The Peloponnese region

Hermionis is a region of Argolis peninsula. The area is in the near distance of Athens and several other well known and cosmopolitan regions such as Ancient Corinth and the Isthmus Canal, Ancient Sparta, Ancient Olympia, the islands of Spetses and Hydra, Nauplio, Argos, Epidaurus with the well-known ancient theater and Mycenae which golden palaces and kings inspirated Homer song of Ilium and was the cradle of the bronze age Mycenean Civilization.

The area of Hermionis got its name from the city-state of Hermione.

The city-state took part in the Trojan War(Iliad), the Battle of Salamis and thousands years ago(before our time) was visited by notable travelers such as Pausanias and Strabo.

Today, the ancient and medieval glory of the city can be found at the preserved citade at the acre of Hermone's peninsula and at the medieval-Byzantine castle of Thermissia.

Hermione now is neither a city nor a state like in ancient times, but a beautiful traditional village three klm from Eperia.

The hospitality and the beauty of the area located in the center between the Argolid, Argosaronic and Saronic leaves no one untouched.

Local events attract thousands of people for their unique and fascinating themes, the most known are: Gyala-Gyala in Hermione each January referring to the purification of the sea and the waters; the burning of Judas in Hermione each Greek-Orthodox Easter referring to the hell punishment of Judas-the betrayer figure in Christianity; Miaulia in Hydra each June referring to the glorious actions of captain Miaulis against the Ottoman fleet; Armata in Spetsae each September referring also to the victory of the Greek fleet against the Ottoman during the War of Independence of 1821.

As already mentioned the estate of Eperia lies 3km out of Hermione in Dardisa an area full of olive groves, wild low Mediterranean vegetation, beautiful small beaches and few family holiday homes both of Greeks and other Europeans.

Eperia occupies a superb position in the sparsely populated region. A region that combines the untouched natural beauty of the Mediterranean landscapes with the easy and short time transition to other cosmopolitan destinations.

You can swim to a number of unspoiled beaches or you can walk up to our rocky hills full of pine trees which have great view of the near coasts and islands. Near the coast of Eperia is also a small rocky island named Chelononisi after the sea turtles which have been found there swimming.

Tranquility, continuous summers, clear and sunny weather, calm blue waters and clear beaches are the main elements of our region.
