The Galway / County Clare / County Clare region

County Clare has much to offer those who enjoy nature and the great outdoors as well as a variety of excellent restaurants and traditional Irish pubs. A variable climate not disimilar to the UK and reliable on the pressure-systems of the Atlantic, Ireland's west coast is awash with dramatic peninsulars and stuning landscapes. Burren National Park just 16km away is home to many flora and fauna as well as some interesting limestone formations. Hiking and walking tours can be arranged at the Burren Information Centre in Kilfenora.

Ennistymon area

Ennistymon has a leisurely, relaxed feel to life. There is a great tradition of music and ballads and these can be experienced in many local bars and the Traditional Singing Festival is held in the town each June. The Cascades Walk takes you along the River Cullenagh where it rushes in and over rocks through heart of town.

An area of particular interest for those enjoying outdoor pursuits and the beauty of nature. Sea and course angling can be enjoyed in the sea or many lakes of the region. There are 3 championship golf courses within 30 minutes drive. Surf shops in nearby Lahinch offer equipment hire and lessons. Ailwee limestone caves make for an interesting day out and Seaworld in Lahinch is great for children. Horse riding is also available nearby.

How to get there

From Galway: take the N18 Going South. At Kilcolgan, approximately 15kms from Galway, turn right and follow signs to Ennistymon (Approximately 40kms).

From Limerick/Shannon Airport: take the N18 North to Ennis. In Ennis, take the first exit off the main Limerick/Galway roundabout (N85), heading for Lahinch. After approximately 20kms, you will arrive into Ennistymon.
