World famous Edinburgh festival throughout August and early September. Edinburgh is Scotlands cultural and political capital - visit the castle, the renowned tattoo and the new Scottish Parliament. The Shopping is excellent and centred around world-famous Princes Street, which is overlooked by the castle and is just 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
The climate is guaranteed to be dry and sunny (!) but is genuinely slightly drier than the rest of Scotland. Whatever the weather, Edinburgh has something for everyone.

The New Town area is "new" for Edinburgh - being "only" 400 years old, rather than 600 years old in the Old Town. Its an ideal base in the city, and combines shopping from boutiques and art galleries to major department stores. The nightlife is varied and extensive, but majors on cultural, with the Playhouse theatre only a short walk away.
