Casa Irene is on the doorstep of some of Europe's finest beaches. To the north (5mins) are the undeveloped lagoons, with their calm shallows, rock pools and quiet sandy stretches, now with Blue Flag accreditation. To the south (5mins) you'll find surfers, windsurfers and kite boarders jostling for position on the waves.
The village of El Cotillo features a host of excellent restaurants and bars, but at heart it remains a quiet fishing village. Nearby you'll find a bustling nightlife at the resort of Corallejo (15 mins), plus many excellent sporting facilities including golf (40mins), diving (20mins), 50m pool (40mins), hiking (10mins), surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding (5mins).
The apartment itself is a fantastic place to kick back and relax! There are two large terraces with loungers and seating areas. Inside, there's a host of entertainment options including TV/DVD, CD/radio, a docking station for your iPod, books and games. And there's a hob and grill and all the kitchen equipment you'll need . . .
. . . including a teapot!

Every room has been furnished and decorated with a loving eye - our family and friends spend several weeks each year at El Carmen, so we like it to be right!
|Further details outdoors|
The first terrace is looking fantastic, with the plants and cactii starting to mature.
Here, you'll find a large table with a sun shade, with views to the mountains and the sea. Perfect for al fresco dining. There's also sunloungers where you can sleep off that lazy lunch!
The upstairs terrace, which adjoins the double room, offers panoramic mountain and sea views, with a glimpse over the low rooftops of El Cotillo.
There are more sunloungers here, plus a table and chair set for two - an evening cocktail at sundown seems appropriate.
There's plenty of parking for residents at El Carmen, and it's completely free.
About this location
The Canary Islands region
The weather in Fuerteventura is pretty constant all year round - mostly sunshine, mostly warm.
The beaches offer some of the island's greatest attractions. Huge sand dunes, more than 150 beaches - most undeveloped.
Fuerteventura is a volcanic island with sharp mountain edges and ancient volcanoes jutting from an arid surface - it's a dramatic landscape.
The mountains make for excellent walking, and the Fuerteventuran authorities are making hikers a new priority.
While there's no chance of another eruption on Fuerteventura, there is still a simmering hilltop in Lanzarote, which can be reached easily by ferry. As can the tiny island of Los Lobos which is worth a day trip.
Surfers, windsurfers and divers hit the island every summer for world championship action.
And golf is now becoming a major attraction with excellent courses now open. There's even a 50m Olympic standard pool at Las Playitas - used by many international teams in their training programmes.
There's lots of tourist attractions on the island showing off its traditions and its dramatic geological history.
El Cotillo is a small fishing village at the northwest tip of the island, famed for its quiet lagoons and its vast, near-deserted beaches.
Its old harbour is a focus of the village, banked by excellent restaurants and bars, and the centre of the annual Fiesta in late August.
In fact, there are lots of excellent places to eat throughout the village - some offering fri wi-fi access.
El Toston (the tower) is another attraction. Built to defend the town against marauding English priates, it now houses a changing art gallery and tourist information centre.
To the north is a lighthouse and visitor centre that can be reached by the coastal road.
