The Andalucia region
Puerto Paraiso is ideally situated overlooking the marina in the heart of Estepona's thriving fishing port & marina. Cristo Beach (5 minutes west of the apartment) is a delightful oyster-shaped cove of sheltered, gently shelving sand, ideal for children and La Rada Beach (5 minutes East of the apartment) runs for 2km past the old town and is a lovely walk along the promenade (Paseo Maritimo). For many years both beaches have been awarded EC Blue Flag status for cleanliness and safety and in high season are manned daily with lifeguards. They also have well maintained toilet and shower facilities and a choice of chiringuitos (beach front restaurants) with a true Spanish feel. Ideal for spending a full day on the beach!
Within a few minutes walk you will find several supermarkets and shops and the local tapas bars and restaurants are situated in Estepona Marina an easy 2 minutes walk away.
Estepona, due to its natural environment, surrounded by the sea and Sierra Bermeja mountains, enjoys a microclimate with over 325 days of sunshine per year and also lovely mild winters. A perfect escape for some winter sun.
Estepona has many facets which makes it a popular holiday destination for those looking for a relaxing break to unwind, eat well, have a cool drink and chill out people watching. It has 2 EC Blue Flag beaches, a popular marina area with many tapas bars and restaurants and a lovely white walled town with a pedestrianised shopping area. All within a 10 minute walk.
Some areas of interest that you may with to visit are:
Gibraltar - Only 35 minutes drive from Estepona (and on the local bus route), Gibraltar is a sunny, VAT-free haven where you can find duty free bargains from electronic equipment & jewellery to leather & perfumes & haggling is encouraged! Make sure you don't miss the spectacular natural caverns of St. Michael's Caves or visit the Ape's Den, home to some of Gibraltar's famous Barbary Apes, the only free-to-roam primates in Europe. Watch out for monkey business as they can be mischievous and have been known to pick the occasional pocket looking for treats.
Puerto Banus - Puerto Banus is about 25 minutes drive away. It has a large number of designer stores including Versace and Armani. Perfect for millionaire spotting and you may also see a famous face in the port as a number of Hollywood stars have summer homes there.
Laguna Village - A stunning high class shopping experience just 10 minutes drive away. Whether spending an extravagant day at the beach club, shopping in the designer stores or spending time in the luxurious bars and restaurants then Laguna Village (www.laguna-village.com) is the ideal place.
Selwo Safari Park - Only 20 minutes drive away and on the public transport route, Selwo is ideal for the perfect family day out. The park is based on an African safari park and houses 2000 animals from giraffes to panthers in semi-wild conditions. Like Jurassic Park, large open sided lorries drive you through the various animal enclosures and up into the hills above Estepona. There are elephants, bears, hippos and so much more to see. In the summer, cover up as it can get very hot and there is not much shelter.
Golf - There are over 20 courses within a 45 minute drive. The local Estepona Golf Club (www.esteponagolf.com) is reasonably priced between 20 - 60 euro's for a round and the Sunday Express regarded their greens as some of the best on the Costa Del Sol. Also Monte Mayor Golf and Country Club (www.montemayorgolf.laperlainternationalliving.com) with its exciting fairway winding through dramatic gullies, ravines and streams, offers a superb challenge to even the most experienced golfers.

"Not as advertised"

"Spotless, well located apartment."
Me and my husband spent 10 days staying in this apartment in Estepona. We arrived late in the evening and were delighted with the location, situated overlooking the Port, everything you need within minutes walking distance. We travelled to Gibraltar on the local buses which are reliable and regular. This was our first time visiting Estepona and will definitely be back. Loved the welcome pack on arrival, just what you need after a long journey is a cold beer or a glass of wine. Thanks for making our holiday one to remember.

"Excellent Flat in Estepona"
We stayed at this excellent apartment for 10 days in August. The apartment is very much like a home, well decorated and maintained with lovely touches and all one could wish for. Booking was easy with Andy, all emails being promptly replied to and lots of excellent advice. Steve and Jadzia met us at the apartment and were perfect hosts, offering advice and making us feel at home.
The apartment overlooks a pool area which is functional and can get a bit busy at times, though the other pool was quieter possibly because it was shaded. The flat is a short walk in either direction from the both beaches which allows for a quick trip to the sea though I'd recommend Cristo Beach which is a cove and much more sheltered. There was an issue with jellyfish on a few days but the local wardens cleared the beach and everyone else mucked in with nets and buckets to clear them away.
Estepona is a delightful town which has luckily missed out on the high rise developments and certainly isn't a "Brits on tour' type of resort. Still very Spanish with a delightful old town consisting of quiet alleys and courtyards with gardens and fountains. Andy recommends many fine dining establishments around the port area which range from local cuisine to oriental. We enjoyed Thapa, a Thai restaurant with superb service and portions that were manageable. The bars can a get a bit noisy at times, more from chatting but that tended to be on Friday and Saturday nights only.
You can get around by the excellent coach service but we hired a car from Malagacar to allow a tour of the area. A visit to Gibraltar is a must though I would strongly recommend that you queue to go into Gib as the car parking on the Spanish side can be very expensive-it was £3 for a day in Gib and over 15 Euros in Spain, plus fuel is much cheaper below £ per litre! A visit to the rock is well worth the money especially by cable car which allows visits to some of the fortifications and caves as well. We also visited Casares and Ronda, the later with a long journey back on some challenging roads but with superb views of white villages. stuck on their hill tops.
This was a perfect location for a truly restful holiday and very good value. I would highly recommend this property.

This season the entire coast has experienced an issue with Jellyfish but it is a great testement to the local authority that they responded so quickly by hiring boats to "sweep" them up and also to dispose off any that landed on the beach promptly.
Hopefully, this did not detract from your stay with us and hopefully we will see you again in the future.

"A little bit of paradise in Estepona"
My husband, daughter (aged 15) and I booked this apartment for a 10 day stay in Estepona. We fell in love with the place the moment we arrived. The apartment was very spacious, clean and welcoming and was of a very high standard. The view of the marina from the balcony was just stunning. We used both pools, which were very clean, but not too busy - at one point we had the pool to ourselves! The local supermarket was just over the road, and was very reasonable. Andy had already emailed us with lots of info on the area re bars, happy hour etc, and everything he said was right. We tried several of the local restaurants, and we also enjoyed a lovely stroll along the promenade to Estepona old town, where we had a very nice meal in the square. The apartment was in an excellent location, near lots of local restaurants and bars, and just a few minutes walk to two lovely beaches, but it is also in a great postion to travel further afield. The apartment is about a 10 min walk to the bus station, and we caught the bus to Gibraltar, and also to Puerto Banus. The trip to Gibraltar took about an hour. You actually get off in Spain and then walk over the border across the runway - quite an experience! We went up the cable car to the top of the rock to see the apes (loved the apes, great views - highly recommend) and we also booked a boat trip to see the dolphins (another 'must do'). Don't be tempted to book a combined trip at the booth on the Spanish border, claiming it's your last chance to book, as it is more expensive-it would have cost us 105 Euros, but we did both trips for about 75 Euros when we got to Gibraltar. Another great day out was to Selwo Safari Park in Estepona. We had to get a taxi as there's no local bus that goes direct- takes about 10-15 minutes-cost about 10 euros each way. However, if you pick up a discount voucher leaflet at the airport (which we did) then the money you save for the entry fee could more or less cover the taxi fare-another highly recommended day out. When we were going home we caught the bus direct to the airport (took about an hour) cost less than 25 euros for the three of us. We did the same when we arrived, but missed the direct bus because we hadn't bought our tickets from the booth (which is right outside the airport). We had to get the bus to Marbella, and then another bus to Estepona (the connections are all at the same bus station, so very easy to do) but it took ages as it was midday. So buy your tickets for the bus first at the airport or you might not get on! Estepona was just a beautiful place, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Can't wait to go back!!
