The Red Sea Riviera/Sinai region

El Gouna may not be known to all, but it's an exclusive private resort by the Red Sea, in Egypt. It is a sun lovers paradise and rests between 10 kms of scenic beachfront and the eastern desert mountains.

Although only about five hours flight time from the UK, the weather couldn’t be more different, with timeless blue skies and virtually all year round constant sunny, warm temperatures. This, mixed with cooling sea breezes, makes El Gouna an excellent year round destination.

You can book a myriad of excursions and activities in El Gouna, from excursions to Cairo (430km) or Luxor (300km), by air (El Gouna has it's own local airport), bus or taxi, to desert safaris, boat trips, snorkelling and diving excursions, star watching, beach trips and quad bike expeditions.

El Gouna

El Gouna offers one of the widest ranges of leisure possibilities in the entire Red Sea area, including an 18 hole USPGA championship golf course, eight diving centres, kitesurfing, windsurfing, tennis, snorkelling, go-karting, horseriding, sailing, parasailing, deep sea fishing, beach volleyball, aerobics, pilates, yoga on the beach and weight training.

El Gouna is a fantastic divers’ destination and is ideally positioned for some of the finest diving in the Red Sea. For new divers, heated pools and calm local reefs provide an excellent start to your diving experience. For the more experienced diver, the range of walls, reefs and wrecks are amongst the best in the Red Sea.

The fact that El Gouna is a protected area is a real advantage; sites are much quieter than those of neighbouring Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, and as such, interaction with marine life is more common, especially wild dolphins. El Gouna's diving centres offer a complete range of PADI courses; a commitment to quality, safety and the environment is shared by all eight centres, which regularly meet to ensure the highest standards.

There are many beautiful beaches, one of which is Zeytuna Beach, located on its own island surrounded by the Red Sea and equipped with hammocks, volley ball court, snorkelling equipment, sun beds and a bar.

There are two stunning marinas which attract yachts and sailboats from around the world. They impress visitors with their beauty and offer El Gouna's finest restaurants, bars and boutiques.

There is an eclectic array of inviting cuisines and atmospheres. Choose from sophisticated five star dining to marina side bistros. Dine overlooking the vast blue-green horizon of the Red Sea, the golf course greens or the bustling Abu Tig Marina. With over 60 restaurants, there is something to please every age, distinction and palette.

El Gouna is a growing resort and and until final completion there are various building projects going on.

"complete relaxation"

stayed at villa with hubby and friends, the villa is fine all you need for great relaxing holiday, it is a little tired but nothing to hamper holiday, the pool is fantastic and pool man a star, we had a sand storm whilst there and he worked so hard to clear pool, the pool pump was changed and we had no idea there was a problem always clean. The furniture on the balconies is a little weathered not that we used any, the out door area is great The location is fine with free telephone calls from villa for tuk tuk.We felt maybe sunshades would have been nice as the sun is so hot and we kept having to move beds around pool, Over all a great holiday and all agreed we would go back. great value for money.
Would recommend the Lebanese just as you go into Down Town the food is great and so cheap and the manager and staff are so friendly.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday and our villa. Many thanks for your positive feedback and constructive comments. We will be looking at what needs updating and replacing when we go the the villa at Christmas. I do hope that you will come back again sometime. Caroline and Steve

Thank you for your lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed our villa and hope you will come back again sometime.
For those of you reading this, who do not speak German, the rough translation of the review is: "We enjoyed the holiday in the Red Sea villa very much. The villa is spacious, quiet, all rooms were left clean and tidy .. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for a pleasant holiday. The pool was cleaned every day, the trees were blooming - fantastic. The Tok-Tok could be called from the villa and arrived within a very short time so we were always mobile. Thanks to Caroline and Steve."

"Life as it should be..."

"Life as it should be" is the slogan of the city of El Gouna. And it totally true. In this period of the year El Gouna is quite quiet, but that is not a disadvantage. It is just not too crowdy and touristic. It is so different in comparison with Hurghada or Sharm el Sjeik. You cannot compare. It much more relaxed staying in El Gouna. It started with the pick up at the airport. No waiting, there was someone there to bring you in a comfortable taxi to the villa.
Enough things to do and to see in and around El Gouna. With young children (ours are 2 and 4) and older children. The weather was good, 25 - 32 degrees Celsius, sometimes windy. In the evening the temperature was during our stay rising. No signs of political unrest or what so ever. The Egyptian people are very friendly and helpful. If you do not want to one of the many restaurants, you can buy good food in one of the supermarkets.
The villa is very nice. Enough space, nice rooms. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking yourself. Only a microwave is missing, but alternative ways to prepare food / milk possible. The garden of the villa and the pool are great! Lovely! It was a very pleasant stay, we consider to rent again. We left El Gouna with a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and arrived at Amsterdam Airport with light snow and 0 degrees Celsius... :-( This villa in El Gouna... life as it should be...!!

So glad you enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of El Gouna, the Egyptian sunshine and our villa. A bit of a shock going back to light snow in Amsterdam! Thanks for being such great guests and we look forward to welcoming you back to the villa anytime. Caroline and Steve

"What a lovely chilled out place to go"

The taxi that we booked was waiting to take us to the villa at the the airport for a stress free transfer. The villa was lovely and clean when we arrived and well appointed. The weather was fantastic for the whole week. The town and the marina were a fantastic place to eat and hang out at. Love the tuc tuc's, the toc toc's and the resort bus.
I would reccomend the Quad biking. Great fun. Tennis was really good at the Movenpick.
Looking forward to going back

We're really pleased you enjoyed our villa and El Gouna. We too love the quad bike experience in the mountains! Caroline and Steve

"Excellent value for money"

We have just returned from a week at Red Sea Villa and we had an amazing holiday. We have come home feeling refreshed, but already missing the relaxed atmosphere and lovely sunshine of El Gouna! The villa is clean, comfortable and very homely with everything you need for a great holiday. It is excellent value-for-money and we can't wait to go back!

So pleased to hear you had a lovely time and the villa had everything you needed for a great holiday. Hopefully hear from you again soon! Caroline and Steve

"Lovely relaxing holiday - superb accommodation!"

The Villa was located on a lovely palm tree lined street and backs onto a lagoon which is very peaceful it has its own pool with an amazing large outside space which even in October was a real bonus as the weather was beautiful. the villa has large bright living spaces and bedrooms and the kitchen is a good size with all you could need for cooking - should you want to! We were really impressed with everything the villa had to offer and it was definately the best villa i have ever stayed in fantastic value for money - cant wait to go back!!

Delighted you had a great time and we look forward to welcoming you back to our villa. Caroline and Steve

"Red Sea Villa"

El Gouna is a great place, safe and friendly. Good restaurants both Downtown and at the Marina. Well worth finding the wonderful outdoor cinema, the projectionist insisted on driving us home! The people were charming, funny and warm.

We had a good time at Red Sea Villa but felt it could be a really lovely property if it were better looked after. It feels rather tired. The kitchen lacked enough glasses, cutlery and utensils. After the beds were changed [halfway through our stay], we ended up with two sheets for a duvet cover until the cover could be laundered as there was only one, and that had a tear and holes in it!

It's location is great. The views are delightful and the overall feel is one of tranquility and calm. I would definitely recommend heating the pool in the winter as it's much too cold to swim in. The lagoon was warmer. The internal phone system is brilliant. Deliveries and Tuc Tuc's were instant and reliable. The dvd selection is great, but the t.v. is about to die. Vital buttons are missing on the remote controls.

Worth asking the owners if it's on the market. On two occasions we went out in order for prospective buyers to be shown round. To be fair we were told about this beforehand. It wasn't a big problem, but it felt a bit of an imposition.

The owners are very efficient and their 'pack' is informative. We enjoyed our stay and would consider it again but a bit of t.l.c. and investment is needed to make it really special.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for your constructive feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed many aspects of the villa, including the location, views and value-for-money, although we're sorry to hear that you felt some things were lacking, as all the essentials required for a holiday should be in the villa. There should be three sets of bedding for each bed and plenty of kitchen equipment, so we will contact our management agent and rectify these issues as soon as possible. Caroline and Steve

"Clean, spacious and well equipped - lovely quiet location"

This villa is in a quiet location but it is very easy to just call a taxi or tuk tuk to get to other parts of El Gouna, and it is possible to walk downtown in about 15 to 20 minutes.
The villa is clean and basically equipped, with everything you need for a holiday stay. There are plenty of books, DVDs and games available to use.
The pool is lovely but is quite deep once you come off the steps, so children should always be supervised.
There are daily visits from the pool boy, the gardener and the anti-bug man, who we called Mr Smoky. But these are not intrusive, you soon get used to seeing the familiar friendly faces each day.
There is plenty of storage space, but no hanging space for long dresses - probably the only thing I could find fault with.
The managing agents are very helpful and will do whatever they can to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.
We had always stayed at the Movenpick Hotel in prior numerous visits to El Gouna, but decided to give a villa a try for a change - we have most definitely been converted!
We shopped for breakfast and lunch items, but ate out in the evenings at the many beautiful restaurants there are to try in El Gouna. But if budget is an issue, it would be easy to have a fully self catering holiday at this villa.....

Thank you for your great review. We're so pleased you enjoyed our villa and that it was clean, well tended and equipped with everything you needed for your holiday. Delighted to hear you have been converted from the 5 star Movenpick hotel to our villa! Caroline
