About the home

This spacious two bedroom apartment offers an excellent get away. Situated on the edge of the village, near to the surfers beach and the sandy lagoons.

El Cotillo is a quiet picturesque fishing village with a good selection of restaurants and bars.

Ideal for those wanting a truly relaxing break in a stunning location. El Cotillo is a perfect base for lazy days on the stunning lagoon beaches, or for taking advantage of the many other activities the area has to offer.

The apartment has its own individual large sun terrace which is perfect for dining alfresco and sunbathing with a glass of sangria and a good book.

Furnished to a high standard and is fully equipped for 4 people .

20 minutes drive from Corralejo or catch a bus minutes from the apartment and 40 minutes drive from the Capital Puerto Del Rosario which offers fantacstic shopping.

Have a game of Golf at the championship golf course in Catea De fuste or cool down in the waterpark in Corralejo

The apartment is so near to the beaches you will not miss a pool expecially as the beaches are so picturesque.

The patio area very large and is secured by a locking gate so very safe for children to play.

surfboards are not permitted inside the apartment but there is plenty of room to leave them on the terrace and we provide a padlock and chain for added secutiy.

The Fuerteventura region

The semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura lies just under 100km off the coast of Africa (near the border of Morocco and Western Sahara). It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 35°C in August.

Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife. The unforgiving barren and arid interior of the island shares much with it's African neighbours of Morroco and the Western Sahara including sparse rainfall, rocky-desert landscapes (the temperature of these rocks can reach 67°C on a hot day!) and simple flat-roofed white-washed villages.

Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand. Despite Tourism being a relatively recent phenomenon on the island, there is a well developed infrastructure with Golf Courses, a Zoo, a Water Park and numerous Marine Excursions. If you fancy something a bit more active, the Island offers great Surfing, Windsurfing and Kite Surfing as well as Big Game Fishing and Diving.

If you just want to take it easy, then those miles of white sandy beaches make the perfect getaway, even in peak season you should be able to find a relatively secluded spot for yourself.

In short, there is plenty for Families, Twenty-somethings and Sports enthusiastes alike.

The El Cotillo / La Oliva area

Often described as “Picturesque and Unspoilt”.

Besides being a fishing village, El Cotillo also developed as a Surf town with the Beaches and Reefs to the north and south of the town attracting Windsurfers/Kite-boarders and Surfers from all over the world. The reefs shelter the small lagoons at the northern end of the town making them safe places to bathe. Surfers are very much part of the laid-back character of the town, with several hippy-style or hippy-renovated houses in evidence.

El Cotillo was the capital of the original Maxorata Kings (natives of this part of the island) before the conquest, however with the exception of the Fortaleza del Tostón, there is not much in the way of historic Buildings or archaeological remains here. The Fortaleza del Tostón is a fortified tower built by the Spanish in 1797 to defend the area from Pirates and can be found just south of the Harbour. The small church is dedicated to the Virgen del Buen Viaje.

Like many towns in the Canary Islands, this was originally (and still is) a Fishing Village. You can still see old fishermen land their catch in the old harbour after negotiating the perilous-looking entrance to the harbour!

There are a few pleasant fish restaurants overlooking this pretty little harbour – a natural harbour which is now reinforced with a concrete sea wall.

Nightlife in El Cotillo is generally very low-key (there are a few bars) with the exception of events such as local Fiestas and the occasional Music Festival!

“this appartment has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and easy” We found this appartment spotlessly clean and tidy. It was very close to useful local amenities,but at the same time nice and quiet. It was also within easy reach of wonderful and varied beaches and the appartment had ample information about a variety of visitor attractions on the island. The village had a wealth of friendly cafes/ restaurants and tapas bars and we were always able to find somewhere to suit everyone. We very much enjoyed our stay and appreciated the thoughtfulness and kindness of the owners. My partner and I stayed at this apartment from Nov3-Nov10,2010 and we were very pleasnatly surprised with it. There was everything you needed ,from beach mats.barbie,avery nice starter pack,which we both thought was a very nice touch.For those who want abreak from everything ,this is the place to be and also not being amillion metres from anywhere including the fabulous beaches.We shall certainly be back(11 out of 10)

“This is the best equiped apartment we have ever come across in all our years of travel. Every conceivable item to help your stay is to be found in this apartment. Like stated earlier, Andy and Sandie could not have done more to make our stay hastle free, guided tour on our arrival to the best resturants in El Cotillo and how to gain acess to the beaches. The arrival pack is a great touch and is also very welcoming. We will be back in 2011 and it can't arrive fast enough. Thanks once again to both Andy and Sandie.”

Home from home property, the owners have thought of every little detail. Apartment is kitted out with the best quality beds and furniture. A normal cooker allows you to, keep costs down by eating in, especially with the convenience of a good size supermarket just over the road. Sandy and Andy are so friendly and couldn't help enough. We so appreciated their little guided tour of El Cottillo, upon arrival and tips on the best places to eat. Within easy walking distance of the beautiful beaches and lagoons, this apartment is just the perfect base for a peaceful, relaxing, beach holiday of the highest quality.”

“The accommodation is very comprehensive-everything we needed was there. The environment was very pleasant and relaxed and it is only 5 minutes' walk to the sea. We appreciated the availability of tea and coffee and milk-especially good for late night arrivals, and other essentials.
It was an ideal place to stay and relax.”
