About the home

Set in the beautiful Berry region of France, and on the edge of the Brenne National Park, close by is the Lac du Chambon and the River Creuse. The area is perfect for walking, fishing, water sports and is a haven for wild life.
This characterful house has 3 double bedrooms, a large lounge/ dining room with log burner, a dining kitchen and a wealth of beams. Three pigsties have been converted into a lovely little lounge. The large garden has two patios and is south facing and secluded.

This beautiful house is spacious and light.The large lounge/dining room has patio doors opening onto the garden.
The well equipped kitchen, has a five burner cooker and large fridge.
The smaller lounge which has been converted from three pigsties also has patio doors opening onto the garden.
There are 3 double bedrooms, 2 with double beds and 1 with bunk beds and a single bed.
Each room has an electric heater and there is a log burner in both lounges, making it ideal for all year round.
The garden, which has 2 patios, both with garden furniture , is south facing and secluded and has stunning views over the valley.

The large south facing garden is private and secluded and has patio furniture on both of the patios.

Conditions

No smoking is allowed except in the garden.
Deposit of one third to be paid at the time of booking and balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
Please note, we provide duvets and pillows but not towels or linen.

The Loire Valley / Indre region

Here in the heart of France this beautiful region offers lakes and chateaux and stunning countryside. There are several villages nearby which are officially some of the most beautiful in France, St Benoit du Sault being one of them.

A must-visit is the very moving Oradour sur Glane, it tells a very tragic tale of World War Two and has been left untouched since then.

The Eguzon area

Situated close to the River Creuse, just a 5 minute walk away. Here you will find a beach, play area and a bar/ restaurant, open in high season. Perfect for walking and fishing, canoe hire is available..
Five minutes away by car is the lovely village of Eguzon, a traditional Loire Valley village, unspoiled and peaceful, offering banks, shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
The Lac du Chambon { Lake } is close by and perfect for family entertainment, it has beautiful sandy beaches and all manner of water sports are available , including windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, swimming, water skiing and fishing. The shores of the lake and surrounding areas are wonderful for walkers and ornithologists.

By air, Ryan Air fly from Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton and Edinburgh, to Limoges and Poitiers. The house is situated approx. 70 kms north of Limoges.
By Ferry from Dover, Portsmouth, Newhaven and Southampton. Driving time is approx. 7 hours from Calais.

Guestbook for Maison de Belle

A poet would call it a rural idyll. To awake of a morning, not to the sound of an alarm or commuter traffic, but to bird song, cockerel and a distant dog.... bliss. We now return to the UK with the dreaded M25. We will return.

We enjoyed a very relaxing, peaceful week at Montcocu. Magic scenery, wonderful weather, a very very nice way to finish our holiday in France.

Beautiful area, visited lots of interesting places, including a trip to Rocamadour. Highly recommend restaurant Les Moulins Noyes at the Lac du Chambon, good food, wonderful scenery.

A lovely sunny warm fortnight, we breakfasted on the patio almost every morning and some days the temperature reached 32 degrees! Had a quiet relaxing holiday and enjoyed the birdsong.

Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay, the scenery is gorgeous and so peaceful, we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We shall be recommending both the house and this gorgeous part of France to all our friends and family.
