The apartment is set in Edinburgh's historical Grassmarket within a beautiful stone building with a history dating back to 1634. The front windows overlook the fabulous & vibrant Grassmarket and its infamous Gallows, long since removed but now marked with a historic monument. The rear windows enjoy unique views to the most famous of all Fortresses; the unyielding Edinburgh Castle and the 350 million year old shoulder of volcanic rock it sits upon.

World famous Edinburgh attractions along with pubs, clubs and eateries are in abundance right on the door step. Holiday by day or if you prefer; holiday by night, right in the very heart of Edinburgh.

NOW WITH NEW IMPROVED FREE Wi-Fi. The lounge has a comfortable 3 1/2 seater sofa bed with memory foam mattress for 2 additional guests and is open plan to the modern kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well stocked with quality cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils for those amongst us who love to cook and for those that like to travel light, we have provided a washer drier along with a clothes airer and ironing facilities. The apartment has full central heating and for that extra cosy feeling during the winter season, a designer, coal effect, gas fire (Not recommended for use if young children are with you as the glass front gets very hot). The lounge over looks the vibrant Grassmarket and the bedroom at the rear of the property looks up to the jewel in the Edinburgh crown; Edinburgh Castle. It has a luxurious King size bed and a fine range of bedroom furniture.

The modern bathroom is fully tiled and has a 3 piece suite inc bath with powerful over shower. It also has a heated towel rail & shaver socket.

The telephone is a 'pay as you go' mobile (cell) phone that can be easily topped up at the local grocers shop next door to the apartment.

Please note 4:00pm arrival and 10:00am departure times. If an early arrival and/or late departure cannot be helped and you need somewhere to leave your luggage for a while; there is a left luggage department at 'Waverley Train Station' not far from the apartment who will look after your luggage. Please note: They make a charge for this is a service. You will be able to find details of charges on their web site.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is a city centre holiday let and therefore like all cities street parking is limited in available spaces & the number of hours you are allowed to park in these spaces, it can also be expensive. Because the apartment is so central you really do not need a car to get to the world famous Edinburgh City attractions. However; if for you a car is a necessity; there is free parking in the metered bays right outside the apartment from 18.30 hours to 08.00 hours each night and from 18.30 on Saturday night through to 08.00 Monday morning. During the day, Monday to Saturday, you can pay to park in these bays for a limited time. Tip: If you have parked in a metered bay and don't fancy getting up in the morning to pay at the meter, you can pay the night before and it won't start until 08.00 the next morning. The above are Council run and could be subject to change without notification. Best to check on arrival.

Bicycles cannot be brought in to the building as there is nowhere to leave them. No bicycles in the apartment please.

To help you settle in on arrival we provide a welcome pack of tea, coffee and sugar along with a fresh pint of milk. There is a well stocked small grocer shop next door and a larger supermarket approximately 500mts/Yds away.

As with most central Edinburgh accommodation the apartment has no lift (Elevator). It is on the 1st floor, therefore is unsuitable for some elderly or infirm visitors.

The Lothians region

Edinburgh, like Rome, is built on 7 hills, the most famous of them being; the dormant volcano 'Arthur's Seat', Calton Hill and The Castle Rock. The Castle Rock has a 'tail' or ridge that was carved out by nature during the Ice age, it runs from Edinburgh Castle down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and measures slightly more than 1 mile (Hence the name The Royal Mile). 1000 years ago this ridge became Edinburgh’s first road. Today, it is known as 'The Royal Mile'. The apartment sits below the Castle, just down from the top end of the ‘Royal Mile.

Thanks for a great review. What a fabulous time to be in stopping in the Grassmarket. Commonwealth Games just along in Glasgow and the Edinburgh Tattoo going on at the same time. Watching the Tattoo fireworks erupting from the castle from the bedroom window is a true delight, I'm so glad you managed to witness it.

In all my years of holiday letting I have never been more relieved to receive a five star review. When receiving the last review the bottom fell out of my world. It seemed all the hard work and tens of thousands of GBP we put in to this apartment had been blown away by what we now know, not to be builders who were working in an adjacent apartment as we were lead to believe, but a pub toilet door with a faulty door closer slamming with force. I can't thank you enough for your five star review as it has put 76 Grassmarket back on track, reassured our potential visitors and saved all the hard work and money we put in to this apartment.
You, my beautiful, beautiful visitor (Sorry I'm not allowed to name you) will be welcomed back with open arms anytime. The quick and simple descriptive email you sent me allowed me to pin point and sort out the problem in minutes by way of a quick phone call to the pub. I only wish the last visitor had done the same instead of letting it carry on resulting in his break being ruined and the lowest rating I have ever received.
Note to all potential visitors to not only my, but all holiday accommodation: We owners have no control over such external problems occurring as they happen outside our direct control. In the unlikely event you do experience such a thing you'll be amazed how quickly we owners can get it resolved as this visitor has testified.

I'm sorry your visit to Edinburgh was spoiled by noise. I have looked in to this and can report that an adjacent property had builders in working late during your visit and that they were doing the banging and playing their loud music. Edinburgh has strict laws in regard to pubs below residential properties playing loud music with loss of licence as a penalty. (The exception being New Year's Eve when they tend to be a little lenient). We work hard to make our visits experience the best we can provide and are both sorry and annoyed that your break in our lovely city was spoiled by the building work. Our 31 x 5 star and 7 x 4 star reviews out of a total of 40 pay testament to our commitment.

Merci pour une grande revue. Je suis s'il vous plaît que vous avez apprécié votre visite à Edimbourg.
Vous avez fait mention des serviettes étant dans le sèche-linge et pas de papier toilette. Malheureusement, quand un visiteur arrive à l'improviste tôt avant l'heure convenue, il est possible de trouver en nous préparant l'appartement pour votre arrivée que le visiteur précédent avait pas longtemps laissé. Les serviettes fraîchement lavées étaient ébouriffées dans le sèche-linge pour les rendre souples et moelleux et notre propre a été à l'achat de fournitures, y compris le papier de toilette. Il est important pour nous que nos visiteurs apprécient le meilleur que nous pouvons offrir. Cependant; une arrivée précoce inattendu peut nous surprendre au milieu de notre préparation. Nous sommes heureux cela n'a pas gâché vos vacances et que vous avez eu un bon moment.
Hâtez-vous de retour.

You made mention of the towels being in the tumble dryer and no toilet paper. Unfortunately when a visitor arrives unexpectedly early before the agreed time, it is possible to find us preparing the apartment for your arrival as the previous visitor had not long left. The freshly laundered towels were being fluffed up in the tumble dryer to make them soft and fluffy and our cleaner was out buying supplies including the toilet paper. It is important to us that our visitors enjoy the best we can offer. However; an unexpected early arrival can catch us in the middle of our preparation. We are pleased this did not spoil your holiday and that you had such a good time.

"A delightful apartment,tastefully furnished in a brilliant location."

This was our second stay in this particular apartment. It is comfortable and has everything you need, very much a home from home. The added bonus is its location in Grassmarket , with the living room windows looking out onto the constant hustle and bustle. The bedroom at the back is quiet and looks onto a tiny oasis of green. There was quite a variety of bird visitors and a grey squirrel. There is so much to do and see in Edinburgh. It is an ideal spot for a city break. I am sure we will be back.

What an absolutely delightful review. I love all the lovely reviews my visitors leave for me and this is one of my favourites because of its originality and the wonderful descriptive contrast you gave of the Vibrant buzz of the Grassmarket stimulating the front room through an open window to the tranquil bedroom at the rear overlooking a tiny oasis of green with a variety of birds and a squirrel. Lovely, Thank you.
