The Central Scotland/Edinburgh region
Edinburgh is often described as one of the most beautiful, vibrant and cosmopolitan cities in the world and visitors can expect a mix of history with modern culture, arts and entertainment, plus some of the finest dining.
The Castle, Scottish National Gallery and Princes Street Shopping must be amongst the most famous attractions, but include the creepy underground streets at Mary Kings Close, the famous Rugby ground at Murrayfield, the Royal Yacht Britannia in nearby Leith and the M8 - Gateway to the Highlands and the rest of the stunning scottish scenery and you really do have a holiday for all tastes!
Edinburgh / Stockbridge area
The Cottage contains a file with many places of interest and things to do. Visitors really will be spoilt for choice. Stockbridge itself is full to bursting with lovely boutiques, a famous cheese shop, antiques and coffee houses, plus some of the greatest restaurants this side of Edinburgh! It is close to Leith and the Royal Yacht Britannia and really is within walking distance of Princes Street, for those who don't mind an uphill stroll.
Leafy cobbled streets, boutiques, coffee houses and the beautiful Botanic Gardens nestle on the doorstep of this property. Yet all this is just a stones throw from the famous Princes Street, Theatre land and Edinburghs historic castle and galleries. It is also close to riverside walks, beaches and further afield the Pentland Hills, gateway to the adventure playground that is Scotland!
Great Bus links, the tram and readily available taxis make it easy to explore the wider city. The Castle, Mary Kings Close, Scottish National Gallery and countless other great experiences! Or just wander round the stunning parks and winding streets in the Old Town, immersed in history and wonderful architecture!
The Edinburgh Festival brings Edinburgh to the forefront of the tourist experience between August and September and there is a wealth of literary and performance entertainment, culminating with the Royal Tattoo! In December the Christmas fair and market brings Princes Street to life and then Hogmanay is something to never forget!
