About the home

This spectacular Farmhouse is surrounded by private pasture and peaceful grounds with beautiful irrigated gardens, a shady olive grove, a paved orchard and water garden with swing seat perfect for an afternoon read or evening cocktail. The L-shaped swimming pool with roman steps is surrounded by extensive terracing under shady pergolas of bourgonvillia to sit under during the heat of the day. For the more energetic, there is a sanded volleyball court and acres of pasture for an early evening 5-a-side.

Inside the beautiful traditionally furnished farmhouse there are 7 ground level bedrooms (3 Kingsize, 4 Twin) each with ensuite bath/shower and cooled by ceiling fans. A large beamed living room with log burning fire for cooler evenings and satellite TV/DVD, radio and video is provided

A fully fitted kitchen with split level cooker, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. Separate laundry with washing machine facilities are on site

During summer, eating and drinking is all outside on a large tiled table under a pergola served by an outside BBQ and bar. At night the terraces, grounds and pool area are softly illuminated

The Farmhouse is our home and managed by Pimms, a family friend who has lived on the island for 20 years and will be able to answer all your questions. Bill & Carmel are our concierge couple who look after the property and grounds on a day-to-day basis and are willing to babysit, cater and provide extra cleaning/laundry if required.

The countryside around the farmhouse is totally protected as a special ecological area and there are some lovely walks.


Travel/Distances:

7 minutes drive to Es Grao beach. 0.5 hour walk to the coast.
Mahon airport is 15 minutes.
Car hire is essential. We can help and advise with flight arrangements and car hire


Mahon,the capital of Menorca, with its spectacular natural harbour fringed with bars and restaurants is 10 minutes drive away. There are excellent supermarkets here plus banks and all the amenities you would associate with a regional capital.

Es Grao, a fishing village in a sheltered bay with a safe sandy beach, shallow water and opportunities for hiring sailing dinghies and windsurfers is a 7 minute drive away. There are also bars, beachside restaurants and a small friendly supermarket

The Menorca region

Smaller and quieter than its neighbor Mallorca , Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic islands. Situated just 21 miles from Mallorca , the island of Menorca is very family-friendly focussed and has almost as many beaches as Mallorca and Ibiza combined. Peaceful towns line the south coast and a string of quiet fishing villages are along the islands rougher northern shore.

Current population of around 68,000. Compared to its neighbor island Mallorca , it is of course lesser in size and has a more hushed environment. This is probably the main reason why many wholesome family holidays are geared towards this tranquil island

Mao [Mahon] has been the capital of Menorca, since the British moved it from Ciutadella in 1721. The harbour at 5 km long, over 1 km at its widest point is one of the largest natural harbours in the world.
The port itself is relaxing by day and buzzing by night. The bars and restaurants along the portside come alive at night it is easy to spend many hours down in the port, watching the ships, admiring the view, enjoying the hospitality of the restaurants, or just sat taking in the atmosphere.

The town itself has plenty to offer the visitor. Most of the shopping is along pedestrian streets with wonderful cake shops, swish boutiques, leather, pottery and fresh fish and food in the markets.

With narrow streets to explore, pleasant shady squares with welcoming pavement cafes and shopping that ranges from the twice weekly market to the expensive designer boutiques. Mao is a must on every visit to Menorca.

The Es Grau area

Es Grau is a typical Menorcan fishing village, unspoilt and secluded in a nature reserve - 85% of the population being Menorcan. There are three bars, one waterside restaurant, a well stocked supermarket and numerous beaches, which are 'very safe' for children and clean clear warm water makes it ideal for snorkelling and there are good facilities for wind surfing and other water sports. The large nature reserve and surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers and explorers with unspoilt trails and superb views. Although secluded in its own bay, it is only four miles from Mahan Harbour where there are numerous restaurants, bars and nightlife

Mahon is easily reached by direct charter flights from all UK airports in just 2+hours. Scheduled international flights come in via Barcelona or Madrid.
Our farmhouse is just a 15 minute journey from Mahon airport. We can arrange for a hire car to meet you there and will send you a detailed map and instructions to navigate you from the airport to the house
You will need a car during your stay and we can recommend a good local company and prebook your vehicle if you wish. Local taxis from the airport will charge approx 20 euros and your car can be delivered to the farmhouse if you are arriving late at night and don't want to drive in the dark
