The Edinburgh airport (www.edinburghairport.com) has 40 airlines flying into it and serves 90 destinations, and several daily connecting flights from the major London airports (cheap deals from BA, BMI and Easyjet). Once at the airport there is a very efficient bus which goes from airport to Waverley Train Station and costs £3.50 single and £6 open return.
Then it's a short taxi ride or a 15 minute walk.
A taxi direct from the airport will cost approx £20-£25.
You can travel directly from London, Glasgow, and many other cities (www.nationalrail.co.uk). Once at Waverley train station a taxi to the apartment will cost about £5-6 pounds, however walking will only take approx 15 minutes.
If walking you come out Waverley Station onto North Bridge and turn right and head to Princes St (50 metres). Turn left and walk along Princes St until you reach Hanover St on the right. Head down Hanover Street crossing over George St and Queen Street. Go straight over Queen St and continue down Dundas St and Cumberland St is 4th street on the left. The apartment is at the far end of Cumberland St on the right hand side.
From the south - the A1 stops at the east end of Princes Street. Turn right from Waterloo Place on to Leith Street. At roundabout take the first exit left onto York Place leading to Queen Street. Turn right into Howe Street (sign posted Comely Bank) and then take 4th road on right for Cumberland Street and 5th road on right for North West Cumberland Lane.
From the North- Take the A90 following signs for the city centre. When on Queen Street take the 2nd road on left into Howe Street (sign posted Comely Bank) and then take 4th road on right for Cumberland Street and 5th road on right for North West Cumberland Lane.

Lovely, well maintained basement flat (steep, uneven steps may make it unsuitable for some) in an ideal location. Within easy walking distance to the city centre, Botanical Gardens and close to cafes, restaurants, shops etc of the quirky Stockbridge.
Very helpful and attentive owner.

My husband, 18yr. old daughter and I stayed here for 5 days at the start of our Scottish adventure. It was a reasonable walking distance even the first day, after 24hrs. of wakefulness and a suitcase, from the train station! The apt. has everything you could need, including a dryer, which is a luxury in Scotland I discovered! We were tired, and not going out in the evening, so being abit out of the town center was no issue for us. It is in a lovely neighbourhood which on hindsight, as we drove to Sterling, I really wished I'd explored more. There are a couple of groceries nearby and afew restaurants. We ate in and were glad to be able to do that.

I loved this modern, clean, spacious apartment. Cumberland st is a great central location.
If I could just suggest a couple of things that would greatly improve this let, .....a comfortable mattress topper, better quality duvet, pillows and bed linen, also a few store cuboard essentials. I think it would then be PERFECT
Thank you for your kind comments and I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
All bedlinen is replaced frequently and we always use quality, 100%cotton linens. The bedlinen at the time of your stay was mostly Laura Ashley or Dorma, however we have now replaced it all with more robust brands!
Hope to see you back sometime and many thanks again for stay with Edinburgh Vacation Apartments
