Edinburgh

Leith is an area like no other. Boasting its own distinct character, Leith is a hub of lively eating and drinking spots, creativity and cultural diversity.

The district of Leith rests on the shores of the Firth of Forth at the mouth of the Water of Leith and has been the port of Edinburgh for hundreds of years. The original harbour dates back to the 14th century, and thus has witnessed many travelling kings and queens.

Today, Leith is a vivacious area jam-packed with top restaurants boasting the best chefs, delicious delis and chic drinking spots. The district asserts a jovial attitude and hosts an eclectic mix of people and cultures ensuring exploring Leith is an unrivalled experience.

The most charming way into Leith is to follow the Water of Leith walkway from the city and emerge into the picturesque Shore area which is lined with bistros, stylish bars, traditional pubs and first-rate restaurants.

The five-star Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed alongside Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and offers a fascinating insight into this unique, royal residence.

Leith is also known for its culture and creativity. As you explore the area, uncover independent galleries where you can purchase artworks and contemporary galleries too, such as the Corn Exchange Gallery. The district also plays host to various cultural festivals such as the Leith Festival and the Edinburgh Mela. Leith even has its own radio station.

Take a stroll up Leith Walk back into the centre of Edinburgh for a shopping experience like no other in the capital. The locals proudly boast that there is little to nothing you won't be able to find on this street.

"Great location, accomodations for great price"

We loved this cozy (perfect for 2) apt in Leith, just a short bus trip from Princes St. It's walkable to downtown Edinburgh but conserve your strength if you're planning to walk around all d… More

Edinburgh is built on and around a dead volcano and so can be a bit hilly at places, however there is a great affordable bus service that goes on into the night and that everyone uses. The cheapest and best way to get around.

"Handy location, clean apartment"

We stayed here over the last weekend in August, being also the end of the Fringe Festival therefore lots going on. We had stayed in Edinburgh many times before but not down this end of town (normally the Grassmarket area). Quieter this end of town due to the Festival mostly in the Old Town but still lots of pubs and bars on the main road as you walk to town which we did in about 20-30 mins, buses if you dont like walking! Felt safe even walking at midnight. Nice Sicillian bakery across the road and other cafes nearby. Apartment was very clean and well equipped and looked like the photos. Top floor so a few stairs to go up. Think it might be the 4th floor. (Don´t be put off by the hallway - the apartment is much nicer!) The owner Peter was helpful and flexible with us leaving our bags at the apartment until our train left. Would recommend to stay if you are looking for a reasonably priced apartment for a short stay in Edinburgh.

The apartment has been much improved since these reviews, it now has a fold out comfortable chair / bed so can accomodate 3 people and has free wifi provided

"Great !"

"Cosy, quiet and beautiful flat, with all the kitchen essentials and a very nice view."

Our short stay in this flat was excellent and very worthwhile, Peter has been very kind and helpful throughout our stay, there were absolutely no problems at all. Location is perfect, only about 15 minutes walk to Princes Street and a very convenient location for buses as there is a bus stop just outside the flat.
