The house is traditionally designed to catch the cooling trade-wind breezes through the rooms; plus super ceiling fans are fitted in every room area as well as on both verandas. The rooms all have operating louvred shuttering bi-fold doors with fixed nets to let air flow through the villa.
The house has a well equipped open-plan kitchen and reception room on the upper level leading out to the large upper veranda dining area with its large circular table, which seats 8 people comfortably. The sunset view overlooking Falmouth Harbour Bay is the ideal setting for relaxed family holiday meals and entertaining, especially cocktails at sundown!
There are separate lounge areas on the two levels with comfortable seating areas as well as cushioned loungers on both verandas.
There are 2 Bali sofa/ day beds which convert to proper single beds in the lower lounge area to accomodate up to 2 extra people if the circumstances of the clients stay requires, eg a wedding guest group, a family with younger/ teenage children or the crew attending sailing week etc.
All the house water is solar heated with an immersion heater back up if necessary.
Rain water is collected in a cistern under the house and we have an American whole house triple filter system fitted to a good water standard and though we recommend bottled water for drinking, water from the taps is safe.
The house has a monitored security alarm system and also a safe for laptops and valuables.
There is a cot/bed suitable for babies and toddlers 0-4 yrs old.
|Further details outdoors|
Entering from the gated car parking area through the locked 'Bali Gate' into the garden ensures privacy and security around the villa.
There is also an exterior warm Bali shower to wash off sand when returning from the beach by the front porch.
Landscaped gardens around the house are planted with a variety of colourful tropical plants and trees including cactus, palms, avocado, mango, lime and banana trees, frangipani, hibiscus and bougainvillea.
Bird watching is a pleasure here as hummingbirds, bananaquits, doves and sparrowhawks, are attracted into the gardens and surrounding hillside.
Binoculars are provided in the house to spot frigate birds, pelicans and other sea birds over the bay as well as 'yacht spot' as the great variety of boats and super yachts pass by as they enter or leave Falmouth Harbour.
Just 5 minutes walk to Pigeon beach and Bumpkins cafe or Catherines Cafe Plage restaurant.
5 minutes towards English Harbour, Nesons Dockyard and all the restaurants bars and shops at Falmouth Harbour.
A favourite hike takes one across Middle Ground between Nelsons Dockyard and Pigeon Beach, a shorter circular walk following the dirt trail to Pigeon Beach joins the road near to Zandoli.
Our housekeeper Fiona prepares the house and welcomes guests on arrival.
She shows clients all the facilities of the house and demonstrates the security alarm system.
There is maid-service twice weekly coming to clean and tidy the house, changing all bedding, bath and beach towels and do the house laundry.
Any other special requirements can be made by arrangement with Fiona, such as babysitting, for which payment is made directly to her.
A service gratuity is not included in the rental sum and should be left in cash for Fiona and paid at the end of the holiday.
The lovely gardens surrounding Villa Zandoli are tended to by the gardener Gilberto who comes two mornings a week when Fiona is also there.
The Antigua region
The house is located in a residential area within the tranquil National Parkland area of English Harbour one side of the road leading down to one of the loveliest sandy beaches on the island at Pigeon Point; a well maintained family beach, with safe swimming, shade, a kids recreation area, toilets, showers and a beach bar and restaurant. The opposite side of the road has unspoilt natural hillside right to the beach.
English Harbour the most Historic region in Antigua with abundant evidence of it's Naval past is within easy walking distance of the house. The most important being the C18th Nelsons Dockyard 'the only surviving Georgian dockyard in the world' yet still an area of yachting activity. A living museum with old colonial buildings housing associated businesses as well as a museum, hotels and excellent restaurants.
A gentle walk from the dockyard takes one to Fort Berkely at the neck of English Harbour, a more active hike over the top of the Hill crosses Middle Ground, with the remains several Forts, ends back down at Pigeon Beach. There are several walking and hiking trails throughout the English Harbour Parks area steeped in Naval History and the most spectacular views are from the top of Shirley Heights where Sunday evening' jump up' and BBQ at sunset with the steel band playing is not to be missed.
Lively Bars, restaurants, cafes and shops are also nearby at Falmouth Harbour and by Antigua Yacht Club. An information pack in the house highlights places with personal recommendations.
A car is not essential but we do recommend renting a vehicle for exploring further afield and enjoying the Capitol, St. johns, beaches and sights to the full. Many Island activities and tours are documented in a welcome pack at the house.
There are several recommended taxi and car rental firms close by and they also do an excellent airport collection and return service.
Antigua is easily accessed with numerous daily flights from the UK (Virgin, British Airways and BMI fly direct), the USA and Canada. V.C. Bird International Airport is a hub for travel to other island destinations.
The property is about 30 minute's drive from the airport and we will give clients a detailed map which will include driving instructions. ( attached )

"Gorgeous house with lovely views"
We stayed in this house for 10 days and loved it. It is beautifully presented and every room has an en-suite which is amazing! The showers worked very well which is key after a long day at the beach. The house has everything you need - a shower outside to clean off after the beach, two living areas and lots of games provided to keep you busy, a well equipped kitchen and beautiful terraces with extremely comfy sun loungers and a place for al fresco dining. The only thing lacking is a swimming pool but it is such a short walk to Pigeon beach you don't need one. Also very close to the main port area with all the lovely restaurants and bars. We walked everywhere. Another point is that the house keeper, Fiona, comes every other day which is a great touch and she is so lovely! An excellent base with all you need.
