MAR AZUL is comprised of only 72 luxury apartments arranged in a 'V'-shape, facing South, and designed so that each apartment is provided with the intimate privacy that one may expect from a private villa.

The open end of the 'V' is purely beach & sea! Within the 'V' is a totally unique area of exuberant & colourful tropical gardens, and within that lies an inner world of spectacular sculptured swimming pools, flowing canals, fountains, cascading waterfalls, a giant overflowing bowl, sunken deck-chairs, jacuzzi beds, and romantic thatched cabanas with lovely comfortable armchairs & settees.

Our apartment is perfectly situated right on the edge of the shallower central pool. There are just 5 privacy steps down to the pool, and it is just a stone's throw from the beach & Sea.

The large area provided by the terrace and our private lawn can be rendered 'child-friendly' by the easy erection of the provided trellises to cover the openings in the front garden wall, and a gate to guard the steps down to pool-side.

Within the MAR AZUL resort we have an indoor leisure centre with heated pool, fully equipped gym, spa, Jacuzzi, saunas & steam-room. My guests have unlimited access to all these facilities, and Wifi, at no additional charge.

A £100.00 damage deposit is required, which is fully refundable if the apartment is left in good order on departure

Payments normally by cheque, or direct Bank to Bank transfer. PAYPAL is an option, but a 3% surcharge is levied, which is less than they charge me !

In the event of a holiday needing to be cancelled, I ask to be advised as soon as possible, whereupon I will use my best endeavours to re-let. If I can re-let, I will return your deposit, less any expenses incurred for additional advertising etc.

I strongly advise that cancellation insurance is taken out.

Second, and virtually next door, we have the world-renowned Kempinski Hotel Bahia Estepona, fully-fitted with “five superior stars”, and facilities to match. You have a choice of 4 restaurants & 2 bars. You just MUST try their Sunday Brunch !

Third, our latest addition, the “LAGUNA VILLAGE”, consisting of exclusive shops (including Hugo Boss & Amani) , a luxurious beach-club (with white tents & white sun-beds within !), top-of-the-range restaurants, a unique café / bistro, a sushi restaurant, and a tapas bar !

I've left the best to the end. Estepona is a real living Spanish town of 30,000 souls, the ebb & flow of Estepona’s daily and seasonal rhythms moves very much as it has done for centuries, reminiscent of another unchanging ebb & flow, that of the shimmering turquoise sea rippling up it’s beautiful wide sandy beach.

The pace of life of the inhabitants, whilst perky in the morning, slows right down as the sun reaches it’s highest point, only to erupt into lively exuberance as the sun sets and the young and old alike fill the quaint narrow cobbled streets, the atmospheric cafes, superb sea-food restaurants, and the locals' bars and tapas bars in all the pretty squares.

This was the first time we have booked a private apartment on the Internet. So we were very curious and somewhat skeptical, however, were all exceeded our expectations. Mar Azul is a beautiful resort. We lived in Brian Colling's Apartment E5 and it would not be able to find better. First of all we would like to thank Brian again very much. He answered all our questions very quickly, is incredibly helpful and gracious. His apartment is within the resort in a prime location, with a beautiful garden and a few steps you are at the pool. It is extremely high quality furnishings, very modern and very clean. Inside the apartment's Brian still has a lot of information, what we might do in the area. Air-conditioning, piped music, heating, television and kitchen appliances all at a very high level. The beds are perfect, we have never slept so well, except of course at home. One of the highlights was for us and for our 11-year-old daughter, surely the big, beautiful pool with waterfalls, hidden places, etc. The staff at the Mar Azul, starting with the reception of the lifeguards, security guards, gardeners, etc., are very kind and helpful. So, who wants to Andalusia in the area of Marbella, should definitely into the Mar Azul in Brian's apartment. We will anyway go next year again and hope that Brian still has some available for us.

My sister and I stayed in Brian's apartment E5 for the 4th time, on our annual "girls holiday". As usual it was fantastic, luxurious, clean, convenient etc. Thanks for keeping the high standards up Brian, you really do make it a very simple yet rewarding experience.
Believe me, I would not return to the same place if the standard was not very, very high. Some of the best things about the apartment are: Free WiFi, satellite TV, marble floors, luxurious kitchen and bathrooms, the biggest sofa bed I have ever seen and apparently the most comfortable, great staff, everything well maintained, fully equiped kitchen, dish-washer, washing machine, 20 feet to the pool from the private terrace. I read someone elses review recently which mentioned traffic noise, (I am not sure for which apartment though), but I can honestly say that I have never heard any traffic or car noises at Mar Azul pool side or Brian's apartment. Oh and in peak season (as of July 2011) there is a pool bar / restaurant and they even do take away for residents in the evening!!! What more could you ask for. Thanks Brian.

We stayed in Brian's apartment (E5) which is everything you see on the website and a whole lot more! My husband and a I along with our 2 and 4 year old girls stayed here for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. The apartment is spacious, immaculately clean, very well equipped with lots of extra touches which made us feel completely at home. The Mar Azul complex is beautiful and it's hard to put into words just how nice it is. We would sit on our garden terrace, overlooking the ornate pool and gardens which is finished off with a sea view - pretty perfect! The girls loved the pool as it has lots of segregated shallow areas for them to play safely. Our 4 year old also really appreciated the "high five" she received from the lifeguard each time she swam the length of the pool! The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Brian is the perfect owner - the information he sent us prior to our holiday was comprehensive and covered all we needed to know and he even phoned us a few days before our departure to make sure we had everything we needed. He also provided us with details of Paco who we arranged to pick us up at the airport - you can also hire a car from him. Paco is a lovely chap and was at the airport waiting for us (which was a welcome sight!). To conclude, I wouldn't hesitate in booking this apartment again.

Just to let you know we have all arrived safely back home and thought that I would just send you an email to say A BIG THANKYOU. We have had a terrific time, your apartment is absolutely beautiful and the Mar Azul was great. We have all thoroughly enjoyed it. The quality of accommodation was fantastic, it was really nice to go somewhere with all the home comforts. We would love to go again and will be in touch with you again to arrange this. Our children loved it, the teenagers were really happy with the Wi-fi and loved being able to take their computers and keep in touch with their friends on facebook on an evening. The staff were really helpful, especially Mimi, Carlos at the Pool Bar and the lifeguard Salomee who really was very nice and helpful, in fact she really entertained our youngest daughter who is only 5 and Mikaela really liked her to the extent she would help her every morning sweep up round the pool......Paco was great too, he collected us from the airport and took us back this morning and was really friendly and helpful
The pool area is so well kept and clean, I don't think we have every been anywhere before where the staff pay so much attention to ensure how clean the areas and pool are kept. The pool bar was open every day (in fact it was actually closing today) so it was well timed on our part as we used it every day and found it very convenient for drinks and snacks for us all.
Anyway just thought I would send a quick email just to say Thank you. The information you supplied before we got there was very informative and very useful. Thank you for all your help. We will be in touch again with you to rebook for definite.

I have now stayed at Brian's apartment E5 for the past 3 years in a row and I dont usually return to the same destination twice. If you want to get away for a completely relaxing break this is the place to go. My sister and I (on our annual girls holiday) dont even bother to hire a car, we go to the Supermarket at the beginning of the week by taxi to buy drinks and snacks for lunch and then get taxis out for dinner in the evening either to Estepona (5 minutes) or buzzing Porta Banus (20 minutes).
Brian's apartment is very luxurious and everthing you could possibly want is supplied including UK TV channels!!! The apartment is right next to the pool (15 feet or so) which means you can pop in and out as much as you like without an inconvenient long walk.
This year a pool bar has opened which provides very good food and drink all day. As a guaranteed week of good weather (usually reliable in this part of Spain) and lovely, luxurious accomodation and facilities, I couldnt recommend it highly enough. I will no doubt be back again next year. Thanks Brian!!

We stayed at The Mar Azul Estepona in Apartment E5 which is owned and managed by Brian Colling from June 19 to June 27 2010. He arranged for a taxi to meet us at Malaga Airport and return us after our holiday with his special driver, Paco, who was so helpful
The setting and view from this apartment is lovely and the pool is kept absolutely spotless and the gardens are constantly tended. The apartment is so modern and totally well equipped. There is absolutely nothing we required that was not available, Brian has thought of everything. The kitchen has all the latest equipment and everything worked. Excellent glassware ,cutlery and crockery. Bathrooms were an absolute joy to use, Large spacious and beautiful. The large sitting room has a 42” TV with Sky .
The briefing that Brian presented prior to our departure was amazing in its detail and meant that anything we were not sure of initially was fully explained in his brief. His attention to detail and his professional approach to managing the apartment is to be highly commended. He even rang us the day before departure and the day after our return to make sure everything was satisfactory. How is that customer relations!
We will certainly be back.

This is the 2nd time we have visited Brian's apartment. It's like having your own small villa; lovely gated garden with loungers, but with a stunning pool area which is more like a "zen" garden. An absolute delight for children and very safe. Excellent location 20 mins walk/5 min car to Estepona with it's lovely long boardwalk and fabulous playgrounds for kids. The apartment is very well and thoughtfully equipped with excellent information on the area and what to do. Large supermarket with fantastic fishmongers is 5 mins drive. Just stayed in Brian's apartment for a week in September. This is a very luxurious apartment with everything you could possibly need and require down to the finest details.
As myself and my husband have got older and our children are now grown up, we are trying to enjoy the finer things in life and holiday accommodation is one of them. You could not fault anything about the apartment or the complex, maid service for cleanliness was excellent, 24 hour security on the complex so whether you are an owner or visitor, its nice to know they are checking around the complex all the time with peace of mind.
It is comfortable to the fact that if you dont want to venture out of an evening then you can relax in comfort knowing that you 'want for nothing' its home from home....without a doubt.
I can honestly say that if you like relaxation, top quality and extreme comfort, then visit the Mar Azul for a holiday, its absolutely fabulous.

We stayed for 2 weeks in Brian's apartment E5 in September and what a lovely place it is. We stayed with our 30 year old disabled daughter who uses a wheelchair and a walking frame. We found the apartment to be excellent-extremely well equipped, clean and spacious, except for the bathroom/toilet. Claire found it a tight squeze with the glass sliding doors and was only possible because she uses a walking frame inside.
The pool and gardens are beautiful with palm trees,greenery, plants and flowers with fountains and private areas to relax in. Swimming in the pool was heaven and Claire loved the fountains and jets and was able to acess all areas as there are lots of ramps All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The port at Estepona is lovely and we can recommend the ice cream cafe-lots of lovely flavours!!
All in all we had a great holiday and would gladly return.

We have just been lucky enough to spend another 4 weeks in this fabulous resort. We fll in love with Mar Azul last year and it was certainly no disappointment on our return. The apartment really is home from home, incrediably well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool at Mar Azul is one of the nicest pools we have ever seen and our two boys (8 and 9) played fro hours in the pool are and gardens which are beautifully maintained. The staff at Mar Azul are extremely friendly and helpful. Crusoe's beach Bar is a 10 minute walk down the beach (just past Laguna Village) it is run by a lovely english couple and the food and atmosphere is great. The sunbeds are extremely reasonable. Estepona has some fab restaurants and Tapas Bars and is still very spanish which we loved. We really cannot rate Mar Azul highly enough and hope to return next year.

My girlfriend and I rented this property just as a base to attend a nearby wedding, but found ourselves wanting to spend more time there than with our friends!
First impressions of the apartment excededed our expectations, the welcome pack that the host Brian provided was informative (and funny) and gave a good insight of what to expect, but we really were blown away with the attention to detail and the level of finish this property provided. It really was a home from home!!
In the morning (after arriving late the previous night) the view from the terrace became apparant; the spectacular oriental themed pool area was simply stunning with a beautiful romantic beachside backdrop.
We really would recommend this property to anybody wanting to indulge themselves, yet still wanting to remain within a sensible budget. We will most definitely be booking here again. 10 out of 10.

We really enjoyed this apartment. Everything was exactly how described and even more than we expected. The pool area is absolutely magnficent and the apartment is overall luxorious. The car park was convenient and we enjoyed taking our daily drives to Ronda, Marbella and of course Estepona beach. We would recommend this apartment to anybody who wants to have a carefree holiday in a beatiful and safe enviroment.

Hi Brian, we have had a very relaxing holiday in your apartment at Mar Azul. The weather was very OK! We have had only 2 or 3 cloudy mornings, which we used to visit the surrounding towns, Gibraltar (maybe you can advise your guests to take a taxi-ride to visit the apes. That´s how we did. We were very surprised that we were allowed to feed them. That was a very great experience.), Marbella, Malaga and of course Estepona. Also, we drove through the mountains twice. That was great too. We visit the Dolomites every year, and didn´t expect such mountanins in the south of Spain.
Now I want you to gratulate to own such a beautiful apartment. We found it very well equipped. Everything we needed was there! And it was very warm decorated, so that we feld home.
Our children (3 girls, 12,14 and 15 years old) visited the Spa a couple of times, which they really enjoyed. Also they told about the friendly staff.
But most of all we loved the garden. I´ve never seen such a beautiful garden before!!!!!!!!! At home, I´ve visited at Saturday our gardener to order some plants. We took many foto´s and so I´m very inspired. (I don´t think my husband is glad about that, but he liked your apartment and garden too!)

I stayed at Mar Azul in July 2008. I was very impressed with the apartment which was exactly as it was described, it was very luxurious had good sized bedrooms and bathrooms all of which were exactly as described on this site. The complex was also great, with a good sized pool, and views to the sea from the infinity pool. The owner Brian was very thorough and absolutely everything he describes in his comprehensive rental booklet was very helpful and true. I would definitely recommend this apartment and hope to go back again next year!

This is a fantastic getaway-we are a family of 5 with 3 kids aged 12, 10 and 5. We had lazy days by the pool, great walks on the beach, easy meals on the grass porch, beautiful sunsets and fantastic meals. This condo is perfect, top of the line, well cared for, spacious, and the owner goes out of his way to make sure you can get right to your vacation and have all the info you need to avoid hassles. The pools are a series ofshallow to deep-perfect for little kids-the view of the Mediterranean is out of this world and the nearby town is quiet, quaint and non-touristic. This is NOT Marbella-thank goodness-this is old style Spanish village with all the things you need for a perfect week. It would be great to have a car if you come for day trips to Ronda and other sites-without a car you may feel a bit pinned down for food options. Next door is a fancy resort that can't even compare-and is tremendously over-priced-making you realize just how great this place is-quiet, chill and perfecty maintained. Perfect for families. We would love to go back- recommend completely!

We have just returned from a 4 week holiday at the beautiful Mar Azul resort and it is the best family holiday we have ever had. Brian's apartment is amazing, so well equipped and very luxurious and for us great being on the ground floor, having two boys aged 7 and 8 we had very easy access to the pool. The staff at the Mar Azul were very friendly and helpful and it was comforting to have two lifeguards by the pool all day. A short walk down the beach there is a very good beach bar where the sun-beds were very good value and the food excellent, however we spent a lot of time round the fantastic swimming pool where the children played for hours on end, extremely relaxing for us! We hired a car for the holiday and did lots of exploring and had some fabulous meals out in Estepona and Benhavis. My husband also had a few rounds of golf and found some excellent golf courses close by which were very good value for money. We have already enquired about going back to the Mar Azul next year and would highly recommend this beautiful apartment.

Just returned from Mar Azul and what a lovely apartment and complex. The information and photos provided on the website are very accurate and the instructions and advice regarding the property which we received before we even arrived, was the most comprehensive I have ever seen. There is also loads more information on the surrounding area in the apartment once you arrive. Brian - I think you have thought of everything!
The apartment is exceptionally well equipped and in first class condition. It was immaculately clean when we arrived and was cleaned again at the end of the first week with bedding and towels changed.
The complex is beautiful and very well maintained. The pool and surrounding garden area was constantly being cleaned and is very well maintained. The gym is well equipped and again very clean and tidy. It was never busy either.
The addition of the low fencing around the apartment's garden and the stair gate at the top of the steps down to the pool area was a great comfort as we had a toddler, and it was sufficient to keep her secure & give us piece of mind.
Apparently the complex was the busiest it had been this year and there was a slight issue some days with people reserving sunbeds all day and not using them for most of the time. It did not effect us as we were always out early at the pool so always got beds, but the management did step in and removed the offending towels, and then provided a further 15 sunbeds to alleviate the problem. Its that sort of attention to detail that lifts the Mar Azul above all other resorts we have stayed in.
The beach was a bit stoney for our tastes so we did not use it, but to be honest we prefer the pool anyway so that was not an issue. And the main beach in Estepona is lovely for those who like the sand!
We had a hire car and I felt this was pretty essential as there were no supermarkets within walking distance and we wished to self cater quite a bit so went to the big Carrefour supermarket in Estepona several times. Its only a 5 or 6 minute drive but too far to walk in the heat. But I am sure there are taxis available for those who do not drive.
Estepona town has lots of good restaurants and bars. The sea front has lots of activities for kids. The Port area and the old town should also be explored.
All in all I would recommend this property to everyone.

Our ten day stay in this apartment was on the bliss, bliss, bliss side of enjoyment! Prior to our trip, the owner Brian could not have been more helpful, and his pre-arrival info was comprehensive and came in very handy!
The resort was a revelation. As regular travellers to this area, we were familiar with its location, but hadn't realised just how beautiful it was. The Asian garden is truly stunning, the pool is glorious and the views spectacular.
The apartment is spacious, opulent and equipped with everything a family could possibly need. We had lunch on the sunny terrace every day, and strolled fifty yards to the beach at night to watch the breath-taking sunsets.
Our two boys, aged 6 and 7 loved both the indoor and outdoor pools, and enjoyed playing tennis at the two tennis clubs within a five minute drive (a car is definitely recomended as although this is just a ten minute drive from Estepona, only the Kempinsky Hotel and Laguna Village are within walking distance). There isn't a whole load of activities for children, but with such a great pool and the beach just yards away, our boys were amused from morning until night. Oh, and the promenade and beach in Estepona were a massive hit too - clean and very kiddie-friendly.
The spa was first class with everything you could want to re-charge the batteries.
The most special thing about our stay however was the tranquility. In the 10 days we were there (in April) we only saw two other families in the whole complex - it really was a haven of peace and calm. If you're looking for an action packed complex with entertainment on tap, then this isn't the place for you.... but if you love 5* quality, luxurious surroundings and an escape from the world, then here it is....

Apartment excellent with everything you need at hand. Well maintained and spotless throughout. Reception most helpful along with all the staff. Ideal location for the area.

I am happy to negotiate special terms for extended Winter holidays, such as 4 weeks for the price of 3 !

30% deposit on booking.

Balance due 8 weeks before holiday.

A £100.00 'damage deposit' is charged, which is FULLY refunded if the apartment is left in good order.

Payments normally by cheque, or direct bank to bank transfer. PAYPAL accepted, but with a 3% surcharge ( that's less than they charge me ! )

In the event of a holiday needing to be cancelled, I ask to be advised as soon as possible, whereupon I will use my best endeavours to re-let. If I can re-let, I will return your deposit, less any expenses incurred for additional advertising etc. I strongly advise that cancellation insurance is taken out.

MAR AZUL is about 1 hour's drive from Malaga airport, 40 minutes drive from Gibraltar airport, and 2 hours drive from Jerez airport. Cheap flights available from majority of budget airlines including easyjet, bmi baby, monarch, thompsonfly. Transfers to and from the airport to the apartment are easy to arrange, and I have recommendations, but car hire is recommended to get the most out of your holiday.
