About the home
Are you weary of the rat race and longing for peace and a chance to refresh yourself? Then why not spend a week or two at our lovely environmentally-friendly cottage? Newly renovated remote mountain retreat in ten acres of olive terraces and herb-covered hillside, ideal for honeymoons and getting away from it all, with stunning 360 degree views and complete seclusion, yet under an hour's drive from beaches, historic towns, wineries, and Reus airport. And on a clear, sunny morning, as you do the washing-up, you can see the sun glinting off the Mediterranean in the far distance.
This is a small two-storey retreat with french doors opening onto 2 terraces with gorgeous vistas and an exterior yoga deck for those sunrise salutations and meditation. Hiking and birdwatching are on your doorstep, and fishing in the River Ebro is a short drive away. Private yoga and massage therapy are available at the cottage, where the only sounds you will hear are the gentle ringing of distant goat bells from the herb-covered hillsides. There are no neighbours - complete seclusion is yours. On the days when you want to venture further, there are water sports, horse riding, and golf near El Perello, and a wide range of coastal resorts from L'Ampolla through La Platja de Miami to Cambrils, all within easy driving distance.

Further details indoors:
This is a small, two-storey cottage with a light and airy bedroom (1 queen bed/1 double sofabed) and views across the natural park to the distant Mediterranean. Downstairs there is a cosy lounge with wood burning stove, comfortable seating (including another double sofa bed) and small dining and kitchen area.
The kitchen area has a cooker, tiled worktops and more stunning views - you'll be competing to do the washing up just so you can stand there and drink in the vistas ! Fridge/freezer in barbecue area. The bathroom has a tiled walk-in shower, washbasin and WC. From all of the rooms there are gorgeous views in every direction.
The cottage is built into the hillside, amongst the olive terraces, so there are steps everywhere - from the parking area to the cottage and from the living room to the bedroom.
The bathroom is on the ground floor, which makes it more accessible, but if you have mobility problems this may not be the place for you - unless you like to sleep downstairs, in which case the bathroom is just a few steps away.
Further details outdoors:
Two sets of French doors open from the lounge onto terraces front and rear, and a walled herb garden with an outdoor dining area and seating for six. During your stay, please feel free to help yourselves to any herbs in season.
The large semi-circular terrace at the front of the cottage doubles as a meditation and yoga deck - there are exercise mats in the cottage - and is also the ideal place for sunbathing and a glass of the local wine at sunset.
The property has around ten acres of olive terraces - almonds, olives, figs, carobs - surrounded by natural park wilderness, where rosemary and many other herbs grow wild and in profusion. There are no neighbours - complete seclusion is yours. The only person you are likely to see - in the distance - is Modesto the shepherd as he leads his flock of goats over the mountains. If you call out 'hola' to him, he will wave back to you above the gentle ringing of the goatbells.
Further details
This is a get-away-from-it-all retreat, environmentally friendly, with water from our rainwater storage and power from our solar system. So ... there is no TV (but there is very clear cellphone reception, and internet via WIFI), and there are no electrical appliances, no washing machine, etc.
Instead, there is the opportunity to experience how a remote cottage can operate on solar power and keep you warm, cosy and content by natural, sustainable methods. We provide private yoga and massage therapy sessions upon request, and in the valley below we offer yoga camping holidays at our organic olive farm, Casa de Carrasco, where you can choose your own camp spot among the olive groves and enjoy the swimming pool and a daily yoga session tailored to your needs. Just ask us for details.
We also offer fishing on the River Ebro with an expert guide, and birdwatchers will be thrilled by the eagles which soar above the cottage and by sightings of the distinctive hoopoe.
There are steep stairs to the bedroom, with gates at the top and bottom for child safety, and you will be surrounded by the aromas of herbs, both wild and cultivated.
All linen and towels provided.
Sorry, NO SMOKING.

The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region

The closest beaches are under an hour's drive from the cottage - this is a stretch of coast which has happily been missed by mass tourism, with many small coves and quiet beaches. We would particularly recommend the coves near El Perello or the picturesque village of L'Ametlla de Mar, with its wide range of bars and restaurants.
If you prefer something livelier, there is a wide choice of coastal resorts from L'Ampolla through La Platja de Miami to Cambrils, all within easy driving distance. The area played an important part in the Civil War, and there are numerous castles, villages and museums to visit. It is also a short and very scenic drive to the famous wine-growing regions of Penedes and Priorat, where you can sample and buy the delicious wines of the region.
The El Perello / Rasquera area
The nearest village, Rasquera, is a picturesque village where the old men still gather in the shade of the village square, and which also provides basic daily shopping - and excellent bakeries! It's about 20 minutes drive away. El Perello, in the opposite direction, is larger and has more amenities, a range of shops including an internet cafe, and a good local Saturday market - the drive takes around 30 minutes. It also has an excellent bodega, where you can taste the local wines before buying. And in the village of Rasquera there is a public swimming pool with gorgeous views, open during the summer months.
There are numerous local fiestas throughout the year, and in the cottage you will find full details of when and where these take place. Catalunya is famous for its festivals and fiestas, so make sure you enjoy some of these! And perhaps you can find time to visit some of the local castles, such as the impressive one at nearby Miravet, or the fairytale ruins of the monks' hermitage at the Cardo monastery, just over the mountain from the cottage.

| Nearest Travel Links | |
| Airport: | Reus |
| Railway: | L'Amtlla de Mar or Mora la Nova |
| Ferry: | Tarragona |
The nearest airport is Reus (around an hours drive), with flights via Ryanair and Easyjet. Other budget airlines include Flybe, BMIbaby. Major airlines such as BA and Iberia fly into Barcelona (around two and a half hours drive to the finca).
There are car hire companies at both airports - we suggest Avis, who offer a number of high clearance vehicles, such as the Fiat Dobla. We are happy to advise on suitable rental vehicles if you wish. Nearest rail stations are L'Ametlla de Mar on the Barcelona/Valencia line, or Mora la Nova on the Madrid line.
YOU WILL NEED A HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLE FOR DRIVING TO THE FINCA, which is on a rough unsurfaced scenic mountain road. Remember, this is a remote, away-from-it-all retreat, with complete seclusion and no public transport nearby. The road to the cottage is single track and takes around fifteen minutes to drive - you won't be bothered by any casual unwanted visitors ! if your car is low-slung, we're also happy to lend you our four-wheel-drive car, at a nominal rate of 12 Euros per day inclusive of fuel (much cheaper than the car hire companies !) for driving on the rough mountain road.
When you book your holiday with us, we will be happy to provide you with maps and detailed directions to the finca - and a local to accompany you to the cottage when you arrive - this service is free of charge. If required, we can arrange to collect you from the airport or the train station, for an additional cost, but bear in mind that you will need a car if you want to drive around the villages and visit the many historic local sites.

Guestbook for Finca Coboreas
Your views are fantastic over the mountains and valleys, and the changing colour of the light during day and night charmed me. Your bed is wonderful and I slept deeply.
What a lovely place it is ! Nicely restored finca with beautiful views and no-one around. Indeed a wonderful away-from-it-all cottage.
Little Finca Coboreas, we were pleased to meet you and were surprised when we arrived - we didn't think to find so beautiful a place. We fell in love with you. See you soon !
