" My wife said that everyone's standards are different and that we didn't want to stay there as it stunk of urine and was unclean. Yvonne said that she would phone the property management company and call us back. We locked the apartment and decided to try to find alternative accommodation so we spent the afternoon driving around hotels, none of which were available. We went to a friend's apartment and decided to check for a flight to come back home as this was our only option. We managed to book onto a flight the next day and stayed overnight on the sofas of our friends apartment, before leaving the following day to come back to the UK, holiday ruined! We telephoned Yvonne to advise her that we would not be staying in the apartment as it was dirty, smelling of urine and it was not fit for purpose. She asked if we would go back to the apartment to bring the cushion back inside then if we were not staying "in case it was stolen" (obviously the cleaner wasn't about to come and clean it then...). We decided to go back and put the cushion back inside the apartment, only through fear of not wanting to jeopardise our money being returned. We posted the keys back to Yvonne Levitt recorded delivery and waited for the return of security bond. 10 days passed from the date that the keys were signed for and still no response, either by email, letter post or telephone. I emailed Yvonne advising that the keys were signed for on the 9th August and that as yet we have not received any correspondence/money from them. A further 5 days passed and still no response. I emailed again some 15 days after the keys were received and signed for and I got a reply the following day advising that the security bond had been returned. A further 2 days passed and we received the £200 security bond by way of a cheque. Maybe it was a bit much to expect a full refund, but the place was inhabitable. I fully expected at least half of my £525 back that I had paid to stay for the week, but not a thing! I would never, ever recommend staying here. Our summer holiday was ruined and they gained from us not staying there and not having to pay for a cleaner (debatable...) Avoid like the plague, it's the modern day Dick Turpin!!!! Response: Dear Guests I read your derogatory review in total amazement. Following your arrival at the apartment, you called my Managing Agent and asked to be moved. You did not inform her of any problem. My Agent asked you to call me with your request. You called me and made your allegation. I was horrified to hear your allegation, and in case there was a problem, I sought the help of the client (Mrs Hughes) in finding the source of the alledged smell. For your information and anyone who reads this I kept a transcript of the conversation which took place between Mrs Hughes and myself. Mrs Hughes: "I can smell wee in the apartment." I asked Mrs Hughes to tell me where she thought she could smell "wee",she said " its coming from the second bedroom, As this was a shocking report to receive, I enlisted Mrs Hughes' help. I asked to go there and stay on the phone. I asked her to look carefully on the floor under the beds, and strip off my beds, also to look inside the wardrobe where we kept the sunbed cushions. I asked her where is the smell of "wee" coming from ? she hesitated, then replied "not what I expected, you do have other apartments don't you?" I replied yes, but its August and everything is booked. She then started to blubber which soon stopped, and then stated that she could smell "wee"on a cushion on the cane chair in the bedroom; shocked at this remark I asked her to kindy remove the alledged offending cushion, place it on the clothes dryer outside on the terrace for my maids to collect. I then asked Mrs Hughes " was everything else alright with my apartment" . Mrs Hughes said "the apartment is not what she had expected". When I asked what she had expected she did not answer. I asked her a second time "is every alright with standard of cleanliness in the apartment". She replied "cleanish" to which I immediately offered her the maids to attend to any areas she felt required attention. Mrs Hughes declined this offer and stated " I will sort anything out myself". I repeated my offer of the maids to come back to rectify any areas she thought were not up to her standard ,Mrs Hughes again she declined my offer. I called my managing agent to advise of her the allegation, which my agent unreservedly refuted, as she checked the apartment the evening prior to the Hughes' arrival. Contrary to the clients' report, they did not make any such report to my agent, else she would have attended the apartment immediately. The Hughes only asked her about other apartments, an enquiry which my Managing Agent asked them to direct to me. Nothing further was heard from Mrs Hughes until she left an answerphone message at UK time 16.30 ( Spanish time 17.30) asking me to call her on her mobile phone. Mrs Hughes informed me that she had vacated the apartment. We agreed the procedure for returning the keys as stated in the Booking Conditions. I asked her to place the cushion on the clothes dryer back in the apartment for my agent to inspect. I contacted my agent to inform her that the property was now vacant. My Managing Agent Lesley Griffin attended the property within the hour and confirmed that there was No Smell of Urine in the apartment or from the alledged offending cushion. It is regrettable that anyone will stoop to such depths, fabricating a problem in order to solicite a move to another apartment. Regarding your comments about the bedding and cane furniture, may I state that the style of furnishing is fully visible on the website photographs, as is the apartment location and the description, so I can only assume that you were fully aware of what you were reserving. Yes, the apartment folder does contain some older material, however a full range of up to date information was and is available in the apartment. Regarding your observation of the string on the blinds, a more careful inspection would have revealed that it is the central cord which operates these Spanish roll-up blinds. Regarding the list of debtors, with 20% unemployment in Southern Spain, there are few debt free communities. Fortunately, Benazur remains financially sound with only a low level of debtors, and none of the facilities, including a large well maintained swimming pool and garden, has been affected, and remain available to enjoyed by residents and guests. I am sorry that my apartment did not meet your expectations; the apartment was fit for purpose, fully cleaned, prepared, and checked by my Managing Agent of 15 years' standing. I can only view your allegation as an attempt to pressure me into moving you because you did not like something about the location or style of the accomodation. Its clear now why you did not want my managing agent or her maids back into the apartment whilst you were there, as your allegation would have been proved to be false. It was your decision to abort your own holiday, therefore no refund is applicable, as all steps were taken to address the alledged issue. My apartment continues to be rented and enjoyed by many regular Guests. May I recomend that in future if you do consider renting another owners property, that do your research more thoroghly. ----- Original Message ----- |

Just to let you know that everything was fine in the apartment. As usual, we had a great holiday - just have to wait out the time until next June. G.C.
Just writing to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your apartment over the last 2 weeks. The weather was kind to us and we had a relaxing time. Your apartment is ideal for my elderly parents and myself and we are keen to return next year. I am a teacher and as yet I am not sure what my term dates are next Easter.
Thank you, happy Easter Chris. W Sussex.
Thanks for the use of your holiday home, we had a great time, and will hope to return in September/October just for the wonderful sunshine.
Yes we do enjoyed of our vacation in the Benazur, expecially kids loved the
swimming pool
and terrace breakfests were enjoyable. The situation was nice and quiet,
Opencor and Supermercaros were
so close and short distance to everywhere. We swam every other day and then
drived other; we visited Ronda, Marbella,
Puerto Banus, Casares, Granada-Alhambra, Nerja, Gadiz, Jerez and Gibraltar,
pretty much don't you think. One dissapoint
to me was that Sevilla was way too far for day trip, that city is so big and
full of intresting places that it needs to be several days there.
Benazur was also nice that there was another families with kids and like you
succested terrace level was perfect with
small kids. Nothing to complain. We'll be back to Andalucia at next summer
that's for sure.
Thank you and have a nice summer!
