Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
All those ‘young at heart' will simply adore ‘Thatched Cottage'. This utterly charming and picturesque, detached stone cottage does indeed have an authentic thatched roof and is nestled within a fairy tale like woodland glade. The setting is idyllic and the interior of the property equally so. Whilst the property is a secluded rural retreat in every sense it is, almost unbelievably, only a handful of miles from the hustle and bustle of the majestic city of Edinburgh. The cottage has been recently refurbished, has one bedroom and can accommodate a maximum of two guests. The good-sized lounge boasts a heart warming log fire and to ensure guests have no option but to utterly relax, the fresh looking bathroom has a modern Jacuzzi bath. There is off-road parking for two cars and guests need only walk out of the front door to be among charming woodland walkways and cycle paths. Another advantage of staying at this super ‘picture –postcard' property is that guests are eligible for a complimentary visit to nearby Hopetoun House when it is open to the public. In addition, given the cottage's setting within the Hopetoun Deer Farm, guests have ready access to the wide range of outdoor activities available at the farm such as quad biking, archery and clay pigeon shooting

The Lothians region
Just over the English border lies Dumfries and Galloway in the west and the Scottish Borders in the east. These two very distinctive areas have retained a totally rural and tranquil atmosphere where visitors can enjoy a wonderful holiday away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In fact here you'll find miles of beautiful untouched countryside and striking coastlines; a great place for outdoors holidays, fishing, walking, sailing and cycling. Coastal and beach strolls and small fishing harbours waiting to be explored. The capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh, is probably on most people's ‘must visit' list and with good reason. The city is renowned for its magnificent architecture and historical buildings, which include Edinburgh Castle and numerous museums and galleries. Today Edinburgh is a thriving modern city with world class shops and restaurants and lots of traditional atmospheric pubs.
Whilst visitors could have a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining holiday without even leaving the confines of the deer park this is a region of Scotland with much to see and do. A visit to the beautiful city of Edinburgh- the accolade ‘the Athens of the North' is richly deserved- is of course a must. The city is a major arts and cultural centre, has a rich collection of sublime historic buildings, a fantastic range of shopping outlets and much more besides! Young children will adore the much loved Edinburgh Zoo for example. There are also good transport links to Glasgow in the west and the lovely Fife region in the north. The latter's coastline is famed for its collection of idyllic former fishing vessels brimming with atmosphere, heritage and charm. The delightful city of Perth is not too far away and would provide visitors with a most interesting and pleasant day-trip. Keen walkers and cyclists will enjoy visiting the nearby Union Canal which offers pleasant exercise out in the fresh air along the canal tow path.
