EL GOUNA: This is a man made resort which has blossomed from the desert into a holiday paradise which can satisfy the needs of holidaymakers looking for activities or a relaxing time in the sun.
With all year round sunshine it is ideal for water sports of which there are many to choose from. With the coral reefs of the Red Sea being the finest around. Scuba Diving rates very highlyt. The PGA Golf course is also a popular reason for visiting El Gouna but the weather, people and atmosphere are top of the list.
The cost of living makes it cheaper to eat out than to cook, so for the wives this is a welcome break from the kitchen,

"A fantastic villa holiday, it exceeded our expectations by miles."
The villa was outstanding, and Melanie was there to greet us when we arrived - even though we had been delayed. She had even stocked up the fridge with some essentials so we didn't have to worry about shopping until the next day. A few days into our holiday we had a problem with a leaking air-conditioning unit, but we emailed Melanie and she dealt with it straight away. An electrician arrived the following morning, with Melanie, and the problem was soon sorted out. She even apologized that it had taken that long.
El Gouna is a great resort and we loved the restaurants in particular around the Marina; all were excellent value for money and of a very high standard. There is so much choice and a wide variety of cuisines to chose from. We had fun travelling by Tok-tok (even though we discovered that the taxis are cheaper). The supermarkets (think local Spa) were well-stocked with all essentials and very reasonably priced - also open late so we could pop in after we had eaten out.
Most of our days were spent lazing by the pool and relaxing at the villa, as we really didn't want to leave; however we did a few trips that were well worth it - a boat trip to Mahmaya beach for snorkelling and sunbathing, and quad-biking into the Sahara to watch the sunset.
I was a bit concerned before we left about how we would cope with the heat (I and my daughters are very fair-skinned), but although it was 39 degrees on most days, the lovely fresh breeze made it very pleasant. There is plenty of shade if you need it at the villa, or you can sit out on the jetty in a lovely breeze.
The wireless network was a big hit with everyone, as was the satellite tv with my teenage daughters.
If you are looking to really pamper yourself, try visiting the Spa at the Movenpick hotel - also worth visiting for its restaurants.
We will definitely be booking a return trip as soon as possible as this was one of our most relaxing holidays ever.

"ABSOLUTELY FIRST CLASS RESORT, ACCOMODATION & SERVICE"
My wife, two young daughters (3 & 18 months) and I visited El Gouna staying in Villa Yolanda for 3 weeks between 25 Feb and 18 Mar 2013. Booking was easy and Melanie answered all of our questions prior to departure, also sorting out our transfers from the airport to the villa and vice versa on departure.
We arrived at the villa around 1830 and as we pulled onto the drive, though it was dark, with subtle lighting, the villa's grandness made an immediate impression on us. The people Melanie uses to do the transfers are extremely friendly and very helpful. Melanie met us at the villa upon arrival and gave us a tour of the villa, she also provided a welcome pack which included more than enough basic produce to see our family through an evening meal and breakfast. We ate and had a drink and retired around 2200 pretty tired. Both our girls settled immediately and exceptionally easy.
We awoke the following morning to see an amazing sunrise and view the villa in all its glory - talk about 'WOW FACTOR'! The place is stunning and by far surpassed the impression given by the images on trip adviser. One of our concerns was the depth and style of the swimming pool, as with any pool and young children, parents must always be vigilant and it was just perfect for our needs. The villa has everything you need and more and is exceptionally well provisioned.
Melanie was a great host, the couple of issues we had; a loss of Internet, and failure of one of the many air conditioning units were both resolved with haste, the latter saw an engineer tapping on the door within 20 mins of calling Melanie.
The villa is located in a quiet area of El Gouna and a tok-tok can take you anywhere throughout the resort for 50p per adult, kids travel free. The resort is gated, and has a zero crime rate. There are currently two yacht marinas with a third being built. El Gouna has so much to do and everything is reasonably priced. The shop owners down town do not hassle you like they do in other middle eastern resorts and it is absolutely pleasurable. The resort boasts a state of the art, European style hospital which is particularly good for those wishing to scuba in the area.
When using the tok-toks, which both of our kids absolutely loved, we always phoned and asked for a specific person; his name is Adel and he was driving tok-tok number 15. He is an amazing guy, really friendly, great with the kids and speaks very good English. It is possible to get around by taxi or even using the local bus service which is cheap too.
Most restaurants in El Gouna will deliver food to your door, eating out or in is very good and great value for money. Highly recommended are Garo's (Lebanese), and Surf and Turf. Beer and wine can be ordered and is delivered. 500ml of beer costs 80p, a bottle of wine £4.50.
Everything about the 21 night holiday was great, it goes without saying that El Gouna and Villa Yolanda has become, and I am certain will remain one of our destinations of choice. We will certainly be back within 12 months.

"A great villa in a lovely town, we will return!"
We had a really enjoyable stay at Villa Yolanda and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We visited in August and were a little concerned about the heat, but the wind kept the temperature bearable. The pool and free wifi, especially for our teenagers wewe particularly appreciated. The kitchen was extremely well equipped.
Eating out is good and relatively well priced, and the shopping was fun, better than we expected. Tuk tuks made getting around really easy and cheap, so we didn't need to hire a car.
Trips we enjoyed were snorkelling boat trips with Easydivers where we got to swim with a pod of wild dolphins, the highlight of the trip, and also a private hire boat organised through the diving shop in the main square downtown, when we got to swim with a turtle - wow. The snorkelling off the pier at Zeytona beach was also really enjoyable.
We had a great holiday and we hope to return to El Gouna in the future, it's a great place to relax and unwind. Melanie was very helpful and efficient, and easily contacted when we needed advice. I would highly recommend this villa and El Gouna, it's a great place to visit.
