About the home

In the heart of Edinburgh's mediaeval old town with most of the historic sights a short walk away this cosy first floor apartment provides accommodation for up to 4 people.

The Living/Dining Room offers views over the Royal Mile and has a door opening out on to a Juliet balcony where guests can enjoy watching the world go by or get a birds eye view of such events as the beating of the retreat. The sitting area has two comfortable 2 leather sofas, side tables and lamps and a dining table which seats up to four people. Digital TV/DVD/Video and a Hi-Fi system with Digital Radio, wireless internet is also available for the use of guests. There is a good selection of books, DVDs and CDs should the rigours of Edinburgh prove too much.

The galley Kitchen is equipped with an electric hob and oven, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washing machine/tumble drier as well as the usual array of cookware, china, glass and cutlery for those wishing to prepare a meal at home. Though there is such a diverse array of restaurants in the vicinity that the temptation would be to test a good cross section of these.

An attractive double Bedroom overlooks a small courtyard the rear of the building and offers views up to the iconic monuments of Calton Hill. A hairdryer and radio alarm are supplied for your convenience.

The second bedroom at the front of the property, which overlooks the Royal Mile and has a zip and link super-king size bed that can provide sleeping flexibility by splitting into two full size single beds. Hair-dryer and radio alarm are also supplied.

A tiled bathroom has a wash hand basin and toilet as well as a bath with a powerful electric shower over it.

Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, offers guests easy access to the rest of the country as there are good rail and bus links meaning that a day in Glasgow, Perth or Inverness is easy to achieve. Drivers will find it possible to get around most of the central belt with ease. Recommended trips include St Andrews, the Borders and the Kingdom of Fife.

The Royal Mile offers a wealth of sights from the Castle to Holyrood Palace, St Giles Cathedral to the new Scottish Parliament. The little vennels running off the Royal Mile are endlessly appealing. If you wish to see how people lived in mediaeval Edinburgh then a trip to Gladstone's Land will enlighten you. The gracious streets of Edinburgh's New Town (the Georgian area) are in complete contrast and should not be missed.
