In one of the most beautiful places in the Canary Islands, in a unique location next to the famous beaches of Fuerteventura in the north of the island, you find El Cotillo. The house is located first line 100 meters to the beach and 5 minutes walk to the center of town. El Cotillo is a small village at the Northern end of Fuerteventura, on the west coast. The village is centred around the small harbour that is mostly used by local fishermen. The old harbour is only a short walk over a headland that separates it from the new one. There are several bars and restaurants close to the harbours and the views from El Toston garrison are particularly pleasing. This modern house can comfortably accommodate up to 6 adults. Beautiful views of the beach with 1 living room, 2 bathrooms of which one has a jacuzzi bath and 2 bedrooms it is perfect for large groups or big families. The area is quiet and safe. Sun and excellent temperatures of around 28º C are guaranteed most of the time.
The south beach is at the bottom of low cliffs that are easily accessible. Here you can see the wild Atlantic rollers crashing onto the fine sandy beach with surfers, windsurfers and the new craze kite-surfing taking place. Tuition is available for all three disciplines for anyone wanting a challenge.
El Cotillo has a surf shop for the latest surf fashion or surf boards to rent. There is also a kite-surfing shop and a little out of the village a board and sail repair business, very useful after the many wipe outs encountered in the powerful surf. Corky Kirkham and many other top windsurfers practise here in the Hawaiian size surf.
Fuerteventura is known world wide for its relaxed attitude to nude and semi nude sunbathers. About the only place off limits are the beaches in towns, elsewhere it's acceptable on beaches everywhere. You see the little rock built castles that face the prevailing wind that are home for the day for many sunbathers.
El Cotillo is a small rustic fishing village and is dedicated to the virgin of good travel (Virgin de Buen Viaje) these words can be seen painted on the cliffs in the old harbour.
Situated on the northwest corner of Fuerteventura, El Cotillo is a peaceful place but it offers some good restaurants. If you turn left as you head into Cotillo you head towards the cliffs. From here there are several footpaths that lead down to the Playa del Castillo, one of the nicest beaches in this region

The Fuerteventura region
Fuerteventura Island Guide
The semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura lies just under 100km off the coast of Africa (near the border of Morocco and Western Sahara). It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August.
Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife. The unforgiving barren and arid interior of the island shares much with it's African neighbours of Morroco and the Western Sahara including sparse rainfall, rocky-desert landscapes (the temperature of these rocks can reach 67°C on a hot day!) and simple flat-roofed white-washed villages.
Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand. Despite Tourism being a relatively recent phenomenon on the island, there is a well developed infrastructure with Golf Courses, a Zoo, a Water Park and numerous Marine Excursions. If you fancy something a bit more active, the Island offers great Surfing, Windsurfing and Kite Surfing as well as Big Game Fishing and Diving.
If you just want to take it easy, then those miles of white sandy beaches make the perfect getaway, even in peak season you should be able to find a relatively secluded spot for yourself.
In short, there is plenty for Families, Twenty-somethings and Sports enthusiastes alike.

n this Guide Fuerteventura beaches can not forget the small resort town of El Cotillo, located in the north of the island, on the west coast. Geared primarily to tourism, this picturesque place has an extensive range of apartments of different categories located on the beach, and outstanding gastronomy especially freshly caught fish for the many fishermen in the area.
The beaches of El Cotillo are the best in the world, with fine sand like flour, white and turquoise waters teeming with marine life.
In the village of El Cotillo find Los Lagos, frequented by the villagers, and a little further north we visit Playa de La Concha with Blue Flag 2010-2011, which has white sand, clear water and are very well protected by the natural reef, which virtually eliminates the waves. These two beaches, being family, not frequent nudity.
And south of town, past the Castle of El Toston, we can visit a wild beach more than 1,300 meters of golden sand and spectacular scenery, which is frequented by Kiteboard practitioners.
In all this beaches easily found parking a few meters from the sea, and some of them have rental sunbeds, showers, snack bar and other services.
