The Costa del Sol region

Andalucía is renowned for its scenery, culture and history and of course it is perfect for beach holidays too. The Costa del Sol extends along more than 150 kilometres of coastline in the province of Malaga. Each beach has its own charms. Some are livelier, others are quieter and more solitary; some are absolutely untouched and others have the most modern services. You will surely find your own personal paradise on the Costa del Sol.

You'll be able to visit everything from outstanding monuments to a wide variety of different natural landscapes. In Granada, you'll see the Alhambra Palace, in Seville, the cathedral and the Alcázar palace. The white villages of Andalucia are world famous. There are seven pueblos blancos located throughout the region. Casares and Gaucin are an easy drive from the villa and do not miss Ronda, perched on a breathtaking gorge, picturesque and perfect for amateur photographers.

There are all types of sports facilities. Andalusia is Europe's leading golf tourist destination due to the quality of its courses and their pristine locations. If you prefer the water there are numerous marinas and yacht clubs. Historically, the region has always been closely linked to equestrianism, and there is a great tradition for equestrian sports. Within 4 km of the villa is the largest equestrian centre in Andalucia and also be sure to visit Jerez to see "How Andalusian Horses Dance" - an amazing equestrian ballet with Spanish music, where the horses are the true stars.

This region is the true home of typically Spanish experiences. Bullfighting, tapas, flamenco, the guitar itself, all began in Andalucía and remain deeply embedded here. Deeply traditional yet ready to seize the modern world, Andalucians always live life to the full and visitors to this region cannot fail to get caught up in the fun.

Estepona is one of the few coastal towns that has succeeded in maintaining its pueblo charm and character, despite the onslaught of tourism. Having said that all the tourist facilities are here, including restaurants, leisure and cultural activities, and shops. Numerous street cafes and tapas bars still serve traditional Spanish delicacies and the steep, cobbled, narrow streets in the old quarter seem more suited to horses than cars.

The Estepona Marina is situated at the west end of the seafront promenade. This is a very pleasant place for a stroll and there are some magnificent boats moored here. There is also a wide variety of excellent bars and restaurants, On Sunday morning you will find a popular tourist market in the marina. Fishing boats are located in the fishing port adjacent to the marina. Watch the catch landed, iced, sold and transported away. After midnight (especially in the summer season) the port comes alive. Numerous night clubs and discos seem to materialise from nowhere. Most of them cater for the young and energetic.

Estepona has many fine beaches. Apart from the main esplanade there's the small cove of Playa Del Cristo to the west of the town, and the long sandy La Rada Beach to the East of Estepona marina.

In addition to sunbathing, Estepona provides opportunities for golf, with at least five golf courses in the local area.
