About the home
Bahia Dorada is an older, architect-designed residential area with a distinctive attraction. All houses are different in their layout and resemble majestic white sails when seen from the beach area. This apartment is at the end of the front line of apartments facing the beach and is therefore very quiet. It is open plan with a large mezzanine bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The bedroom is open to the living room downstairs. There is a splendid view over the beach and sea from the large bedroom windows. The living room, kitchen and dining room are downstairs and have views of the lawn and the sea as well.
The apartment is approximately 80m2, has high, vaulted ceilings and is therefore very spacious with lots of natural light. The sliding french windows of the living room open onto a private 20m2 terrace. This in turn gives onto the lawn and beach access. It is an ideal property for a couple alone or with two children. There are also two very comfortable fold-out single beds at one end of the living room. The large communal swimming pool, surrounded by trees and lawn, is two minutes from the door of the apartment, through the gardens.

Further details indoors:
The special feature of this apartment is undoubtedly its beachfront situation and its calm environment. There are no roads and no cars between the apartment and the beach. The lawns are communal and it is very safe for children to play. The beach itself is used infrequently by the public and often you have it to yourself. It is safe for swimming and there is good fishing from the rocks at the point under the old stone lookout tower nearby. You can walk easily about 1 km along the beach to a nudist swimming area at the far end, in "Costa Natura", if you wish.
Further details outdoors:
There is surveillance of the whole residential area in Bahia Dorada and a large team of gardeners and workers maintain the gardens and installations in perfect shape. The gardens have night lighting. Bahia Dorada has been declared a protected zone by the Andalusian government because of its extensive gardens and mature vegetation.
The swimming pool is large and kidney shaped and is very safe for children.
There are shaded parking lots just one minute from the door of the apartment, through a delightful garden. The neighbours are friendly, most of them British in origin.

The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol has a mild Mediterranean climate; long, warm summers and short, mild winters.
There are lots of day excursions to do in the area, including mountain walking, visiting the white villages in the Serrania de Ronda and visiting historic Ronda itself. Visits to Gibraltar are within an easy drive as are the Atlantic beaches of Cádiz province and the town of moorish architecture, Tarifa. A highly recommended visit is to Casares village, (16kms), to admire its spectacular mountainous setting and views of the Northafrican coast. For those interested in not too difficult mountain walking, some beautiful walks may be done in the Sierra de las Nieves, (45 kms approximately). There you can see unique remnants of the "Pinsapo" forest, a type of fir tree almost extinct in Europe. As well, eagles, vultures and wild deer may be seen. Above the bushline there is an area of dwarf oaks, also unique to this sierra.
The Estepona / Bahia Dorada area
Estepona conserves it´s typical Andalusian spirit and atmoshere There are innumerable good restaurants to eat out at. Fresh fish from the local fishing fleet ensures excellent dining. A speciality are fresh sardines grilled on the spit over an open fire at the beach restaurants, the "chiringuitos". There are many outdoor terraces and cafes and restaurants to choose from in small squares in the centre of the town. Excellent, large supermarkets both in and around Estepona cater for all shopping needs. (There are two big supermarkets, Mercadona and Aldi, just 1km from the apartment.)
Windsurfing and kitesurfing is possible, especially in the nearby area of the Straits of Gibralter.
The Easter parades with their solemn processions of the Virgin Mary and figures of Christ from the churches are a must. They include moments of exquisite music and flamenco singing as well as moments of intense emotion and authentic cultural expression.

| Nearest Travel Links | |
| Airport: | Málaga: 90 km |
| Railway: | Fuengirola: 50 km |
On leaving Málaga airport take the coast road motorway in direction Algeciras/ Cádiz. After approximately an hour you will reach Estepona township. Take the bypass route around Estepona, heading still in direction Cádiz/ Algeciras. After about 3 kms you will pass a roundabout, which has the hotel Elba and Costa Natura on your left and an entrance to Aldi and Mercadona supermarkets on your right. Go straight on . The motorway crosses a small stream called Arroyo Vaquero and then enters a long leftward curving bend. You will see Entrada 3 to Bahia Dorad on your left at this point as you come out of the bend. This is your entrance. However, continue on another kilometre until you reach the next roundabout. Go around this completely and come back towards Estepona, retracing your steps. You will pass three other entrances to Bahia Dorada on your right as you come back , but your entrance is the last one, Entrada 3. There is a sharp right turn off the motorway and into Entrada 3. Drive slowly in and park on the left under the shaded parking area, just beyond the small roundabout with palm trees. The apartment is very close down the steps from where the shaded area finishes.
Rental cars at the airport: "Pepecar" offers cheap rentals via Niza Cars, right beside the airport.

We recently got back from a one week stay at this beautiful villa. Finding it was easy, directly off a motorway that runs along the coast. Parking was free and private (residents only). The villa itself was perfect for the two of us. It's set in a complex of other villas, and the unit itself faces the ocean. The villa is well furnished and comfortable, not brand new and immaculate but comfortable, clean and secure - very much a 'home' feel. It could easily host a family of 2 adults and 2 children, but probably not much more than that. The kitchen is not huge but definitely functional - we cooked at home to save cash and it was fine. Washing machine was new and handy to have. As is typical though unfortunate the bed was two large singles pushed together - not the best for a couple but manageable. There's a tv (no english channels) and dvd player in the living room as well as a radio. There is virtually nothing else though in the way of entertainment provided - we were wishing we had brought a deck of cards or board game or something to pass the time. There is a huge terrace that faces the sea which was perfect, there are even two small bbq's and two sun loungers provided. From the terrace you don't have to take more than 20 steps and you're on the beach. There is a communal pool which was great. The villa is surrounded by residential homes and a few hotels, but we never felt like it was a touristy area and overcrowded by people. Close by is a bar/restaurant on the beach. As the area is residential there weren't any other restaurants/pubs we found a way to walk to except for one across the motorway which was a pizzaria which we didn't go to. There is a supermarket not that far, however its a strange walk which involves crossing the motorway - not very comfortable, safe or convenient. Not having a car would have been a big hinderance if not made it virtually impossible, so I wouldn't plan on staying here without one!! Overall - Pros: wonderful villa, clean, very quiet and peaceful, not overrun with tourists, good pool, has all the necessities provided (kitchenware, blankets, towels, etc), good beach walking Cons: only one bar/restaurant within reasonable walking distance, no 'entertainment' provided such as games or cards, need a car |
