About the home

This lovely detached villa, in 1/4 acre of grounds, is located in Son Vilar, a peaceful village on the outskirts of Mahon (Capital) and Es Castell (popular fishing village) both of which have excellent amenities, and restaurants and bars galore. Many gorgeous beaches are an easy 20 min drive away.

The villa is fully equipped (including Satellite FreeSat TV) and all the bedrooms are air conditioned (both cool or heat). There is a large terrace with private pool which has Roman Steps at the shallow end (ideal for children, or the elderly). There is an excellent BBQ and a further patio for al fresco dining, abnd there are plenty of sunbeds for everyone.

The villa is registered and has passed the scrutinty of the Menorca tourist board.

The villa is fully cleaned and prepared for your arrival and subsequent departure.

All linen and towels are provided (but please bring your own BEACH TOWELS).

For stays of two weeks or more the villa has a interim weekly clean and complete linen and towel change.

There is a large Terrace with a BBQ and eating area.

The private swimming pool (8M X 5M) has Roman Steps at the shallow end, and is fully serviced twice a week during the summer.

There is a local manager available to deal with any villa or pool problems at no cost to tenents.

A substantial complimentary Welcome Pack is provided for your arrival containing: bread, butter, marmalade, eggs, cheese, tea, coffee, water, fruit juice, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, soap, matches, red/white wine, and a carton of beer.

Conditions

The property is on one level with a one step entrance. Elderly and wheelchair users may not find this a problem but should bear this in mind.

The Menorca region

The magical Mediterranean Island of Menorca (Minorca) has over 120 beaches, some of them being the most beautiful in Europe. Most are unspoiled and they are to be be found in every nook and cranny of the coastline of an island only 30 miles by 12. Some are long stretches of fine sand, others are sheltered bays or coves. The sea is of the clearest blue with an unmatchable clarity and with the most agreeable of temperatures which make it a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, or for those just lounging and chilling out.

During the year there is an average of 300 days of sunshine with an average of 5 hours a day in winter and more than 10 hours a day in summer.

For those interested in history and culture there is much to see and do, while for lovers of good food and wine there are some excellent local restaurants offering very reasonably priced meals and the waterside cave bars in Es Castell (5 min's drive) enable you to soak up the atmosphere. For those on a budget I provide a guide for my tenants of local restaurants to eat (3 courses) for less than 11 Euros (£8) (including wine)!

The Es Castell / Son Vilar area

Es Castell is a popular fishing village just five mins drive from the villa. There is an abundance of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and pockets. The harbour is particularly attractive and atmospheric, and the cave bars and restaurants really come alive in the evening.

The villa is situated in Son Vilar, a quiet residential village on the outskirts of the popular Mahon and Es Castell, and is close to amenities, superb restaurants and bars, and a short drive to gorgeous beaches. An ideal base for families, couples, or groups of friends seeking a villa holiday on this lovely Island. It is fully equipped (including Satellite FreeSat TV), and all linen is supplied and laundered weekly. A hire car can be arranged direct in Menorca with a good discount for my tenants.

There are several budget airlines that fly to Menorca (Mahon) and you can find the best deals using a search on the web. If you are having difficulty with this then please contact the owner.

Mahon airport is only a 20 min drive to the villa and taxis wait outside the arrivals area (£15 approx). However, a hire car is strongly advised for your holiday and my tenants receive a good discount for pre booked cars. You will be met at the airport with your car and easy driving instructions on how to get to the villa. If you need more information on local car hire please contact the owner for help.

“Perfection” “There are many things which make this particular villa very special. Firstly, its location is ideal. It is located in a small quiet village on the east side of the island, close to the capital Mahon and within walking distance of the lovely town of Es Castell. Both Mahon and Es Castell offer very good eating places - the harbour front at Mahon has a promenade of restaurants of all types – whilst in Es Castell and nearby Cala Font /Cala Cobb you can find some lovely typical Spanish eateries. The villa is situated in a quiet residential area, surrounded by other Spanish and some English residents . You live here as the Spanish do, within their community as opposed to being within a holiday complex with other holiday makers. What however makes this villa so special is the owner's attention to detail both inside and outside. Inside it is equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday and even, if needed, DVD's and satellite television in English. The kitchen is well stocked and the welcome pack is considerable. The villa is very clean and is well maintained. Outside, within its own walled garden with its own private driveway is the lovely pool, designed with roman steps into make getting in or out much easier. This makes it ideal for both young and old, and when very hot allows you sit in the pool with a glass on the side – so relaxing!!! The well stocked garden is visited by a local gardener and the pool is regularly maintained. The veranda is a lovely place to be during the evening to just sit and relax with a glass or two, and the owner has recently made a shaded area for those really hot days!! Admittedly you don't have a view of the sea, but be assured you have the peace and quiet which more than makes up for the lack of view. We feel that a car is essential whilst staying at this villa though it is only a short walk to the bus route into Mahon.”

“Great Villa fully equipped in a location to suit most people for staying in or going out.” 5th stay at this villa in 3 years so my opinion speaks for itself really. We had a car which is a good idea to get the best out of Menorca but a 15 to 20 minute walk(5 mins in a car) in either direction takes you to Mahon harbour or Es Castell, both of which are lovely with an abundance of places to eat and drink, staff are always happy to call cabs if we didn't fancy walking back( 5 or 6 euros). The villa itself is also perfect for staying in, with nice pool and BBQ area we often make the most of this as an option. Never had any reasons to complain as everything is always as it should be and shall be booking again.

“Ideal villa in ideal Location” Have stayed here several times and keep returning. The villa is in a small residential area which means it is not overrun with tourists. It is quiet and in an ideal location as one is able to walk (20 mins) both into Mahon and Es Castell. The villa itself provides everything one could possibly need including air conditioning in all three bedrooms which is invaluable, Amenities in the villa are second to none as also provided are a tv, cd player, radio, washing machine, fridge/freezer etc.. A substantial welcome pack is also provided dor your arrival. The outside area is superb with a lovely pool, sunbeds and 4 parasols for escaping the sun, two at each end of the villa. Being close to Mahon port and Cala's Fons at Es Castell is a real bonus as both locations are so interesting and vibrant, especially during the evenings when visits to the many excellent restaurants are not to be missed. However, if you prefer to eat in, this is not a problem with a well equipped kitchen and a great barbeque near the pool. My wife and I would highly recommend this villa and There is no doubt that we shall be returning there in 2012.

“Fantastic Villa that we will return to again and again.” A lovely, lovely Villa. This is our 3rd visit and we are already booking for next year. In a quiet area and within walking distance to both Mahan and Es Castell and the shops and restaurants. A home from home with a lovely pool and setting. Beautifully clean and equipped. Large screen Television where we were able to watch the Nadel and Murray matches. The owners are really lovely and although we have never met them, nothing is too much trouble for them. The information package is the best I have ever seen. We have been visiting Menorca for over 20 years and wish we had found this Villa earlier. We hire a car, which the owner arranges for you and visit all the places in Menorca that we have grown to love. I would not hesitate to recommend this Villa whether you are a couple or a family and you may find yourselves, like us, returning again and again.

“Very Comfortable” A great location equidistant from restaurants and cafes in Es Castell and Mahon harbours. . All amenities included to make a great holiday. Very clean and well furnished. Outside gardens with swimming pool are a major plus. The owner goes to great lengths to ensure all visitors are satisfied. Our second visit and hope to repeat again another year
