The Lothians region
A generously proportioned, Semi-detached ex miners cottage in middle of a fine row of dwellings with gardens back and front for exclusive use of guests. As can be seen from map plenty local shopping but this is cleverly obscured from view from cottages by a long copse of trees. Many eateries for the can't cook or won't cook set.
Easy reach to Edinburgh City by regular bus service or train (halt 10min walk away). Edinburgh and the outlying Towns are great for Heritage, entertainment, festivals and visitor attractions. Local beach is 2.4 miles away: Portobello to the east is Musselburgh beach and fishing harbour 2 miles
There are 4 local Golf courses within 2 miles: Duddingston, Musselburgh, Liberton and Prestonfield. Within the wider city and environs there about 24 courses within easy reach of the cottage and plenty room to store one's golf clubs.
Plenty exploring in the nearby East Lothian towns or the Scottish Borders on Day Trips. We are on the edge of the countryside too with some fine coastal walks (we are 2 min from Edinburgh bypass so easy access to further Central Belt destinations. The medieval Roslyn Chapel is a short drive away and well worth a visit. The NTS property of Newhailes is close by and hosts numerous events outside during the summer.
The climate is much the same as Edinburgh 5 miles away(Maritime -changeable). The Locale is much in evidence in the social and political history of Edinburgh's local communities but as ever times are a changing and has embraced the present in recent developments.
Edinburgh - The City itself is World Heritage Site with a plethora of entertainment, Festivals ,Theatres, Cinemas, , Resturants, Sports centres - wet and dry spots with regular competitions and galas.
More local are the nearby towns who all advertise their own brand of visitor attractions interest and Festivals regularly.
