From the manager

Surrounded by fresh-water streams and pretty woodland, the rural village of Eglingham is full of the picture-postcard-charm that all holiday-villages should have. This lovely stone cottage with views of the open countryside is located on the edge of Eglingham. Renovated to a remarkably high standard, the decor of the house skilfully combines old-world charm with modern practicality and can be enjoyed throughout the year. The spacious living room offers a multi-fuel stove for days when the weather isn't at its best. With a lovely, well-maintained garden, perfect for picnics beneath the apple trees, this cottage is a great place to bring the family.

Amenities: Oil central heating with multi-fuel stoves. Rangemaster electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, radio/CD/iPod dock, WiFi. Fuel, power and fuel for stoves inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Highchair. Off road parking for 2 cars. Private rear garden with furniture and BBQ, mature, front terraced garden with views over village and countryside. Village tennis court close to cottage (free, no need to book). Sorry, no pets & no smoking. Shop 4 miles, pub 2 mins walk. Note: Mobile reception in the village is poor with the exception of O2.

Region: Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Town: Comprised of neat stone houses with well-kept gardens, a Victorian church, large pub and traditional restaurant, the village is a wonderful setting to try living life at a more leisurely pace. For those wanting to escape the hustle-and-bustle of the city, the surrounding hills and valleys offer fascinating walks through this vibrant countryside. Birdwatchers will enjoy trips to the Farne Islands which are rich with wildlife, though you don't have to go far to spot some interesting birds as closer to home, herons have been sighted in the Eglingham burn. For those who like history, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is very close by, as are the castles of Warkworth, Chillingham, Alnwick and Dunstanburgh.
