The Lothians region

Edinburgh is Scotland's capital and one of the UK's most popular tourist destinations. From the charming medieval buildings along the famous Royal Mile in the Old Town to the neat Georgian townhouses of the New Town. Edinburgh is surrounded by hills which are perfect for a stroll and give a great outlook. There is a huge variety of things to see and do in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Castles and distilleries, country parks, excellent restaurants and bars, great shopping, beaches and golf courses. Edinburgh is a great base for exploring and day trips and excursions to the Highlands, the West Coast and the rest of Scotland can be easily arranged. If you would like more information on trips available please ask.

Edinburgh

Great for shopping, dining out and sightseeing. There are cool boutiques on cobbled streets in and around the city centre. Evening entertainment can be found in any of the trendy city centre bars and restaurants or Leith's hip or traditional bars and restaurants where you can dine on fish caught straight from the surrounding waters. Edinburgh Festivals take place throughout the year with a wide variety of great events including the International Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh Book Festival and the Film Festival amongst others. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is one of Scotland's most iconic events held every August. You can tour the Royal Botanic Garden, only 1 mile from the apartment, with its wonderful Glasshouses, exhibitions and a world of colourful plants and shrubs. You can climb Arthur's Seat, an iconic extinct volcano in Holyrood Park, or try the easy and short route up Calton Hill just off Princes Street, both for spectacular views across the city. Nelson's Monument, in the shape of a telescope, is well worth the climb to the top. A ball at the top of its mast drops simultaneously with the firing of the One o'clock Gun from Edinburgh Castle.
