The Old School Tower is brand new to the holiday market after an amazing refurbishment. It is the sister property to our original Old School apartment (property 500279) which has achieved five star reviews from every single guest and a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence - but the Old School Tower has the added benefit of balconies on which to wine and dine!

In a unique building right on the edge of the beautiful Holyrood Park, this extremely glamorous apartment is sure to delight! The Old School Tower - which is just a short stroll away from the Royal Mile, winding up to Edinburgh Castle - feels like a little piece of countryside in the heart of the city.

The apartment is on the second floor of the bell tower in an historic old school which enjoys spectacular views over Holyrood Park and the cliffs of Salisbury Crags, leading up to the famous peak of Arthur's Seat - recently named as one of the world's best 'city hikes' by Lonely Planet. This contemporary apartment is flooded with natural light and features opulent furnishings, designer wallpaper and fabrics and hand-crafted furniture. It is particularly suited to couples enjoying a city break or romantic getaway.

One of the many attractions on your doorstep is the Palace of Holyroodhouse where Her Majesty the Queen often visits with other members of the Royal Family. With royalty as neighbours, it is fitting that you also experience some of the grandeur of royalty – albeit on a smaller scale.

This peaceful, individually designed studio apartment is the epitome of urban glamour but with the comfort of home. With the French style décor, you might say it reminds you of a mini Palace of Versailles!

Underfloor heating, cosy bathrobes, the best of Egyptian cotton bed linen, an opulent king size bed with a high quality pocket-sprung mattress, fluffy white bath towels, a feature fire, sumptuous velvet curtains, flat screen TV and DVD player (with a selection of DVDs provided), chandeliers, an iPod docking station, designer furniture and accessories, along with the well-fitted shower-room with Molton Brown toiletries, all give you a feeling of a boutique hotel suite.

But the Old School Tower also gives you the added benefit of independence and flexibility. You can take a short stroll to wine and dine in the many nearby city centre restaurants or you can opt to sip a glass of wine on the balcony, before cooking a romantic meal in the fully fitted, separate contemporary kitchen. Alternatively, take the travel rug and head out for a picnic in Holyrood Park.

The apartment sits within communal gardens and also benefits from free private parking and free wifi.

The views and cobbled street of St Leonards in which the apartment is located gives the apartment a country setting, especially with the entrance to Holyrood Park literally 20 steps from your front door. However, the best bit is that the apartment is actually located just to the south-east of the Old Town.

Restaurants, shops, the recently refurbished Commonwealth swimming pool and gymnasium, Edinburgh Festival venues, the Scottish Parliament building, The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the 63 acres parklands known as The Meadows and attractions such as Dynamic Earth are all within less than a 10 minutes' walk. The Royal Mile (0.9 miles) and the elegant Princes Street (just 1.2 miles) are both a lovely stroll away or you can jump on a bus, with a stop just metres from the end of St Leonards Street.

Edinburgh airport has fantastic links to the city centre by bus, tram or taxi and the train station - Waverley Station - is just over a mile away.

"A great place to stay"

From the moment we arrived at The Old School Tower we knew we had arrived at the most stylish place. This is just the most lovely place to spend a few days in Edinburgh. The property has everything you need and Gillian and Ewen will ensure everything is available should you require it. This has been decorated to a very high standard with a feeling of luxury throughout. You will not be disappointed with your stay here.

"Wow! Stunning, immaculate apartment. Luxuriously appointed. Will go again."

Really unique apartment. Beautifully decorated and appointed. Luxury fittings, accessories, furnishings. WiFi. On site car parking is a real bonus. Apartment comfortable and quiet. Everything is new and you want for nothing. Nice touches - chocolates on arrival, milk in fridge. Tea and coffee (ground coffee and cafetiere). Great location. Super views. Lovely little balcony with table and two chairs is ideal for breakfast or a glass of wine (later)! Will re-book without hesitation. Fantastic experience with style akin to a boutique hotel.
