Thank you so much for taking the time to review Clavie Cottage. My husband and I work very hard to make sure that our guests enjoy their stay.

Unfortunately everybody has different preferences when it comes to mattresses and we have tried to suit most people by providing a Silentnight miracoil mattress rated as medium by the manufacturer. The bed is also made up with a quilted mattress topper and quilted mattress protector. Please accept my apologies if this did not suit you as we really do want our guests to be comfortable during their stay. We do have an additional thick down topper which we could have provided if you had let us know during your stay.

"Mixed feelings about this cottage"

When we arrived at this cottage, on the surface it appeared very nice indeed. It was spotlessly clean; the accommodation was more than adequate for our purposes with special mention going to the very … More

We are very sorry that you felt disappointed with some aspects of your stay at Clavie Cottage. Colin and I work very hard to make sure that our guests stay at the cottage is everything they expected and our many previous positive reviews reflect this.

Had you brought to our attention any of the things mentioned during your stay then we would have remedied them immediately but you made no mention of anything when we attended the property as a result of the extensive flood damage caused by you to the bathroom and downstairs bedroom. We dealt with this emergency which damaged the property to the extent that we had to bring in dehumidifying equipment, strip walls and ceiling of wallpaper, replace the carpet, underlay, mattress, bathroom lino and redecorate as you said at the time "in a very understanding" manner. We were upset that you left without leaving the requested contribution to the damage costs, although this was later paid when we returned the belongings you had left.

We have spent hours repairing the damage left following your stay so that our future guests holidays are not affected.

We do supply a welcome pack for arriving guests which consists of a selection of breakfast cereals, orange juice, milk, shortbread biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and the cottage also has a supply of condiments, sauces etc. If the tea bags were ommited this was an oversight on our part and we apologise.

The towels supplied during your stay were as advertised 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel per person. I am sorry that the quality of our dish cloth didn't meet your expectations.

We will of course address the points mentioned regarding the mattress (which is a Silentnight Miracoil and only 12 months old) and curtains linings.

Our many satisfied and returning guests say that Clavie Cottage offers excellent value for money and consider the location and chance to see the Moray Firth dolphins from the picture window as a good reason to book with us.

"An ideal cottage in a peaceful location but close enough to all the amenities."

We booked Clavie cottage to provide accomodation while visiting relatives in Morayshire. The cottage is very easy to find and the arrivals/departure process is the best that I've experienced. The cottage is very typical of the type of property in the locality and has been professionally modernised and equipped to provide all and more of the comforts you would require. A good sized kitchen with all mod cons made for easy meal preparation. The master bedroom is fantastic with its huge windows letting in tons of natural light. A small sofa has been thoughtfully positioned so yhat you can relax in the morning with your coffee while looking out to sea. Two further bedrooms provide ample sleeping space.
The cottage was extremely clean when we arrived and all of the fixtures and fittings gave the impression that it was a brand new property. The high standards of cleanliness and presentation is a credit to the owners. We would not hesitate in renting Clavie cottage again.

"Clean, comfy & cosy!"

Spotlessly clean, really attractively presented property, modernised to a high standard yet still full of original period character. We loved staying here, our young children were thrilled with exploring the house and the beach, it was lovely coming in from being outside- instant warmth, hot water constantly, little thoughtful touches like books and dvd's for the children, to very easy instructions provided by the owners before our arrival, made this a very easy and enjoyable break over Hogmanay.

A big well done to the owners- we will recommend to friends and family and will be back again to enjoy the delights of Clavie cottage and Burghead!
