A homely and relaxed atmosphere is what you will find at the Casa Motxo. The Casa is available for exclusive use for groups of 14 - 20 people making it your home for the week. Built in traditional wood and stone, the Casa is a lovely cosy location for any ski holiday for larger groups and families. Our expert hospitality team are on hand to care and cater for your throughout your stay.
A delicious three course set evening meal is served on six evenings of the week, our menu has been developed and tailored to suit hungry skiers and boarders back from a hard day on the slopes. A continental breakfast is served each morning and cooked breakfast once per week.

The Canillo region
Soldeu was the second resort in the Principality of Andorra was also born of an initiative by skiing enthusiasts. Miquel Baró, Josep Torrallardona i Martí Salvans opened the first chairlift at the foot of the village of Soldeu in the area called Espiolets. It was February 1964 and the ski euphoria was spreading fast in all sectors. And so in the winter of 1981 the resort was extended to include the area called El Tarter and took the name Soldeu-El Tarter. Artificial snow cannons reach the resort in the winter of 1987 this was just shortly behind Pas de La Casa who introduced the 1st snow cannons to the country in 1986.
Soldeu El Tarter did lead Andorra and the entire Pyrenees in lift technology. In 2000 the regions first 8 seater high speed gondola lift was opened to transport skiers to the top of the mountain in greater comfort and speed. Soldeu comes alive in the winter months as a skiing town. The skiing is part of the 193km GRANDVALIRA ski area, the largest area in the Pyrenees.
The village is at 1650 metres and the top of the ski area is at 2580 metres. The Soldeu El Tarter Ski/Board School is one of the largest English speaking schools in Europe. Over 450 instructors, many of which are native English speakers offer the highest and most proficient level of teaching from absolute beginner to advanced and freestyle. They are the winners of several top European awards for their high standards and excellent reputation. Whatever your level of skiing or boarding, their will be a course or class to suit you.
In the nearby village of Soldeu there is something to suit all types and tastes. The Sport Complex at the top end of Soldeu now offers you 4 Star quality in the Port and Sport Village and the new addition of the 5* Hermitage Hotel which really is a touch of class. The Wellness Centre (open 2006/07) is a real must for any visitor to the village to soak away the aches and pains of their week.
El Tarter / El Tarter Village area
El Tarter is a quiet and peaceful ski village just down the road from Soldeu. The Lodge Casal is located in the centre of the residential area of the village just 10/15 minutes walk across to the slope access, ski hire and ski lockers.
These are located next to the well known Nordic Hotel and Aparthotel Del Clos. The village of El Tarter has just a handful of restaurants and small bars all within easy reach of the Lodge Casal. The comfort and atmosphere of the Lodge Casal and the lounge bar along with the home cooked excellent food usually means that our guests have no need or desire to move far from the lodge.
A shuttle service will take you to the slopes in the morning and back from the slopes in the afternoon. This will operate at 08.45 & 09.15 & 15.45 & 16.45 (Times may change)

Andorra is accessible from a wide range of airports:

Airport transfers using scheduled services are available from Barcelona, Tolouse and Gerona from 30euro each way.

A bottle of wine between two people is served with dinner along with water and squash. Other drinks are available from the staff run bar.
We serve afternoon tea and cakes on three afternoons of your choice at your request.
On one evening per week, there is no dinner service. On this evening you are free to sample the local restaurants in the area. Our staff can recommend several to you.
Further details outdoors: The Casa Motxo is in a quiet a peaceful location in the residential area of El Tarter. A 10 minute (Max) walk across the village to the ski lifts A shuttle bus service will operate twice from the Casa to the slopes each morning and two services in the afternoon back to the Motxo. Additional services can be booked for a supplement locally. Ski communal lockers are offered free at the base of the slopes at the Nordic Sports shop
