Preveza is an excellent holiday destination because it combines good food, very nice beaches, not many tourists, reasonable prices, easy accessibility to Lefkas and Parga and many other interesting destinations hidden from the majority of the tourists.
You can visit the area any time of the year (spring-summer-autumn), but the best months to come to Preveza is September and October, as at the time the prevailing winds are usually north, north-east, which makes the Ionian Sea look almost like a huge crystal clear lake.
If you can afford to take your holidays in September and early October, you would love the place.
Apart from the very nice beeches of the Ionian Sea, where Kalamitsi is also situated, there are also many places of historical, archaeological and natural interest that you might want to visit and see.

The worldwide known sea-battle of Actium, in which Cleopatra of Egypt and Marc Anthony lost their world to Octavian Caesar, took place just next to Preveza. Nicopolis, the City of Victory, was built by Octavian Caesar to celebrate his victory over Marc Anthony and Cleopatra. The remains of this very large city are 7 km north of Preveza and are worth while visiting during your stay here. The new Archaeological museum is a must for those that like history.
Cassopi, an ancient Greek city of the 4th century BC, is an astonishing place to visit with a spectacular view of the plains of Preveza, the Ionian Sea and the island of Lefkas. Its well preserved theatre is also worth a visit.
Acheron river (the river of the dead) is within an hour's drive from Preveza and apart from its historical interest it is a splendid natural monument not to be missed.
For those who love wetlands and bird watching, the estuaries of the Ambrakikos bay will offer an unforgettable visit. Silver pelicans, dolphins, sea turtles and other rare species could be seen when visiting Rodia wetlands or sailing into the bay with a boat from Preveza.
With the best fish caught within the Ambrakikos bay, you will enjoy unforgettable fish dishes in the narrow roads of Preveza, where fish tavernas are located. Excellent Greek cuisine, fresh salads, vegetables and fruits are also a must for the lovers of good food when visiting Preveza.

"On the Beach, Amazing Sea View, Authentic Greek Living"
Kalamitsi Villa is the holiday home and a lovely family and the interior reflects this with a real homely feel.
Situated right on the beach with direct private access through a gate you are ideally positioned for long, lazy days with little or no company.
The house offers a fully equipped kitchen, spacious and comfortable bedrooms, a nice 'airy' feel, private parking and good broadband connection plus outside you'll find a shower, plenty of space and an abundance of fruit trees which attracts some amazing wildlife.
Car hire strongly advised.
Only a couple of kilometres from the main town of Preveza where you'll find everything you need including great fish tavernas for eating out or friendly fish-mongers for eating in plus supermarkets full of fresh produce.
The pedestrianised main street is full of boutique shops and well worth a visit as is the harbour front where there always seems to be something happening and offers great views across the lagoon.
The house is located well for trips to historical sites, popping across to Lefkada, driving up to Ammouthia for a trip up the river to Hades!, visiting the historic town of Parga and much, much more.
We really enjoyed our week here, after driving from the UK it was a lovely way to unwind in the first week of our holiday.
The family were extremely welcoming and generous, Olga & Nikos are on the end of the telephone should you need anything at all.
