It is hard to describe how amazing the outside area of this complex is. I am going to start from the main entrance and work from Reception to the Beach. Enter the reception area through the glass rotating doors and you will find a haven of cream, gold and pale turquoise tranquility with an indoor water fountain. To your right there is a reception desk with a receptionist and security guard who will be holding your apartment key card.
Just past this area is a stunningly smart lounge and bar area furnished in velvet, silk and deep mahogany which can be for personal use or as a business meeting area, there is a communal computer room adjoining but this might need to be booked in advance.. If you we now return back to the lounge and step out on the sunny terrace from here you will have a picture perfect view of the terracotta complex with it's stunningly designed Asian water gardens and infinity swimming pool. On a clear day you can see Morocco and the Rock of Gibraltar across the simmering Mediterranean sea. You then walk down some steps and walk though the gardens and water features with stone benches to rest on and stone Asian artwork is dotted all around you. The infinity pool winds around the garden with secluded sunbathing areas and water Jacuzzi's a bridge goes over the swimming pool and will take you from one side to the other side of the complex, there are also two sun huts with comfortable seating to relax and play board games in and just by the gates that would take you to the beach is a juice bar only open during high season. If you go through the gates to the beach you can stroll along the sand to the Kempinski Hotel, Lagguna Village and Puro beach. Stroll the other way and you're a five minute walk to Alcazaba beach which also has a beach restaurant open from Easter to end of September in the more traditional Spanish style open to non residents as well.
It's really hard to express in words how amazing it is to swim in this infinity pool until you have actually done so yourself !!!

"A Relaxing Holiday in a Beautiful Apartment in Estepona Spain"
My husband, daughter (almost 2), her nanny, and I stayed in Caroline's apartment at Mar Azul in Estepona from June 29 – July 4, 2014. We were looking for a 'home away from home' with a pool and beach for a relaxing family holiday, and this apartment definitely fit the bill. Caroline was very good about sending detailed emails and keeping up to date on everything, which made the whole process very easy.
We flew into Malaga – and the apartment is about 40 minutes (take the A7 non toll roads!) The 2 Bed apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need and quite a few pleasant surprises (salad spinner, plastic containers, children's dishes and cutlery). There is a washer and separate tumble drier (condenser drier – remember to empty the water tank!), which makes wet towels and swimsuits no issue. The wifi worked very well, and the television has many channels to choose from (including Disney Jr and Cbeebies) and there are a plethora of DVDs, games, and books available for use in the apartment. There is plenty of storage space in the bedrooms, and the master bedroom has the luxury of sliding doors onto a patio. It's the perfect place for a morning coffee or an evening glass of tinto de verano. The apartment also has a variety of items to use at the beach and pool (floats, balls, buckets, spades, etc), which is ideal so can save that space in your luggage.
The apartment is very convenient and accessible to the outdoor pool. My daughter walked to and from many times a day with no issues. We went just before high season, so we found the pool to be quite quiet with not many people, so we had no issues finding sun loungers. There is also a pool hut with a couch and chairs, which is great for snacks in the shade or an afternoon nap. The pool is quite large, and on the beach side is very deep (great for bigger kids jumping and diving). We tended to stay in the 2 shallow areas – my daughter loved playing in the waterfalls and spouts that shot out water. There were 2 lifeguards on duty, as well. There is a beach bar, but it is cash only, so do bring Euros if you plan to eat / drink here.
The beach is a short walk from the pool. The beach directly in front of the Mar Azul is quite rocky. If you exit the gate, turn right and walk along the path (took about 5 minutes with the little one!) the beach here is much better. The sand is perfect for building sandcastles. The steps down to the beach are quite big, so little ones / elderly ones might need a little help.
A few things that we would recommend:
-The bakery in the big Carrefour (large grocery store / superstore) is excellent – I'm still dreaming of their pastries! The Carrefour (a 5 minute drive – go left at the roundabout in front of Mar Azul and then straight until you see it on the left) has everything you could need: food, clothes, sunscreen, electrical appliances, etc.
-There is a lady who does massages in one of the pool huts. She is FANTASTIC. She does many kinds including reflexology and is very reasonably priced at €50 per hour. She is medically trained and can really feel the places that need work. My (very picky) husband is still raving about her sports massage. Her flier is at reception and on the pool hut.
- Going into Estepona town - it's definitely worth the short drive in. There is an excellent play park for children of all ages on the beach side. In the evenings there were always sand castle artists creating amazing sculptures. We ate at Palm Beach one day which had excellent food (but slow service). Don't go if you're in a rush, but if you have the time to sit and relax the food is delicious and the views are amazing.
I can highly recommend the Mar Azul (and specifically Caroline's apartment) for a relaxing break in Spain.

Great location easy to walk to the fabulous Laguna Beach and short car ride to Estepona town and huge Carrefore. If want to travel further afield Puerto Banus and Marbella just 20 minutes away.

"Wonderful apartment in wonderful Mar Azul"
Thanks to Caroline, this apartment is a sure-fire winner, with every need taken care of. Incredibly well-equipped, tastefully furnished, very clean and comfortable, with the invaluable addition of underfloor heating throughout makes this an ideal base any time of year for exploring the area, and enjoying the well-run Mar Azul complex, which is situated just outside the lovely & more authentic Spanish town of Estepona. In a quiet residential area, with other various upmarket apartment complexes, it sits on the sea front, with a lovely esplanade that is accessed directly from Mar Azul. The facilities are first-class, with a gorgeous & interesting outside infinity pool, beautifully landscaped relaxing gardens, heated indoor pool, gym, sauna, etc. etc. The apartment has marble floors throughout, kingsize master with spacious en-suite, 2nd bedroom also with en-suite, a spacious living room with dining area, & a functional kitchen with all appliances. An extensive DVD library, books & games galore, and 2 terraces for relaxing on (1 with outside dining table, the other with sofa set and coffee table). Excellent. A further public terrace area just outside makes for a good area for sunbathing until mid/late afternoon. Finally, secure (CCTV cameras abound!) underground parking gives guests peace of mind. Would stay again without question.

"A wonderfully luxurious apartment"
We have just returned from a wonderful week in this apartment. We have nothing but praise for Caroline, Mar Azul and the apartment. Caroline is incredibly efficient and provided us with a large volume of helpful information. Mar Azul is a wonderful complex - beautifully maintained and with very friendly staff. The apartment itself is faultless - spotless, everything (everything!) provided that you could need and a little bit of luxury too, such a treat. Thank you Caroline.

"Perfect Flat for Us"
Booking easy - excellent directions given plus guide to the area. Flat larger than we expected and spotless. Well furnished with very generous extras eg., 140 DVDs - buckets and spades for kids etc. etc. It was January and we needed heating occasionally; the under floor and fan heating was more than adequate. The house keeping service was 10 star - spotless redefined! Security staff cheerful, diligent and very helpful. Two patios facing south west- sheltered - sunbathing in January. Indoor pool nice and warm; 30 centigrade. We were absolutely delighted and plan to go back next year.

"A wonderfully relaxing stay"
Well what can I say? For us, Mar Azul is just perfect and Caroline has absolutely everything arranged - there is nothing the she hasn't thought about! The proved extremely valuable as we were arriving in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. Our shopping was done and waiting for us upon arrival. The apt was spotless and simply stunning, however, it still felt like home from home.
We hired a 7 seat Opel Zafira from malagacar.com and their service was also simply first class (they seemed to charge about 100 euros less than everyone else for our 11 night stay). Having the car proved quite handy and we did get quite a bit of use out of it. Although the (huge) Carrefour supermarket is only a 15 mins walk down the road we did a big shop on Boxing day so the car was blessing for that trip alone.
During our stay we visited several of the main resorts. Mum and Dad loved the walk into Estepona whereas we tended to head for Marbella or Puerto Banus - my wife loved the shopping and the kids loved the beaches. One tip, read the visitors book at the beginning of your stay - there are some very good recommendations in there (restaurants, places to see, etc)! We didn't, and we felt like we had missed out on one or two little gems.
Apt C4 was a lovely retreat to return to each evening. Everything is provided and the DVD and book collection alone could keep you occupied for your entire stay! There are games for the kids, beach toys for them, towels for swimming, plenty of storage and a safe for your valuables too. The complex was nice and quiet during our stay. The staff treat you like royalty and nothing was too much trouble for them. Security was tight and this made us feel very safe.
In summary, Mar Azul is a five star resort that is 10 minutes drive from Puerto Banus and has everything for couples or a family, however, it is the service that you receive from Caroline that really sets it apart.
We will be returning later this year!

"Loved it again second time around"
This was our second time visiting Caroline's apartment at Mar Azul. Clean and very well presented with a recent refurbishment. Caroline really thinks about her visitors, from notepads to write down your shopping list to books and DVD for the kids and recommendations for restaurants and trips around the area. My girls made lots of lovely friends (some I recognised from last year) and were entertained even though there is no childrens club. The only change that we could see was the management of the beach restaurant, the food was okay but not as authenticate as last year. You do need a car to stay around this area to make the most of your holiday, we just find Mar Azul suits the kind of holiday we like, there are restaurants on the beach further down at Laguna Beach or whatever you fancy in your own luxury apartment with popcorn and a movie after a hard day of doing nothing!! Would throughly recommend this complex.

"The perfect place to get away from it all"
Caroline's apartment is luxurious, comfortable and extremely well equipped. We loved having the two terraces, and the fact that we could escape the heat of the sun for parts of the day. The resort itself is beautiful and so clean, and I was impressed at how fresh and new both resort and apartment felt five years on from my first visit. One small downside is the distance from shops, restaurants and nightlife, especially with older children, but it's the ideal destination if you want to get away from it all and recharge.

"Amazing pool with a beautiful and spacious apartment to match."
A wonderful apartment to escape from the outside world and relax.
The apartment is well stocked allowing you to feel completely at home and the outside space with the pool and sea view is amazing.
It is situated to give easy access (if you have a car) to the costa del sol area.

"Amazing Apartment & Fantastic Complex"
We stayed in Caroline's Apartment for 2 weeks with our two kids aged 9 & 7. We couldn't recommend the apartment enough, from the moment we first enquired about the apartment Caroline could not have been more helpful. We received extremely detailed information on every aspect of our holiday - from her arranging a pick up at airport for transfer to her housekeeper providing groceries for our arrival.
The apartment is truly 5 star with extremely high fittings and fixtures, yet has an extremely homely feel with numerous games and books etc for the rare occasion the weather is less than perfect. The staff at the complex were also superb and very helpful. The security within the complex is phenomenal, always security staff and others on site, around the clock. The swimming pool is beautiful, there are quiet shallow areas for those with small kids or if you are looking for some privacy you can escape from the bigger pool. The pool has two lifeguards from 10am till 8pm daily, always checking on the kids and walking around the poolside. There is access to the beach directly from the pool. The beaches to the left and right of the complex are lovely, you can walk to the wonderful Kempinski Hotel and Laguna Village.......we had some fab meals at the Laguna Village and its really nice for an afternoon drink looking out to sea.
We didn't hire a car but the local buses and taxis were inexpensive, it's easy to get around such as Estepona Port, Gibraltar, Rhonda and Puerto Banus/Marbella.
If you are looking for a chilled out holiday by the pool or a base to sightsee then we would highly recommend Caroline's apartment.
