The Fuerteventura region
Fuerteventura is the second largest canary island approximately 90 kms off the west coast of Africa. The island boasts all year round sunshine making it an ideal destination for any time of the year. It has some of the finest beaches and is renowned for windsurfing and kitesurfing. There are 3 Golf courses one of which hosted the Spanish Open. New shopping centres have opened in the capital of Puerto Del Rosario. There are many places of interest to visit - museums,caves,volcanoes and local colourful fiestas are held throughout the year. Corralejo is home to the islands only Water Park- within easy reach of El Cotillo -and a twice weekly market is held next door.
El Cotillo area
El Cotillo is a quiet vibrant fishing village on the North West of Fuerteventura. The beaches are ideal for sun worshippers and the village has an excellent choice of inexpensive restaurants. A frequent bus service operates to Corralejo the main resort in the North where you can take a ferry to Lanzarote. For those who would like to explore the island further car hire is recommended.
How to get there
Regular flights from most mainland UK airports (approx 4hours). Approximately 35mins by car from Fuerteventura airport. Airport pickups can be arranged. Taxi fares approx 50euros one way. Orlando car rentals recommended.
