BookThe Christ Church Parish region
Christ Church is the southernmost parish of Barbados, with stunning beaches and a very warm welcome extended to visitors. Christ Church is a dream destination for nature lovers and those who wish to laze in the glorious sunshine on fine, white, sandy beaches with a rum cocktail. Bridgetown, the capital, is just 15km away.
Christ Church is the island's fishing centre so there are plenty of opportunities to catch a trophy fish. There are many fishing charters available from Oistins, and there are also frequent opportunities to go scuba diving on the coral reefs which surround the island.
The most lively tourist area, St Lawrence Gap, has a good variety of bars and clubs and is about 2 miles away. Some of the best restaurants on the island are situated in ‘The Gap’!
Whether you are looking for a heavenly summer holiday or looking to escape the winter blues, this is the place to go. With seasonal variations of just 2°C, whatever time of year you decide to go, average temperatures are going to hover around the 30°C mark.......and remember the average sea temperature is a gorgeous 28°C!
Golfing holidays: Fodor's 'Caribbean 2006' travel guide says of Barbados... 'Golfers can choose from among some of the best championship courses in the Caribbean.' Sunny weather all year round makes Barbados an ideal location for golf and the perfect vacation spot for golfers and 'would-be' golfers! The glorious weather conditions are complemented by world-class golf courses and facilities. Most golf clubs offer professional instruction.
Closest to Calypso is the Barbados Golf Club which is located at Durants in Christ Church (1.5 miles from the house). 'The 18 hole golf course features two “Returning Nines” which finish into a expansive and unique triple green that wrap seamlessly around a lake.' The 6,805 yard par 72 links style golf course features gently rolling hills and wide open fairways.
Other golf courses on the island include the famous Sandy Lane golf course and the Royal Westmoreland.
The Enterprise Coast area
Enterprise beach is also known as Paradise Beach in recognition that this is one of the finest beaches in the region. Largely sheltered, sea conditions are ideal, with warm still waters perfect for swimming all year round. If you are looking for crowded beaches and loud bars, Enterprise is not the answer!
This is a truly romantic spot, where peace and quiet perfectly compliments the perfect scenery. Bajan’s celebrate Enterprise as one of their best kept secrets, as the beach is perfect for families, with safe swimming, wide expanses of soft sand and plenty of shade from the sun. Sun loungers, body boards and fresh fruit are available to rent on the beach and there is a refreshments stall selling beers, soft drinks and snacks.

Met on arrival, as arranged, & shown round clean, very well furnished lovely house in small private cul de sac with everything you would need on holiday, plus more, including some friendly neighbours, who were owners of the neighbouring properties. Plenty of space & ideal with children, as bedrooms on same floor, & added benefit of 2 bathrooms upstairs (1 en-suite) as well as downstairs cloakroom. Lovely patio garden to sit in at any time (even in the rain!) & also enjoy the varied visiting wildlife. Good location near to Oistins where there are plenty of places to eat & a good supermarket, although sometimes the walk to Enterprise beach can feel longer than its 10 mins due to the heat (& a little bit uphill on the way back), although it is most definitely worth it, including for the views on the way! Probably the best beach in Barbados, according to the locals, & has amenities such as showers & toilets, as well as places to buy food & drink & shade under the trees if you need it. The beach also has two parts to it, one very calm that is ideal for families & the other side which has bigger waves, so take your pick. We didn't hire a car this time, although the bus system is so easy & cheap to use anyway. Would most definitely recommend Calypso in terms of accommodation, location & overall fantastic holiday experience. |

We were so happy to return to this property. We had rented here last year and it was perfect. It is located within walking distance of our favorite beach and also the food and fun at Oistens Fish Market. The owners are very thoughtuf and have equipped the unit with all the comforts of home. It is very comfy and clean. An added bonus is the beautiful garden accessed by french doors onto the patio. We have been travelling to Barbados for years and thrilled to have found the perfect accomodation for all our future trips! |

We have been staying at this house for the past three years. We all enjoy the peace and quiet of the location while providing easy access to a quiet and discreet beach 5 minutes away. We also enjoy the discreet little fishing village of Oistin and the friendly attitude of the local people at the beach and in the village. It is also very accessible to Bridgetown either by public transportation or yur own vehicle. We also enjoy sharing these facilities with our children and grandchildren, who enjoy the nearby beaches and the local fish market in Oistin where we can participate in feeding the large sea turtles. A very relaxed and comfortable experience. The twice weekly housekeeping service is excellent and the personnel are very friendly and will even shop and cook some of their local fishes! Great place to get away from the cold winters of Canada! |
