The Lothians region
Edinburgh and the Lothians is a region of iconic landmarks, world-famous festivals and exciting possibilities. Find excellent attractions, activities and entertainment in Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, and beautiful, peaceful countryside in the Lothians.
Combining the bustle of the city, the beauty of the coastline and the tranquillity of the countryside, Edinburgh and the Lothians offers wonderful variety combining history, culture and adventure.
With six weeks of incredible festive celebrations, it is no surprise that Edinburgh has been voted the best place in the UK to enjoy Christmas and Hogmanay.
Arthur's Seat is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, described by Robert Louis Stevenson as "a hill for magnitude, a mountain in virtue of its bold design". It is situated in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill rises above the city to a height of 250.5 m (822 ft), provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is relatively easy to climb, and is popular for hillwalking. Though it can be climbed from almost any direction, the easiest and simplest ascent is from the east, where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch.
Calton Hill is a hill in central Edinburgh, Scotland, just to the east of the New Town. Views of, and from, the hill are often used in photographs and paintings of the city.
Calton Hill is the headquarters of the Scottish Government, which is based at St Andrew's House, on the steep southern slope of the hill; with the Scottish Parliament Building, and other key buildings, for example Holyrood Palace, lying near the foot of the hill. The hill also includes several iconic monuments and buildings: the National Monument, Nelson's Monument, the Dugald Stewart Monument, the New Parliament House (the Royal High School, the Robert Burns Monument, the Political Martyrs' Monument and the City Observatory.
Meadowbank Retail Park is located just west of Meadowbank Stadium and just south of Hibs Stadium, accessed off the main road east out of Edinburgh (Scotland), the continuation of London Road up to Jock's Lodge. Most recent store addition is TK Maxx, Shops include TK Max Home Furnishings - Home, JJB Sports, Sainsburys Supermarket, Gala Bingo, Brantano, Poundstretcher & KFC.

"Great flat in a beautiful location"
We were greeted upon arrival as agreed (earlier than usual, as rearranged by Petrea to suit our schedule which was above and beyond what she had to do) and shown around the impeccably clean flat. Everything was exactly as listed, gorgeous views, great location and perfect for five guests. Views of Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park while drinking our morning coffee made for a wonderful start to each day. Highly recommended!

"Pleasant and felt like home"
My girlfriend and I traveled to Edinburgh for our anniversary ...
As we were spending a week in there, we decided to take an apartment to save a little bit of money,
Staying this apartment felt totally like home.
Clean, big enough, everything you need is there, excellent kitchen, equipped with everything you need really.
location is good, 20 minutes away from the city, but walking through the park was a pleasure experience.
There is a big supermarket on the other side (10 minutes walk) where you can shop for whatever you need.
The owner was quite generous and helpful and welcomed any of our need.
definitely a great vacation rental if ever in Edinburgh.

"Phenomenal - can't wait to return!"
When searching for a property to rent for a few days in Edinburgh to stay with a friend, we stumbled upon this apartment online. We felt it was the perfect size, and with a very short walk (10 mins) from the Royal Mile - it was a great base for the week!
Petrea is a marvellous host, with everything organised well. For someone as meticulous as I, she was a godsend as she had everything in place. We received a warm welcome from Petrea and Steve, who helped us with our bags up the stairs, which was a great help. They were friendly and helpful, giving us tips and ideas for our stay.
We felt immediately at home with the homely decor, and it was a delight to come back after a tiring day seeing the sights to such a comfortable place. It is more than big enough for a good few people to stay, although there were only two of us. We actually found ourselves popping back between tours and museums for a cup of tea, which we hadn't anticipated but it was so close and pleasant to be there.
As for the flat itself, the two bathrooms were immaculate and handy, one being en suite. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, with plentiful hanging space. I suffer from a bad back, so mattresses are always a worry for me but I was comfortable, as whilst the beds are soft enough to be comfortable, they are still supportive. The living area is comfortable, and the dining table/coffee table is easy to use. The kitchen has every facility you could need, including a large fridge/freezer which is handy if you eat in the apartment. I cooked dinner in the flat, and I found more than enough pots and pans to last even my huge meals. The tenement is in fact very quiet, and the stairs are not so much as to be cumbersome.
It is a very easy walk from the town centre, and a far better option than some of the more hilly places in Edinburgh. It had marvellous views over Arthur's Seat and had a supermarket a very short walk away.
We would recommend getting your shopping delivered, ASDA came up the stairs for us which is a nice relaxing way of stocking the fridge. We will certainly be recommending this to our friends and family, and will hopefully be returning at some point.
Thank you so much Petrea and Steve!

"A lovely light flat with great views of parkland"
The flat was really clean, great two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The fact it was at the top of the building kept us fit and the kitchen/lounge was so homely with great facilities. We loved hanging out here.
The owner Petrea could not have been more helpful. She even went way beyond the call of duty sending us a coat we had left in the flat by post! Overall very impressed and great value for money.

"Brilliant flat, much more than we expected!"
My daughter, Kirsty booked this flat for me and my husband, Kirsty and her husband and a family friend. This flat is great, it has an ensuite bedroom (with swirly bath and shower) two further bedrooms, separate bathroom and a doube leather bedsettee in the lounge. The kitchen was very modern, with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, and everything you could ever need. It has loads of room, plenty wardrobes etc. It was very clean, towels, teatowels, all cleaning and washing products, all provided. The views are stunning overlooking Holyrood park and Arthurs seat (Holyrood is just across the road) We loved it.
