Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Brae Cottage has a very special place in my heart- it is where, as a child, I was brought for family holidays. Although it retains its traditional looks it has now been completely renovated, enlarged and brought up to date to provide all the benefits of modern living.
Snuggle up by the cosy open fire on a wintry day,
enjoy the evening sun and views of the Ythan Valley on a warm summer's evening and
use the cottage as a great base to explore the best that Aberdeenshire and the Aberdeen area have to offer.
Situated close to several popular wedding venues (e.g.Meldrum House, Thainstone House, Pittodrie House, Haddo House) the cottage is an ideal base either for bridal parties or their guests as accommodation at the venues can be limited. We can offer 3 or 4 day wedding packages with some extra touches and are very happy to discuss your own requirements.

Aberdeenshire and nearby Aberdeen provide a huge range of activities from ski-ing & surfing to shopping, and sightseeing opportunities that take in hills, beaches, woodlands and a host of stately homes with wonderful parks attached which are open to the public all year round.
Castles and distilleries abound.
golfers, walkers, fishers, drinkers, shoppers, will all find a wide variety of venues in which to pursue their favourite pastimes.
In September each year we have an Open Studio event when artists of all disciplines open their studios and welcome visitors to see them at work and purchase their works.
If you are interested in the Highland games there are several which make a great day out in Aberdeenshire including the famous Braemar Gathering attended each year by members of the Royal Family.
Methlick is a pretty village with some great amenities. The local hotel and pub has a great menu and is open for lunches and evening meals 7 days a week. They offer a cosy lounge bar & restaurant with open coal fires and welcome families with well behaved children. They always have a selection of real ales on offer.
The village has its own dedicated cricket ground "Lairds", home of the MCC (Methlick Cricket Club) and matches are played at weekends throughout the season.
We also have an exciting new kids adventure playground whcih every young visitor should pay a visit to. Hoodles playbarn only 20 minutes drive away provides indoor and outdoor play areas for children and gym and cafe facilities for the grownups.
There is an old road, suitable only for walking, which will take you into the village in 20 minutes, ideal if you want to leave the car for a while.
The river Ythan, famed for its salmon and trout fishing, runs through the village of Methlick and day tickets can be purchased.
Within a 30 minute drive from Brae Cottage we have several golf courses including the renowned Trump International Aberdeen and Meldrum House. Ellon, Cruden Bay, Turriff, Banff, Royal Aberdeen to mention only a few of the surrounding towns also have courses open to visitors.
Methlick is in the heart of Castle Country with a large number of National Trust properties to visit.
Oldmeldrum, only 7 miles away, has our nearest whisky distillery and in an hour you can be in Speyside with a host of distilleries just waiting to welcome you to their visitor centres for some tasting of the amber nectar.
Lochter activity centre, also in Oldmeldrum, offers clay pigeon shooting (with tuition), pond fishing, segway riding, climbing wall and 4X4 quad biking.
