The Costa del Sol region
The Costa del Sol ("Sunny Coast" or more literally, "Coast of the Sun") is a region in the south of Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, comprising the coastal towns and communities along the Mediterranean coastline of the Province of Málaga. The Costa del Sol is situated between two lesser known costas: Costa de la Luz and Costa Tropical. Formerly made up only of a series of small, quiet fishing settlements, the region has been completely transformed during the latter part of the 20th century into a tourist destination of world renown.
It includes the city of Málaga and the towns of Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara, Estepona, Manilva, Casares, Rincón de la Victoria, Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, Frigiliana and Torrox. The Costa del Sol extends from the cliffs at Maro in the East to Punto Chullera in the west. Settlement in the region dates back to the Bronze Age, and has been colonised and ruled by many cultures such as the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths and Moors, before the Reconquista.
The apartment is in the ever popular Marina Bay complex which is located about 200 metres away from the entrance to Estepona sports Marina. The apartment has direct sea views and is located on the 4th floor. There is a lift to all floors including the underground car park. The Port makes for a great place to stay when visiting Estepona as you are within easy walking distance to shops, supermarkets, busy bars, restaurants and late night dancing bars. There are many fishing boats, sailing ships and jet skis moored in the port and lots of opportunities to charter boats or to even go sports fishing. On Sundays, there is a craft market in the morning. There is also a large Wednesday Market 20 minutes walk further up the road from the Port. There are great beaches either side of the port. Cristo bay beach is very popular with families with young children who tend to make friends with one another. The water in this bay is shallow and safe. There are also two beach bars with plenty of sun beds. In the other direction of the Port you can walk along the promenade into the old town of Estepona. Here you will discover a multitude of little Spanish bars, restaurants and shops within the pretty little streets which have been decorated with an explosion of pretty geranium flowers everywhere.

"Beautiful apartment in excellent location...especially good for families"
We have just arrived back from a wonderful stay at the Apartment Mari. The apartment was clean, crisp and equipped to meet all our needs. The views from the balcony were wonderful and it was a perfect place to enjoy an early evening glass of wine. The beach was accessible directly from the grounds of the apartment and was perfect for children. Even on a windy day the water was shallow and calm! The Havana beach restaurant and bar served great food...and ice creams. In the evening we were close enough to walk into the port or a little further to the old town and had some great meals at El Cazador.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased to hear you had a great stay!

"Immaculate, well equipped apartment in great location"
The apartment was immaculate and very well equipped and we enjoyed many sunsets on the balcony that overlooked the beach and the mountains. Having a bath as well as a shower in the apartment was a bonus and the living room and bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The Marina Bay Complex is in a fabulous location, an easy stroll to the Playa del Cristo beach or the pretty Marina with its many friendly bars and restaurants, and a couple of well stocked supermarkets. Although it was 'out of season' when we were there, the Marina area was still buzzing with locals and holidaymakers until the early hours. Estepona old town is only a 10 minute walk and offers all you'd expect of a charming Spanish town with its lovely Plazas and narrow lanes. If you can, take a drive into the mountains to Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja (about 15km), there are some lovely walks and views are fantastic! Also recommended, visit Puerto Banus with its expensive yachts, cars and designer boutiques; wander round Marbella old town; or visit Ronda and the other 'white towns', the road from Marbella to Ronda is amazing if a little scary!
We are really pleased to hear that more people have enjoyed this apartment. The views from the balcony over the bay (Bahia del Cristo) are lovely, both during the day and the sunsets in the evenings.
