A superb sunny apartment wonderfully located for the main tourist attractions of Edinburgh. Situated in Canonmills on the edge of the New Town there are numerous good and interesting restaurants and friendly traditional bars a short walk from the apartment. Nearby is, as far as we are aware, the only Russian cafe in Edinburgh. King George V park is 200 metres from the apartment door. This is a quiet, leafy park which has kids climbing frames and swings. The Rodney Street tunnel, a former railway tunnel, extends the off-road pedestrian-cycleway network into the park. A bit further away, but not much, are the famous Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, perfect to relax in after frenetic tourist activity. Adjacent to the Gardens is Inverleith Park with a boating pond and tennis courts. Also nearby is Glenogle Swim Centre tucked away between Canonmills and Stockbridge, on Glenogle Road, a hark back to Victorian baths, but with a modern twist. The Water of Leith walkway is also easily accessed.

The Lothians region

The Scottish capital is located on the East side of Scotland within fertile land which has a lower average rainfall than the west . The city is close to the Firth of Forth with its iconic bridges. The Port of Leith, on the Firth, has its own special history and is the location of The Royal Yacht Brittannia, which is now a visitor attraction. There are many famous golf courses and great beaches to the East of Edinburgh near Gullane. The small coastal town of North Berwick with it's Sea Bird Centre and boat trips around the bass rock is a special favourite of ours and a great day trip by train. Edinburgh is a great place to use as a base to explore other parts of the country. In less than an hour you can travel to Glasgow, there is the beautiful unspoilt Borders with its abbeys and castles, Stirling Castle the resting place of William Wallace and Perth, The Gateway to the Highlands etc etc.

Edinburgh is a city which has been loved by visitors for centuries. In the past decade it has become an increasingly cosmopolitan and vibrant place providing interest and inspiration for visitors at any time of the year.

We have a fantastic range of restaurants, bars and shops to suit all tastes and pockets and there are a huge number of excellent museums and galleries in the city too. Edinburgh’s diverse cultural and historical heritage is richly represented today with world famous writers such as JK Rowling, Ian Rankin, Alexander McCall-Smith and Irvine Welsh all calling the city home. You can also trace the footsteps of Langdon and Neveu from Dan Brown’s massively popular The De Vinci Code at Rosslyn Chapel just outside Edinburgh.

The city explodes into life during the Edinburgh Festival each August and early September and over the Hogmanay celebrations at New Year. The Edinburgh Festival is a generic term which is used to cover the following world renowned festivals; The Edinburgh International Festival, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, The Edinburgh Military Tattoo, The Edinburgh International Book Festival and The Edinburgh International Film Festival. During the Edinburgh Festival the very best the world has to offer culturally is available on your doorstep and the choice is so huge it can be bewildering.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is the world’s most famous celebration of New Year and the city has an amazing programme of events to keep revellers fully occupied at this time.

"Excellent place to stay. Can't recommend enough!"

My partner and I went to Edinburgh for the rugby and this was the perfect place for what was an excellent weekend. The flat was beautiful, clean, had a great layout and a very homely feel. The owners were also very acccommodating. There were so many lovely little touches that made it feel like home. The area is great with excellent acccess to amenities(a very large tesco is right on the doorstep as well as butcher,s delicatessens etc just up the road) and with Broughton Street and numberous New Town pubs close by its an ideal place to stay to sample the delights of a fantastic city. We were very sad to leave and will definitely be looking to book again next time we head up.

Thank you so much for your great comments. We are in to our second year renting out the flat, and still get a real buzz if people have a good time, enjoy the flat, and particularly appreciate the wonders of Edinburgh!

"So good we wanted to move in!"

My friend and I stayed at this lovely apartment for Hogmanay 2012/3 and had an absolute blast. The apartment could not have been better. The owners really have thought of everything, it's honestly a home from home. We loved the apartment so much we could have moved in. If you're looking for a base a short walk from the centre, close to shops and bars then this is the place for you. We really couldn't fault it. The owners are absolutely lovely too and even posted down some things we had left. I have already recommended Eyre Place to friends and family. Wish I could go back tomorrow and do it all again (although not sure my liver would thank me!).

"Beautiful flat"

Great flat and really friendly owners . We arrived late as the traffic was bad and Lothian was very understanding and even waitied out on the road for us to save us a parking space , even though it was freezing!.

The apartment is beautful and very cosy , located about a 15 minute wallk from the centre or an hour walk if you stop at a few of the pubs on the way up. The kitchen is well equiped with all you need and you can see edinburgh castle from the living room. The flat is loacted at the top of the building so 3 flights of stairs it wasnt a problem for us but may be for others.

All in all a great place owned by great people very highly reccomended.
