About this location
The Hebrides region
The region offers some of the most spectacur scenery and walking experiences in the UK. The weather is very unpredictable but only adds to the experience!.
There is a nearby golf course at Askernish in South Uist and horseriding available in Benbecula.
Local delicacies include fresh crab, prawn and lobster as well as a range of locally caught fish. Stornoway black pudding is imported from Lewis!
The area is rich in history and is particularly famous as the landing place of Bonny Prince Charlie in 1745 and for events surrounding the sinking of the SS politician that ran aground off Eriskay in 1942 with its cargo of whisky and currency bound for Jamaica. It offers much in the way of Gaelic culture and there are a range of festivals and events throughout the year celebrating the music and language. The scenery is stunning and there are a range of nature walks nearby and on other islands. There is lots to interest nature lovers such as the Eriskay ponies that roam freely, seals and porpoises and The Balranald bird reserve in South Uist. Sea and loch fishing are also popular. There are visitor centres and places of interest such as the museum at Kildonan.

So glad you had a good holiday and made such good use of what's available in the house - and beyond! We do plan to continue to develop the house further to include an extra bathroom but glad that this did not seem to spoil your over all enjoyment of what it offers. We would be delighted to welcome you all back again!

"A teriffic holiday cottage"
Excellent accommodation; this was a spacious very modern self-catering holiday home in a stunning location; It has outstanding views both from the cottage itself and the garden. There was ample parking to the front of the cottage and with the local shop, restaurant and beach all within 5 minutes walking distance a perfect holiday spot for simply relaxing, or for the more energetic a venue with walking and cycling from the doorstep, the property was also brilliantly situated for fishing, canoeing, and the local golf course is only a 20 minute drive. The local people were very friendly and helpful. This was our first holiday in the Outer Hebrides and I would return for another holiday in this cottage.

"Unspoiled, relaxing and we want to go back."
Ersikay was a great base to explore the southern end of the Outer Hebrides, with fantastic walks to suit all our family, seeing porpoises and sea otters. Wildlife is all around and we had great fun identifying the bird community. Events advertised at local co-op made for a fun night out. Food in local pub was tasty and excellent value. The accomodation is very comfortable with excellent facilities including enclosed garden with comfortable furniture and easy access through patio doors. Spacious areas with relaxing, comfortable feel to the living area. Particularly appreciated the Ipod docking station. The kitchen was better stocked than other places we visisted, with which we took advantage to cook locally caught fresh produce. All in all a fantastic holiday base with great outlook and short walk to the beach where we had a lovely BBQ. Arrived frazzled, stressed out and left completely chilled. We'll be back.........
