Edinburgh, like Rome, is built on 7 hills, the most famous of them being; the dorment volcano 'Arthur's Seat', Calton Hill and The Castle Rock. The Castle Rock has a 'tail' or ridge that was carved out by nature during the Ice age, it runs from Edinburgh Castle down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and measures slightly more than 1 mile (Hence the name The Royal Mile). 1000 years ago this ridge became Edinburghs first road. Today, it is known as 'The Royal Mile'. The apartment is set halfway down this beautiful and ancient route.
The Edinburgh / Royal Mile area
One of Europe's most beautiful Capital Cities, Edinburgh is the centre of Devolved Scottish Government, the second largest centre for European financial management after London and is home to the annual International Festival of the Arts and it's famous 'Fringe'. The City also plays regular host to many National & international sporting events and is a Mecca for shopping with many designer and specialist outlets. There is a huge choice of venues for eating & drinking at every level and price imaginable. Golf, swimming, Mounting biking, Hiking, Dry slope skiing, Histoical & ghost tours and the Dynamic Earth attraction are just some of the things to enjoy during your visit.

“Just perfect!”
The directions were spot-on, we found the apartment with no problems. Myself & my husband travelled with our two young children (5 & 3 yrs old), and although there were admittedly a lot of steps to climb to reach the apartment, they were never once a problem. We loved the little touches such as tea, coffee & milk supplied on arrival, and the kitchen is supplied with everything you might need. Fabulous find in the cupboard for the kids - games!! Loved the selection of books to read. And even a first aid cabinet (although thankfully we didn't need it)! We really were wow-ed by this apartment, it was cosy and comfortable and the kids very much enjoyed the (hi-jacked) luxurious double bed while Mum & Dad had to take the sofabed!!! The Wi-Fi was honestly rubbish, but we didn't realise the apartment had wi-Fi so we hadn't bet on using it. We tried to with our mobile phones but the signal wasn't great (the only fault though!). It is a perfect base if you're exploring Edinburgh, pretty much anywhere is reachable on foot from here. If you're visiting Edinburgh with kids we highly recommend Camera Obscura and the National Museum - both within walking distance (and perhaps a visit to Jenners' lower ground floor!). We just can't fault it, an amazing place to stay. When we return to Edinburgh we will certainly make this apartment our first choice of where to stay.
Response: Thank you for a fabulous review, you've just about covered everything. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. I am going to have to do something in regards to the WiFi. The gadget's called a T-Mobile pointer. It's called a pointer because you find the best signal available and simply point it at it (or just fix it on the wall in that position). It might just be in the wrong place. I'll move it about and see if I can get a better signal. Glad it didn't spoil your holiday. Haste ye back. Colin.
I highly recommend this B&B. The location is great and the breakfast was wonderful. I would stay there again.
Response: Thanks for a great review but I think you are confusing 107 Royal Mile with another place you must have stayed at. We are the self catering apartment not the B&B so if you enjoyed the breakfast here... more

“Perfect location”
The apartment is a real hidden gem within the city of Edinburgh. Located on the royal mile, it makes the whole city easily accessible with just a few minutes of walking. The location is great, and all the extra thought put into furnishing and preparing the apartment for visitors makes for a painless and pleasurable stay. From providing umbrellas for Edinburgh's always raining weather, to leaving universal outlet adapters around the house, to the pint of milk left in the fridge, the owner goes to lengths to make you feel comfortable and at home. The only real drawback is that the internet is so slow that it boarders on useless, so be prepared to go hunting for places with public wifi. If we ever need a place to stay in Edinburgh, this apartment will be the first place we look.
Response: Thank you for a great review. Being in the heart of the city makes all the difference in getting around and about with ease and of course popping back to the apartment for lunch or to drop off a few holiday purchases during the day. Sorry about the WiFi, it's a T mobile Pointer; we bought two, one for each apartment after reading some great reviews. I'll get on to them and find out what the problem may have been. Whenever I stay at the apartment it has always behaved itself so I think it must be something to do with the T Mobile signal at the time. There's not much point in me paying out each month for a hit and miss WiFi so I'll get on to them about it first thing. Thanks for letting me know. Haste ye back. Colin.

“The best location in Edinburgh”
This apartment was totally fab and perfect for our needs and we took our daughter to her first year at university. Great location - restaurants all around, lovely inside & beautifully clean. A superb master bedroom (the bed was so comfy that I took a pic of the make on my iPhone before we left) and (my daughter reports) a comfy sofa bed. Will return again I'm certain.
Response: Thank you for your fab review! I'm glad you liked the apartment; our preparation team will be delighted with your comments. The mattress was designed by NASA, I have one myself and is by far the most comfy I've ever slept on. I hope your daughter settles well into university; she's going to love Edinburgh. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Excellent Location--Lovely Apartment”
The apartment was in a perfect location on the Royal Mile, to walk to all the sights or to the train station. It's equipped with every amenity and comfort that our family of one adult and two teens needed (even a fresh carton of milk in the fridge). It has character and charm but is also very clean and modern. Only minor caveats: the combined washer-dryer didn't dry our clothes (maybe there's a trick we didn't master), the door lock was tricky at first, and the wi-fi was a bit weak. Overall, we loved it and would stay here again.
Response: Thank you for a great review. I'm glad you mentioned how easy it is to get to all the sights and of course the train station. Both of our apartments were chosen for their fantastic location. You made the case perfectly for renting a well equipped holiday apartment central to the action. I can't understand why the wi-fi was weak, it's a T-Mobile Pointer which we bought after reading some great reviews but I will certainly look in to it. Thanks for letting me know. Haste ye back. Colin.
Couldn't have wished for a nicer place to stay. The apartment was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped and the bed was sooo comfy. It was nice to be able to make a cup of tea after our journey! The location was brilliant, right in the centre of Edinburgh so we could pop back when ever we wanted. Many thanks for making our stay so pleasant, would recommend the apartment to anyone.
Response: Oh wow! Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday and found our Royal Mile apartment so much to your liking. We know how hard you have worked for your well deserved holiday and with that in mind we make five promises: 1. We won't let our quality slip. 2. We won't rest on our laurels 3. We will improve. 4. Our visitor will always come first. And 5. We will always offer good value for money. Thanks again for your fantastic review. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Fantastic Week”
Fantastic Location, Clean, Warm, Spacious and Comfortable. Could not have asked for more. We were in the middel of everything . . including seeing the Queen ! Thanks Colin C U next time.
Response: Thanks for a great review; I shall pass your kind comments on to our apartment preparation team. It is handy being in the middle of everything, not having to worry about which bus to catch or expensive taxis to get to the heart of things. And of course not having to agonize about the time and transport back to the apartment at the end of a great night, just walk up the stairs and fall in to bed. Just the ticket. I'm glad you got to see the Queen; she's often in Edinburgh staying at the Palace of Holyroodhouse just at the bottom of the road. Thanks again. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Excellent set-up”
From start to finish renting this holiday apartment went well. The owner was very helpful and clear about everything, the price/location was right for us, and we found the apartment comfortable, well-equipped and very clean. No fuss - just great!
Response: Thank you for a fab review. Your kind words mean so much to my team and I. Our promise is to not only keep but to improve on the standard we have set and reviews like yours reassure us that our visitors are getting a good all-round deal. Thank you. Haste ye back. Colin.
Second year running my wife and I have stayed in the apartment. Just as per our first time last year, everything about the apartment was great - Location, Facilities, Cleanliness. We are already planning another visit next year.
Response: Thank you for a great review. Returning visitors reviews are the best form of reassurance to new visitors, to both Edinburgh and self catering, looking for a well located, appointed and comfortable apartment. Every year we make improvements of differing proportions in an effort to keep the experience as fresh as we can. We are delighted to have now received your booking for next year. Thank you. I've said it before and I'll say it again; our visitors work hard for their holiday so it's only fair that we do too. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Spectacular Location, Great Flat”
I traveled to Edinburgh with my wife and mother and couldn't have been more pleased with the location and appointments of this accommodation. Reservation was quick and easy, Colin was professional, and we were even able to add an extra day on short notice. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Commute from the airport couldn't have been easier. Don't wait, book now!
Response: Thank you for a great review! We are very lucky to have our holiday apartments in, what is probably, the best visitor location Edinburgh has to offer. As you found out everything you need for a fab time is right at hand. But even then, we have nothing without the comfort and enjoyment of our visitors and fantastic reviews like yours. Thanks again. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Perfect place to stay!”
107 Royal Mile was the perfect place to stay. It is spacious and comfortable with a nice homely feel. Although it was right on the Royal Mile it was really quiet. The location was ideal as its close to all the tourist attractions, pubs and restaurants. I would definately recommend this place to any one who wants to visit Edinburgh! Thank you !
Response: Thank you for a wonderful review. It is quite amazing that an apartment right on the Royal Mile could be so quiet! “Fanastic apartment, excellent location, gorgeous city. What more do you need.”
The apartment is lovely and a good size for four people staying Facilities provided were excellent. The location of the apartment is fantastic and really easy to get to. When I go back to Edinburgh I will def be asking Colin first to see if the apartment is vacant on the dates. Colin is easy to get in touch with and was very accommodating.
Response: Thank you for your fantastic review. We won't be resting on our laurels though. Every year we look to improve the apartment to make the 'Royal Mile Experience' better for our visitors. This year alone we have fitted a brand new quality kitchen along with appliances and installed free WiFi. And later this month we will be replacing some of the lounge furniture with top of the range stuff. Not because we have to, but because we want to help make your visit to Edinburgh one to remember. We know you worked hard for your break and therefore it's only fair that we should too. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Excellently appointed apartment in the centre of Edinburgh”
My friend and I recently stayed in this excellent apartment. We were very pleased with its location, as it was easy to get to all of the places of interest and the shops!! A lot of thought has gone into furnishing and fitting out the apartment. Also it was spotlessly clean and the bed linen/towels were of good quality. We would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Edinburgh and would definitely stay there again.
Response: Thank you for a wonderful, thoughtful and observant review. We try extra hard to make our visitors experience both comfortable & memorable and a review like yours proves to us it's all worth while. Thank you. By continually up-grading and improving the quality of the apartment many of our visitors, like you, are choosing to return to us. Thanks for the recommendation and the great review. Haste ye back. “Outstanding apartment with everything within easy reach.”
For years we have been visiting Edinburgh. Originally we used to stay in a hotel, but some years ago we found this superb apartment. It contains everything what you might need, everything has been provided for and it feels very comfortably like home. Even internet is provided. To us, most agreeable thing about it is, that you are living as one the local people. The apartment itself is quiet, but immediately outside the close you are in the thick of things. Everything worthwhile visiting is nearby, e.g. Holyrood Palace, Scottish Museum. Also transport is easily at hand, like buses (airport connection) and Waverley station. After all these years we feel that we did not do and see all there is to be seen and done, so we'll continue to come back here every year.
Response: For a visitor to return to our apartment year after year is testament to our dedication and an immense honour and privilege for us. You are a most valued visitor with, like us, a great love of what we believe to be one of the greatest cities in the world. I've never thought about it before but you are absolutely right; the hotels can't match the freedom, value and feeling of belonging that a well appointed self-catering apartment offers. Thank you for a wonderful and honest review which I'm sure will help other visitors decide that a city centre self-catering apartment is the best place to stay when visiting this magnificent, striking and vibrant capital; Edinburgh. Haste ye back. Colin.

“Great place - thoroughly recommend!”
A great place to stay. Central location, very clean, warm and all the amenities you will need. Wi-Fi a bonus as well. Owners very organized and extremely helpful with lots of information on the facilities in the unit. Would have no hesitation in recommending and will definitely stay there again on our next visit.
Response: Thank you for a great review. Our apartment preparation team work very hard between lets to ensure everything is just right for the most important of people; our next visitor. It's lovely to know their efforts are rewarded with such appreciation. The free WiFi came about by us listening to our visitors and acting upon their needs. We are delighted that you found the tourist information in the apartment so helpful. Thank you for your recommendations. You will be welcome back anytime. Haste ye back. Colin.

This self-catering flat is well situated for Edinburgh visitors, covnenient for walking to many of the tourist attractions in central Edinburgh, but also very convenient for all public transportation. There are numerous good restaurants and pubs in the area, but the apartment is fitted out for cooking one's own meals and supermarkets are only a short walk away. The furnishings are comfortable and adequate for longer stays. I am in Edinburgh about twice a year, either by myself or with family, and I have been staying here regularly for several years. I really enjoy the flat itself, as well as the location. However, the flat would not be suitable for people who have difficulty climbing steps.
Response: Thank you for a wonderful review. I am so lucky to have such a well positioned apartment. As you say; good restaurants and pubs, public transportation, tourist attractions and supermarkets (not to mention the fantastic array of designer shops) are all close by. “A truly wonderful apartment in an excellent location”
We stayed here for a weekend city break and found ourselves in a clean, modern well furnished apartment. The location meant we were minutes away from the best bars, pubs and restaurants.
The booking for this trip was made simple and helpful. Although we never met the owner, he replied to emails quickly and always to resolve problems.
The only downside, and it is a small one, was the 3 flights of stairs up to the apartment. Not so easy with luggage but better than staying on the ground floor.
5 out of 5. Highly recommended!!!
Response: Wow! What a great review. You're right; being so central means you are able to make the most of your break without having to catch busses or taxis to see the sights, visit the shops or have a good night out on the town. I'm pleased you mentioned the stairs as some of our more senior or not so able visitors might struggle to cope with them. But as you rightly say “better than staying on the ground floor”. A great review that is both fair and informative. Thank you Haste ye back. Colin.

“Excellent value, centrally located accommodation in the heart of Edinburg”
My family and I stay for one week in this accommodation while in Edinburg. It is right at the heart of Edinburg and represents excellent value for money. Colin, the landlord, was very helpful and everything we required was available. The accommodation was clean and represented great value for money.
Note: This accommodation maybe not be suitable for very young children, older persons or disabled persons as there are several steps up to the accommodation.

“Brilliant”
We stayed for 4 nights in July 2010 and had previously stayed in July 2008. We travelled with a young child both times. The apartment is in a brilliant location and everything you need is on your doorstep. I could not find any fault with this apartment and I have passed the details onto a number of friends. The owner is easy to deal with and the two times I have stayed have ran smoothly. Would definetely recommend this for your stay in Edinburgh.
Response: Thank you for a fab review and the recommendations. It's lovely to know that all the hard work we put in helps to make a smooth booking and an enjoyable visit. Edinburgh is such a fantastic city you can't help but want to return time and time again. Haste ye back. Colin.
Our stay in Edinburgh was perfect, interesting sights just around the corner. A lot of good restaurants and shopping, The flat was cosy and clean. We gladly return any day of the year.

“Couldn't ask for a better location in Edinburgh”
107 Royal Mile was the perfect place for us to spend our week in Edinburgh! Located mid-way between Edinburgh castle and Holyrood Place and only 3 minutes from the bus terminals at Waverly Station, it was ideal for getting around. From the dining area, the views north to Calton Hill and Old St. Paul's Cathedral from the backside was beautiful and peaceful. The view from the bedroom window down onto High Street was nice and you could stand there are view the action below. The apartment was very well equipped and everything you need is provided for. There are plenty of guides and reading material on Edinburgh and Scotland to give you a pretty good idea of what you can do and see, using the apratment as your base. The only caution is to be prepared for the stairs leading up to the unit. If you have a lot of luggage, you will find yourself quite winded by the time you get everything up there. But it's worth the struggle. And be prepared to hear music from the pubs on the street below well into the night on weekends which are the reasons for the 4-star rating instead of 5-stars.
Response: What a professional review! You're right it's a great location for anyone wishing to visit Edinburgh who wants to get around and see all that it has to offer. It's all on the doorstep. Although I agree the stairs can be a bit of a no go for the elderly and/or infirm but then its very hard to find a city centre self catering apartment in the heart of things with a lift. Thanks for a great review. Haste ye back. Colin
