The Lucerne Region

Situated one hour south of Basel and Zurich, twenty minutes from Engelberg, with invigorating mountain views, lake cruises and a picturesque old quarter. LUZERN has long been one of Europe’s most heavily touristed towns which still retains all of its old world charm and embraces five million admirers passing through each year.

The River Reuss splits the town, banked on both sides, clustered with medieval squares, frescoed houses, ancient guildhalls, churches and chapels, galleries and museums, the area is filled with a liveliness that belies the city’s age. Cafe culture is treasured by the city’s large population of young people, around midnight during a weekend , the main Pilatusstrasse boulevard has the feel of any European capital. Pick your way through the picturesque cobbled streets lined with shopping areas known for famous designer labels. Take a cruise on the lake or idle away the time on the river side watching the world go by. Authenticity is the key word for Lucerne ‘the bridal capital’ if you are very lucky you may spot a wedding at the foot of the famous wooden bridge where Audrey Hepburn married.

Engelberg

Nothing beats height for reliably good snow, Mount Titlis, the highest peak in central Switzerland at 3238 metres, provides Engelberg with a year-round snow covered glacier and one of the longest winter seasons in the Alps, from mid-November until mid-May.

Steeped in history and character the town owes its origins to the Bendictine Monastery established in 1120 a d. Engelberg offers all the comfort ,entertainment, diverse sporting activities and skiing challenge modern skiers expect and demand from a first class resort. 25 various cable transportation systems , 82 kilometres of downhill ski and and snow board facilities and free ride heaven. The most memorable and famous, 'Kings run' from Mt. Titlis (10,000 feet) to Engelberg (3,000 feet) known as one of the most beautiful runs of the Alps! For non skiers tabogganing and winter walking
