Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Cragg Cottage is a beautiful, traditional Lakeland cottage in Eskdale, one of the prettiest and least visited valleys in the Lake District.
With sensational views out to the Lakeland Fells, this comfortable cottage offers pet-friendly self catering accommodation for up to 6 people and 1 well behaved dog. The cottage has a wonderfully traditional feel throughout, with the open fire in the lounge, beautiful oven in the kitchen and the quiet study with lined bookcases. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, making it ideal for families or a small group of friends. Outside is a large walled garden, giving you plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful country air.
Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, making Cragg Cottage ideally situated. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing. The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to the sea.

About this location
The Lake District
With accessible mountains, beautiful lakes and tarns, woodlands and moorlands, the Lake District is a haven, not only for outdoor enthusiasts, but for anyone who loves peace and beauty.
The changing seasons bring with them different highlights – Spring is a time of new life with baby lambs, Wordsworth's daffodils, and walks through bluebell woods. Summer brings it's own magic, either lazing by a lake or enjoying the view from the high mountain peaks. Beautiful Autumn colours hopefully bring along an Indian Summer and wild winter on the frosty fells, makes the most of an open fire and a seasonal glass of mulled wine.
The beautiful lakes, with dramatic fells rising from their shores, are just part of a great experience of excellent local food and fantastic activities. A holiday here will live long in the memory and get you coming back for more.
Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing. The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to the sea.
There are five pubs in Eskdale and two in Ravenglass. All welcome children and serve real ales and a wide choice of good food. The village shop, Eskdale Stores, sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers.
